Richard had been stuck in this hole for a few months now, ever since he had left Coruscant for the outer rim. Hole wasn't exactly accurate, he had bought a basement apartment on the lower levels of Muunilinst and had converted it into his own personal laboratory, and living space. He looked like hell, which was normal for when he was wrapped in one of his secret research projects. If it were up to him he would spend his entire time on his projects, but unfortunately he was limited by the functions and necessities of a biological being that was subject to it's base needs. He needed to eat, drink and sleep in order to work effectively and no amount of stimulants could change that. Currently he was studying his own genetic code on a monitor. He sat staring up at the blue screen in front of him. He had recently become obsessed with genetics and he was looking to see how one could improve on their own personal genetic code. He also wanted to see what would happen in the simulations when the genes of one species were spliced with another. It was his new obsession to create life. He had studied the work of the kaminoines that created the original clones. However he didn't want to simply clone someone's genetics, he wanted to create a whole new set of genes and create his own life. In a sense he was playing god.
"Blossom can you insert subject A's DNA into the stream an combine it with the hosts DNA." He said calmly, as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes. Referring to his own DNA as a host felt a bit strange but he didn't let it bother him.
"Of course Father, however it may take a while before the simulation has any results to show." Blossom responded coolly as she appeared on the holodisplay next him. Her see through form looked up at him as he watched as the animal DNA combine with his own in the simulation with fascination.
"You know I have told you not to call me that, just call me Richard." He responded looking down at his AI with those soft hazel eyes giving her a warm smile. Although she was an AI she could still read human emotions and her consciousness was very much human. Therefore it made no sense for him to treat her like a machine as she would grow resentful like any indentured servant would to their master.
"As you wish" She said as her form on the holodisplay shimmered slightly. She had no intention of calling him Richard, she called him father because that's what he was to her. He had created her from using his own brain activity and he was the first person to speak to her at her "birth" if it could be called that. He had given her, her name and had educated her in her earliest days as to what she was and her purpose in life. Since then she had surpassed her father's knowledge and enjoyed helping him with his projects, it was mentally stimulating and enjoyable.
"Let me know when the simulation is finished I am going to go and get some shut eye." Richard groaned as he stood up from his seat the monitor still showing an incomplete form of the final product. Blossom had been his first ever creation and she was without a doubt his greatest creation. She was a fully functioning, capable, and an extremely intelligent artificial intelligence. He had used his own brain waves and neuronal firing that took place within his brain as the basis for Blossom's intelligence and consciousness. However this didn't mean she was a complete copy of him, however she did share many traits with her creator.
"Will do." She responded simply before winking off of the holodisplay. Richard disappeared into the other room and slumped on his bed before laying down and staring up at the ceiling. As usual his head was swirling with thoughts and ideas. However, it wasn't long before the darkness of sleep overcame him and he began to dream...
