GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION
LOCATION INFORMATION
- Capital City: Pols Anaxes [x]
- Planetary Features:
- Sirpar Hills: These beautifully crafted hillsides are one of Anaxes’ most famous viewpoints. The terraced layout was covered in parks and occupied by the estates of the wealthiest families of Anaxes - Holt, Yularen, Dalness, Haskler, Tevinter, Orega… It is also the place where most of the Sirpar Trees [x] population can be found.
- Wild Areas: Although Anaxes has been entirely settled during its long history, the decision has been taken to let some areas devoid of human colonisation. Like Corellia, Anaxes is capable of installing its most polluting activities in orbit, which means the planet is comfortable to live on and is spared of the pollution you can encounter on Coruscant or Taris. In these plains, forests and mountains live Keffis, quadrupedal animals that are tamed by the Anaxsi nobility as a means of transportation and a way to express prestige. Many other wild animals can be found in these untouched locations, albeit not as emblematic as the Keffi.
- Major Locations:
- Pols Anaxes:
- Detention Centre: Built under the Galactic Republic’s command, the centre now serves to host criminals of every Core World. Needless to say, it is also the most heavily guarded building of the capital, as it is the one with the potential to trouble the people’s rest. The Detention Centre is mostly built underground, and its cells have been excavated in granite rock, rendering any hope of digging a tunnel helpless. The main detention cells are coated in thick plastoid and closed by a ray-shielding system separated from the main energetic supply system. The supermax cells are powered by powerful antigrav engines, as they float ten metres above the floor, and ten metres away from the walls. Those can be accessed by a small hovercraft genetically locked, and designed to power only if a living member of the supermax security team is onboard. Above the detention cells, the Centre is a modest-looking building, its height totalling twelve floors, all reserved for the penitentiary administration. The Garde d'Azure has a permanent garrison on the second floor and is charged with operating the main detention cells. The supermax cells are crewed with a handful of elite soldiers whose carriers and past lives are carefully examined to find any trace of involvement with a criminal, or any suspicions of unloyalty to Anaxes.
- Governorate Palace: This is where the Azure System Commonwealth [x] handles the day-to-day political operations of the system. It is the head of bureaucracy of the system and the place of residence of the Prime Minister. Heavily inspired by the Galactic Senate’s rotunda, the Palace is however lightly guarded. The Garde d’Azure is indeed present, but its presumed pro-Imperial tendencies have resulted in the Planetary Defence Force being slowly discarded by the government. The defensive presence of the Garde d’Azure is hence symbolic at best.
- Anaxes Citadel: The last major building of Pols Anaxes, the Anaxes Citadel is a major altar of militaristic tradition and pride in the Core. Built in 700 BBY, it is the biggest defensive complex on the planet, being roughly a third of the Coruscanti Imperial Palace. Formerly the place in which the Anaxsi held their government, the massive group of parade grounds, intelligence centres, offices, training schools, research labs and archives was discarded when the Azure System Commonwealth was integrated into the Grayson Imperium under the guise of it being too Imperial in appearance. The Citadel thus retained its primary role of hosting the headquarters of the Garde d’Azure and the Anaxes War College. The War College is the place in which any naval officer of the GADF is bound to pass and graduate to a command position. As such, most of the naval traditions of the Core have been installed by the Anaxsi.

POPULATION- Native Species: n/a
- Immigrated Species: Humans, Near-Humans [x], Others
- Population: Heavy
- Demographics: The vast majority of the population is made of Humans and Near-Humans (around 93% per cent), while the rest of the population is made of common aliens found throughout the Galaxy. The Humans form the upper echelon of society, while the aliens are often lowly regarded.
- Primary Languages: Galactic Basic Standard [x]
- Culture:
- HuMan High Culture: Whilst not being as strong as it could have been in the past days of the Galactic Empire, the idea of human males making the top of society is deeply rooted in Anaxes’s culture. They occupy most of the high-ranking positions in society, the only exception being the current Prime Minister, Carolina Tevinter . Females are not expected to attend public duty, while the aliens aren’t granted citizenship, sparing some very rare and deserving individuals.
- Militaristic Culture: It is not for nothing that Anaxes is called the Shield of the Core. The proud traditions of the Anaxsi have created a military-focused society that has always revolved around spatial domination. Any Anaxsi is expected to spend at least two years in the Garde d’Azure, and most generally continue to serve afterwards in a galaxy-spanning military organisation, mercenary company or private security force. Whatever the path, working to refine one’s warrior skills is always highly regarded. Some people go even as far as to say that an Anaxsi’s worth is measured in blood.
GOVERNMENT & ECONOMY- Government: Meritocratic aristocracy / Polysonody [x] [x] [x]
- Affiliation: Galactic Alliance [x]
- Wealth: Wealthy: One of the Core Founders of the Galactic Republic, and the major shipyard of the Perlemian Trade Route, Anaxes long stood as a beacon of attractivity for any private contractor wishing to purchase vessels, train troops or enlist in the military. Though Axum has always had a greater industrial output than Anaxes, it has also been regarded as less prestigious and elegant, making riches fly to Anaxes rather than Axum. Thanks to the Verdure Party’s careful management at the end of the Gulag Plague, Anaxes has managed to retain a rank of prestige in the Core and end the crisis with fewer losses than other planets in the Core. The decision of making Anaxes the capital of the Galactic Republic in the past has also boosted its economy and now makes the Azure Jewel a beacon of wealth and prosperity in the Core.
- Stability: High: Anaxes’ military traditions are deeply rooted in the Anaxsi’s mind, and only fools could try and suppress that urge for stability and security. After being a key supporter of the Katana Fleet project, Anaxes trained the many naval officers of the Grand Army of the Republic. The desire for stability and security found its fulfilment in the Galactic Empire, and since then, the principles of order through power are at the heart of the day-to-day life of every citizen. Each Family and House funds its militia to protect its holdings. However, fears of civil war have always been kept at bay, and the struggles are generally resolved politically.
- Freedom & Oppression: Anaxsi know their place. In a society where order is prevalent, an individual is to uphold respect for the law and the ruling people, even when they are displeasing. Moreover, it is generally regarded as pitiful to revolt against the government, in a society where anyone can ascend to positions of power by merit alone. One might consider the omnipresence of military forces as the true expression of the government’s oppressive nature, but these forces are merely expressions of the planet’s pride and desire to uphold security. Despite rigid social rules, an Anaxsi is generally free of doing whatever he wants if he accepts to pay the price for it or gain the power to do so.
MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY- Military: Being the Shield of the Core forces Anaxes to respect certain standards. As previously discussed above, the military forces of the planet are everywhere. Citizens all have two years of service in the military branch of their choice. All Families have a small security force and most Houses have multiple companies tasked with defending their possessions and expressing their power. The Garde d’Azure is a sector-spanning defence force and police corps, but its elite troops are present on Anaxes. The headquarters of the sector is defended by the most elite guardsmen of the corps, all of them having at least ten years of service in the Garde d’Azure elsewhere. On an infrastructure level, the linchpin of this fortress world is the Anaxes Citadel, serving as the headquarters for the PSF and as the training centre for the whole GADF. However, the Citadel is not the only defended structure, as most of the palaces can serve as defensive positions. In space, the shipyards serve as the command centre for the Sector Fleet and are rigged with defences and elaborate traps for the attacker to fall into. All in all, the centuries only see an increase in defences, making Anaxes one of the most defended planets of the region, maybe more defended than Coruscant, Kuat, Corulag, Carida or Foerost.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The following is a summary of the Complete History of Anaxes & Axum system. Some parts have been redacted, and the chapter regarding the Gulag Plague is notoriously devoid of information.
Azure Imperium [x] (until 25,000 BBY)
The Azure System was discovered and settled by space-faring humans travelling across the galaxy, and originating from Coruscant. Until 25,000 BBY, they would establish a nation known as the Azure Imperium, spanning a considerable amount of territory along the Perlemian Trade Route, and governed by the twin planets of Anaxes and Axum. At that time, Anaxes was the chief shipyard and fortress world of the Imperium, a role that would only increase throughout history. The seeds for a militaristic culture were successfully implemented on Anaxes, and the Anaxsi served a primary role in charting the Perlemian Trade Route and conquering new swathes of territory for the Imperium. Fortunately, the Imperium escaped the Rakatans’ influence as they focused on Coruscant, allowing the Anaxsi to thrive, free of enslavement by this malevolent species.
Galactic Republic [x] (25,000 BBY - 19 BBY)
Eventually, the influence of the Azure Imperium would wane as Coruscant began establishing contact with multiple Core Worlds. The Imperium agreed to join the nascent Galactic Republic and thus Anaxes became one of the Core Founders, along with Duro, Alderaan and many more. Profiting from the hyperspace cannon and the hyperdrives, Anaxes managed to discover and secure most of the Perlemian Trade Route, and as Coruscant became an anchor for trade and tourism, the Azure System soon gained renown for its mastery and expertise in space warfare.
As Coruscanti discovered the world of Tion, Anaxes expressed concerns over the warlike nature of its inhabitants, a wariness which was frowned upon by many in the Senate. Likewise, Anaxes remained cautious of the newly Jedi Order which managed to take control of the Republic and entitled itself to its protector. This continuation of unpopular diplomatic stances soon resulted in Anaxes’ progressive loss of influence, as Coruscant established its own Pilote Institute. This rivalry would last half a millennium, seeing Anaxes lose ground: as Coruscant enjoyed the benefits of a second hyper-route, its rival could not compete on a trade level. But the Anaxsi’s position would prove to the Republic they weren’t brainless warmongers.
By 24,500 BBY, a new Senator for the Azure Sector was appointed. Jerome Tevinter decided to step out of its predecessor’s policies and act in a friendly manner towards the Jedi Order. This decision proved capital as sometime later, the First Great Schism broke out, opposing the Jedi Order and the Legions of Lettow. Siding with the Jedi, Anaxes was able to clear out the path for the final battle on Lettow, although the encounter proved expensive for the Anaxsi military. A consummate politician, Tevinter managed to swiftly change his position and adapt his public opinion on the Jedi Order, reminding his fellow Senators that Anaxes had always been wary of these mystical warriors. Now a war hero and a respected politician, Tevinter would go on to found an influential line of politicians and statesmen for the millennia to come.
As time went on, Anaxes took part in the Tionese War, fighting back the Honourable Union of Desevro & Tion. Initially caught off-guard as the fleet was busy fighting pirates, the Azure System witnessed with horror Axum being bombarded with pressure bombs. Seeking revenge, the Anaxsi became the strongest advocates of total war against the Tionese, and geniuses like Tirrell Haskler or Orthen Dalness spearheaded the final counterattacks in 23,900 BBY. Legends tell Tirrell regretted not blowing Desevro himself.
After the Tionese War, the position of Anaxes on the Jedi Order began to evolve, and though they frowned at the pacifists, they became increasingly thankful for their continued watch over the frontier of civilization. During the same period, Axum began to decline. Ravaged by the initial onslaught of the Tionese, the ecumenopolis did not manage to catch up with the pace of economic development and the roles shifted, as Anaxes became the leading world of the system.
Enjoying peace and prosperity for long millennia, Anaxes loosely committed itself to the Alsakan Conflicts. The perceived threat of Alaskan was not enough to motivate the Anaxsi to enter the civil war. Even though the Republic fleet launched full-scale offensives toward Alsakan, Anaxes did not support the war and offered peace talks several times until the Perlemian Trade Route fell under Alsakan control. Forced to reconsider its position, Anaxes loosely supported Alsakan until 16,700 BBY. Perceiving a chance of peace, the Azure System withdrew from conflict and agreed to stand by the Bureau of Ships and Services to force Coruscant and Alsakan to the negotiation table.
The Alsakan Conflicts would plague the Republic further as the charting went on and more civilisations were discovered and included in the rapidly-growing galactic government. But Anaxes’ role would be minor as the years went on because the Anaxsi had agreed to protect their interests first: colonisation Rimward and expansion of naval power.
The rise of Constipex I was regarded as a grave act of dissent in the well-defined organization of the Republic, and the anti-alien policies of the Pius Dea did not manage to sway Anaxes to its side. The Azure Sector seceded from the Pius Dea Republic along with Corulag, Alsakan and all the Axis, a good portion of the fleet being committed to the battles of Fondor and Uquine, where it collaborated with the Jedi Order and the Caamasi to arrest Supreme Chancellor Constipex XIX.
As the dust settled by 9,000 BBY, Anaxes enjoyed four thousand years of peace that helped refine the naval tactics and constantly adapt to new technologies and culture. The exploration of the Rim continued uninterrupted, spearheaded by Corellians, Anaxsi, and Duros. These curious space-farers managed to discover more and more planets previously uncharted and made them join the Republic.
But in 5,000 BBY, the Sith made their first appearance in history. The Second Great Schism had left Anaxes relatively unaffected because it had not committed forces to drive back the Dark Jedi’s maddened creations. This, however, was different. The Sith, led by Naga Sadow’s meditation sphere, managed to catch the Core Defence Fleet off-guard and disorient it thanks to Sith illusions. Janec Holt mounted a battlegroup at Anaxes and regrouped the retreating Republic forces. He led the fleet to the enemy’s heart, and drove the Sith back, pursuing them into the Stygian Caldera. Partaking in the Sith Genocide, Anaxsi soldiers enacted a long-due vengeance against the various barbarians, cultists and warmongers that threatened the stability of the Core from afar.
The Core grew complacent as the centuries continued to pass. Anaxes was oblivious to the rise of the Krath at their door, nor did they realise the threat of the Mandalorians until it was too late. Convinced to have won the war and willing to enjoy peace, Senator Hertus Zann refused to trigger the alarm signal at the Senate, resulting in the Krath Holy Crusade and Great Sith War starting unnoticed.
3,996 BBY was a fateful year. Exar Kun and Ulic Qel-Droma managed to raise massive forces and attack the Core Worlds without much resistance. The early war had been spent in diversion campaigns in the Rim and had attracted many Jedi out of the Core to destroy the Dark Reaper or investigate the massacres of Raxus Prime, allowing Exar Kun to mount his Brotherhood of the Sith and Ulic Qel-Droma to subjugate the Mandalorians. Their first blow, at Foerost, crippled the Republic Navy, as the Mandalorians pillaged the shipyard. With the Navy dealt with, the Sith moved to Coruscant, but infighting proved costly and the Mandalorians retreated. Embarked on a defensive campaign on the Axis, the Anaxsi fleets were unable to contribute to the defence, but their presence would prove useful in the battles to come, at Taanab and Chazwa. Despite the repeated defeats, the Holt brothers led the fleet and joined forces with Master Dominus of the Jedi Order. Despite his assassination, the Anaxsi held fast and secured Sullust, which had been taken by a combined Krath-Mandalorian force.
The Great Sith War’s consequences were tremendous for all the Core. The sheer violence of the conflict and the massive casualties the Republic had sustained prompted Anaxes to launch several armament programs to upgrade and expand its fleet massively. Even though both Sith Lords had been defeated, their Brotherhood remained numerous and the cultists would remerge soon. Coordinating his efforts with some Jedi determined to hunt down the remains of Kun’s forces, Gerlad Holt embarked on a personal campaign, akin to a vendetta. He moved quickly and purged numerous worlds under influence of the Sith, in what would become the Gerlad’s Genocide. Ultimately, Holt was bogged down by the Mecrosa Order in the Tapani Sector, where his eroded forces fell under the combined forces of vengeful cultists and assassins who were quick to fragment his command centre, stalling the fleet and breaking the Anaxsi’s momentum.
Twenty years later, the Mandalorians rose again. Immediately, Anaxes dispatched several task forces along the Perlemian Trade Route to secure important locations and reinforce the Rim Fleet while the bulk of the Azure Navy was mobilised. However, no force could oppose the Mandalorians and Anaxes’ forward units were swept by the Neo-Crusaders launching a full-scale invasion of the Republic. Under command of Captain Saul Karath, Anaxsi vessels joined the defensive cordon around Taris and managed to hold back the Mandalorians for eight months. They engaged the enemy at Suurja and clashed with it three times in six weeks, though no progress was made on any side. As the defence at Vanquo collapsed, the Anaxsi vessels disappeared from the battlefield, avoiding destruction and rallying under a mysterious leader. Anaxes was not present at the battle of Serroco, but news of the nuclear bombardment sparked unrest on the Azure Jewel. Anaxsi wanted blood and Senator Yularen gave them blood. Mounting a force known as the Civilian Crusade, he authorised any civilian to partake in this task force that was being thrust towards the Mandalorians. At Omonoth, most of the civilians were massacred by the more experienced Mandalorians, and in the light of this event, Senator Yularen was forced to step down and let Gregoir Holt take the mantle of Senator. The Civilian Crusade forces were scattered across twelve systems, most of the Anaxsi settling where they managed to escape the Mandalorians’ wrath. However, a sizeable portion of the fleet vanished without explanation. During the Mandalorian Triumph, Anaxes’ navy was committed to the protection of the Core: having suffered heavy losses, the fleet needed to regroup and regrow. It was equipped with the new Centurion and Interdictor designs, and after a few months of defensive duty, was ready to get back on the frontline. As Revan turned the tide at the Battle of Duro, Gregoir Holt launched a reconquest campaign between the Hydian Way and Perlemian Trade Route. Striking at Taanab, the fleet forced the Mandalorians off-world, then launched a surprise attack on Azure. This colony of the Azure Imperium had been under heavy Mandalorian occupation, and it was a command centre for the region. Gregoir Holt caught the Mandalorians off-guard, but he remained outnumbered, and despite his tactical genius, began losing ground. Prepared to commit a last stand, Gregoir Holt saw a rag-tag group of vessels emerge from hyperspace and strike the enemy fleet down. His brother, Gerlad Holt, had come to his rescue with forces he had gathered during the opening stages of the war. Reunited, the Holt Brothers embarked on a campaign mirroring the one they had embarked on twenty years ago.
While the Holt Brothers were successful in delivering a killing blow to the Mandalorians around Azure, Anaxes’s navy was bloodless at the end of two devastating conflicts. Sent reeling, it narrowly avoided being dissolved, and was unheard of for many years. The status of the planet was even questioned: having suffered mass casualties during the war, Anaxes’s industrial output fell enormously, allowing planets like Rendili or Sullust to challenge its position as a major shipyard. Anaxes’ role during the Jedi and Sith Civil War was negligible because the officials chose to focus on rebuilding the planet’s devastated economy and population.
The Great Galactic War cemented Anaxes’ return to a state of galactic influence. Supplying the fleet of the Republic after the loss of Sluis Van, Anaxes was a key player at the battle of Bothawui, before challenging the Mandalorian Blockade again and again until it fell thanks to the help of Hylo Visz. Despite the fighting spirit of the Anaxsi fleet, peace was sued and accepted, plunging the galaxy into a cold war. While the Sith Empire tried to trigger proxy conflicts to weaken the Republic, Anaxes designed new vessels that would prove useful when the war sparked again. In the meantime, the Jedi Order retreated to Tython, blamed by the whole Republic for losing the war. Anti-Jedi feelings resurfaced on Anaxes, prompting the government to forbid the Jedi to recruit on the planet.
As the galaxy descended into maddened war and wanton destruction, some of the Anaxsi began to feel tired of the constant warfare and decided to retreat to their respective palaces. Soon, they met again and founded one of the first philosophical schools on the planet, one devoted to exploring the desire for death and military prowess. While this archaic philosophy was limited in its expression, it would cement Anaxes’ role as a beacon of civilization later in history.
After the discovery of the Eternal Empire, the Galactic Republic was forced into a protectorate and was unable to restore the horrific losses it had suffered against the Sith Empire. But as the Third Galactic War unfolded following the fall of the Eternal Empire, Anaxes was as ever on the forefront of the Republic’s Navy. Having used the truces and forced peace to improve its naval tactics and explore new tactics, the Anaxsi and their students from the War College brought their expertise to the frontline and participated in the eventual destruction of the Sith Empire.
Until the New Sith Wars, Anaxes would be a synonym of intellectual modernism and military development, working hard to keep both its shipyards and college in the run against so many competitors. Under the careful management of the Zann family, who rose to prominence at the time, the Azure Jewel remained a world of great influence, and, by the opening of the Draggulch Era, it was one of the few worlds still able to compete with Coruscant or Corellia in terms of intellectual output.
The New Sith Wars saw Anaxes’ role in galactic affairs being challenged to an unprecedented level. As the HoloNet fell silent and the Republic’s boundaries shrank, Anaxes went from disorder to disorder, and riots plagued the world. While the people were ready to endure any conventional war and put their lives at risk, they were unable to apprehend the degree of the catastrophe they were in. The psychological stress caused many to abandon any social code and become mad and savage barbarians roaming abandoned parts of the planet. Most of the planet’s history was lost at this point, and there is not much detail regarding the life on Anaxes until the end of the Seventh Battle of Ruusan.
Entering the Republic Golden Age, the Azure Jewel was severely diminished as a result of the never-ending war against the Sith. More preoccupying were the Ruusan Reformations being adopted by the Senate. After the regression of the planet during the New Sith Wars, it had lost its powerful voice in the assembly. Moreover, militancy was now disregarded to a point where any advocate of a centralised military was called a Sith agitator. After spending months lobbying in vain against the reformations, Anaxes gave up on the subject and formally protested by abstaining from the vote.
While the planet would become a fundamental actor of the Militarist [x] faction in the Senate, it took a long time to rebuild the might that had been Anaxes’s during the heights of the Old Republic. Axum, already on the lead in terms of industrial output before the war, was far beyond anything Anaxes could ever hope to catch on to. Instead, the leaders of the system convened a meeting and discussed at length the future of their culture. While Axum representatives were confident in the fact that the system would endure and get back onto the galactic stage soon, Anaxsi were sceptical and argued that Corellia or Coruscant were forces to be reckoned with. The political independence of the Axum system had always allowed its leaders to choose a third way from the ever-lasting conflict between Coruscant and Alsakan, but it was now threatened. Hence, the Anaxsi were calling for a massive rearmament program, in hopes to show off the renewed influence of the Jewel. But this rash behaviour put Kain Haskler at odds with the other members of the meeting. His opinion being ill-supported, he accepted to follow the proposal of the meeting, to funnel most industrial output through Axum while Anaxes took on the responsibility to create universities and military colleges.
And as the galaxy fell asleep and glorified itself in the peace coming, while the Sith already lurked in the shadows, Anaxes got away from the more traditional Militarists and worked its way into the Planetary Security Forces / Judicial Forces [x] rivalry. While the Anaxsi did not bother to intervene in the debate, its indirect actions brought upon the ridicule of the Judicial Forces. In 738 BBY, following the Mandalorian Excision, it was finally decided to unify the many colleges and universities into a monolithic organisation that would allow for a formation challenging even the standards of the Judicial Academy of Coruscant. Reviving the Anaxes War College through a partnership with Prefsbelt IV’s naval academy, Anaxes set itself in a bright position for the following millennium. Harkening back to the Old Republic tales of glory involving Gregoir Holt or Tirrell Haskler, the students of the War College proved to be crucial elements of the Planetary Security Forces for the rest of the Republic’s history. In the meantime, the inaptitude of the Judicial Forces to protect the citizens and preserve peace allowed the Security Forces to rise as the main corps able to protect the galaxy. Thus, the Militarists used the PSF to enforce their local policy and fight the pacifists in the Senate. Ignoring the dissension that would brew slowly in the assembly, Anaxes rejoiced to see its institutions come to such prominence and worked hard to promote intellectual development on its soil.
Shortly following behind the growing popularity of the Anaxes War College, a school of philosophy glorifying death on the battlefield and service to the fatherland. Dubbed the Republicanists, they regrouped around a founding book of unknown title, criticising the temptation of power through demagogy and tyranny. Instead, those philosophers advocated for an enlightened ruler, raised by philosophers and soldiers, to assume the mantle of Chief of State. This deeply affected the political life of Anaxes during the rest of its history. And while the galaxy would see the rise and fall of many autocrats, Anaxes was different because most of its rulers were chosen for their intellectual capabilities rather than their lust for power. This unique layout of government, the enlightened absolutism, endures at this time, though it has been tentatively suppressed by the modern Galactic Alliance.
By the opening of the Stark Hyperspace War, the Anaxsi had garnered many supports across the Senate and were again strong actors in the Republic’s life. But the planet decided to take some distance from Ranulph Tarkin's [x] provocative actions and watch the war unfold. When, at last, the slaughter came to a close, Anaxes was able to join a reforged Militarist faction. The rivalry between Tagge, Sienar, Tarkin and Valorum had been forgotten and this evolution helped to strengthen the advocates of a new Republic Army. Grouped behind Corulag, Carida, Kuat, Prefsbelt, Eriadu, and so many more, the Militarists managed to use the martyrdom of Ranulph Tarkin to further advance their cause. And while the Republic decayed and crumbled, Anaxes enjoyed a return to prominence. The Judicial Forces had never been so ineffective, the corruption-plagued Senate wasted its time in petty squabbles, and the influence of powerful corporations in the Outer Rim meant that the lawless region was totally out of control. And while Anaxes remained a beacon of civilisation and enlightenment, concern rose regarding the general state of the Republic. Until the arrival of Sheev Palpatine as Senator of Naboo, no solution would be found.
No one ever suspected Palpatine, and this allowed him to trick Anaxes into supporting his project. Not even after the Military Creation Act was signed did the Anaxsi realise they were giving every power of the galaxy to a dark autocrat, far away from their ideals. But as the Clone Wars burgeoned, the Anaxsi heeded the call to arms and were recruited en masse into the Navy. Kraig Haskler, Wullf Yularen, and Ersan Dalness would be among the many names synonym of glory during this violent war. The first of the three impressed his superiors with his incredible abilities to outthink the naval system of engagement and find creative ways to beat the enemy. The second would be assigned to Kenobi and Skywalker’s fleet and many of their successes happened because Yularen was there to save them. Lastly, Dalness installed a tradition of support for Palpatine and loyalty to his cause whatever the cost during his mandate as Senator.
As the war continued, Kraig Haskler obtained command of the Tormentor, a brand-new battleship that battled the Invisible Hand in orbit of Coruscant and Wullf Yularen became a respected admiral and gained connections to Palpatine’s inner circle, a prelude to his high rank in the coming COMPNOR. In the meantime, the Chancellor made his final moves to secure power.
Galactic Empire [x] (19 BBY - 4 ABY)
No one on Anaxes protested against the brutal execution of the Jedi, but the later policies of the new Emperor would spark dissatisfaction and scepticism. For the moment, the Anaxsi rejoiced at the news of the end of the war. Most of them saw the Empire as a way to improve the Republic by suppressing its flaws. Most of them also gladly served the regime as it started to work through reforms and militarisation.
Quickly, however, the first flaws appeared in the system, that would throw the political elites of the planet into disarray. The purge of the Generationals [x] from the Imperial Military outraged the Anaxsi, but they were already deep into Imperialism. While they softly protested, nothing was done to prevent the tyranny from growing and replicating the mistakes of the Republic: quickly, corruption and careerism were back on track. But the Anaxsi were persuaded they could amend the Empire in the right way and make it ascend to its ideal form. And so, during the years of the Empire, they endured and continued to serve faithfully. The Anaxes War College continued to give philosophy lessons, especially studying the Republicanists. While those were openly criticised, many still viewed their ideal of an enlightened ruler as the right way to build a government and rule the galaxy.
But all this lobbying was in vain. The whole Militarist faction had fallen in the clutches of Palpatine and there was little Anaxes could do to influence their line of thought. As such, they decided to adopt the same radical imperialism as Carida or Kuat had. And until the death of Emperor Palpatine, no one would ever question the loyalty of the Anaxsi. Some ascended to beautiful positions, like Kraig Haskler, becoming Moff of the Corellian Sector, or Wullf Yularen becoming Colonel in the ISB. In the meantime, the planet was consolidated as a holding of power, becoming the headquarters for the new Azure Hammer Command [x], led by Grand Admiral Osvald Teshik [x].
As the galaxy lost its leader, and as the Imperial Civil War sparked open, the Anaxsi suffered the price of being a high-value target. While it was extremely well-protected at the beginning of the war, Anaxes was constantly conquered and retaken by various warlords vying for the Imperial Throne. Admiral Osted Wermis [x] was able to hold the system out for five years before signing a truce with the New Republic in 9 ABY when he learned of Warlord Zsinj’s [x] demise. He was eventually forced out, and Anaxes surrendered to the New Republic shortly afterwards. In the meantime, Moff Kraig Haskler, who was holding Sector Princeps, broke apart and led his warlord faction until Grand Admiral Thrawn [x] came to lead the Imperial Remnant [x] and took him to lead a portion of the fleet. Shortly before the battle of Bilbringi [x], Haskler was chosen to be part of the cloning effort on Nirauan [x], and as his genetic data travelled to the Empire of the Hand [x], he died sometime after Thrawn’s defeat. With that, there was no hope that Anaxes would escape New Republic rule now.
New Republic [x] and Galactic Alliance [x] (9 ABY - 127 ABY)
Though the war was far from over and it dragged on until 19 ABY when the Pellaeon-Gavrisom Treaty [x] was signed, Anaxes remained peaceful for a good 16 years before the Yuuzhan Vong War [x] broke out. During this time, the Anaxsi society saw a return of the old Militarist values upheld by the Generationals, who themselves happened to be chosen to represent the planet in the Senate. A return to normal, the time of the New Republic first proved to be much more popular than the Empire had become in its last years. However, the philosophical elites of the planet still called for a reform that would see an enlightened, providential ruler take power. This idea became more and more rooted in the Anaxsi’s minds, pushing some to draft plans for an ideal Empire where HuMan High Culture would be moderated, and where all Force religions would be banned.
When the Yuuzhan Vong War started, however, Anaxes was ready to commit its full power to help and stop the invaders. But Borsk Fey’lya's [x] government was weak and ill-prepared, causing massive defeats to the New Republic, which, even with the aid of the Imperial Remnant, was unable to push back the extra-galactic aliens. Even though Anaxes held throughout the war, the low morale, combined with previous disarmament laws, made the Anaxsi’s involvement unremarkable, whilst brewing a political situation that would explain “opportunism” later in history.
The distrust was never so high as when the Galactic Alliance was formed, leading to an awkward situation. The Anaxsi did collaborate on the reconstruction effort but also opened to Imperial diplomacy, offering to host the signing of a mutual defence pact between the Galactic Alliance and the Fel Empire [x] in case other extra-galactic threatened the galaxy. Most of the post-Yuuzhan Vong War was spent in reconstruction and peaceful management, with time-to-time rants in the Senate, turmoil on the planet, and Imperial Mission collaboration. The Anaxsi came to like this new Empire, similar to what they had dreamt about, and many left the Alliance to join the adventure and live a satisfying life.
But with every peaceful and uneventful length of time, something came to break the routine, in the form of the failure of Project Ossus [x]. Its sabotage by the Sith [x] could only mean war between the Alliance and the Empire, but the large unpopularity of the former meant many worlds defected to the Empire or decided to remain neutral in the war. Anaxes was one of those worlds that decided to remain neutral in the first few months and then ally with the Empire as it won the battle of Botajef [x]. Directly menacing Coruscant, Anaxes was blockaded until Caamas fell [x], and then rejoiced over the victory of the Empire. Massive celebrations feasted the end of an unpopular, distrusted regime, and welcomed Roan Fel [x] as the new ruler of the galaxy.
Fel Empire [x] and Dark Krayt’s Galactic Empire [x] (130 - 138 ABY)
Anaxsi officials sent to Coruscant to bow to the Emperor were shocked to learn of the Ossus Massacre [x], and since Force Users were already so frowned upon on Anaxes, it was normal they ask when the Empire would get rid of the Sith. Unable to answer, the Emperor dismissed them, only to be slaughtered a few days later as the Sith staged their coup [x]. Learning that the true Emperor was still alive, Anaxes started the duplicitous game of covertly supporting the rebels of the Empire-in-exile [x]. Sith tyranny quickly became a burden for the planet, and rebellions quickly broke out. Even though the True Empire was not in a very favourable position, many on Anaxes were ready to cast the Sith yoke away, and some did, only to be repressed by the Sith-Imperial loyalists. Civil war almost broke out on the planet, but thanks to a coalition of careful politicians of Oliva, Tevinter and Yularen families, it was narrowly avoided as the leading instances on Anaxes made concessions to the loyalists while appeasing the Sith-Imperials.
Through a combination of bribery, targeted assassinations and manipulation, these politicians managed to preserve Anaxes from total war, until Imperial forces began to conduct raids into the Core. At the moment, Sith's power had become fragmented and the ruling council of Anaxes assumed it would be easy to seize power. Having subverted Moff’s successor, they assassinated the former to see the latter being put in charge of the planet. With this position of power acquired, the Sith Empire becoming unpopular, many militias ready to rebel and advancing forces loyal to Roan Fel, the council decided to rebel and free Anaxes. The fight proved indeed very easy, with minimal casualties and resistance from the Sith-Imperials. Once Anaxes was freed, it participated in the late stages of the war by hunting down any Sith they heard about until peace was declared and the Empire-in-exile, Galactic Alliance Remnant [x] and New Jedi Order [x] coalesced forces into the Galactic Federation Triumvirate [x].
Galactic Federation Triumvirate [x] and Dark Age (138 ABY - 835 ABY)
Remaining under the nominal authority of the Empire, but ruled autonomously by an Azure Imperium entity, Anaxes enjoyed a period of enlightenment in the aftermath of the war, as it seemed it would be one of the last wars against the Sith. With Jedi and Imperials at last united, it appeared peace would last long. With the rise of the Republican school of thought on Anaxes, the establishment of a new Ruling Council of aristocrats, a massive reconstruction effort and strong political unity, a new golden age was on the horizon.
For centuries, the Anaxsi continued to hold an important role in the Triumvirate, deciding to help the funding of the reconstruction of many planets with Vong technology around 424 ABY, happy to collaborate on the resurrection of Alderaan, Byss and so many others.
The Gulag Plague ravaged the planet like many others.
In response, the Azure System Commonwealth [x] was founded to institute an isolationist policy to regenerate the environment, population and economy in hopes of avoiding total downfall. The policies proved quite effective.
By the end of the Gulag Plague, Anaxes’ face had changed considerably, with the new Verdure Party coming to power after having offered an audacious plan to restore Anaxes to grandeur. Even though the Party was far from usual given the standards of the rigid Anaxsi society, it was given a chance to rule and used that time in power to convert destroyed urban districts into green spaces and allow a return to a natural state. Overall, the Verdure Party’s mandate was very successful and allowed a peaceful integration into the Galactic Republic [x] under Senator Riyo Eekway.
Galactic Republic [x] and One Sith [x] (835 - 847 ABY)
The integration in the Galactic Republic was very successful, allowing a class of politicians to rise on Anaxes, and bringing about ideas of authoritarian democracy in the stead of imperialism. In the meantime, economic processes of globalisation were conducted once more to allow Anaxes to step up to its former industrial standards. Thanks to the Verdure Party’s policies, most industries were already clean, but not fit to produce space ships or stations: most of the factories had been designed for small, civilian products, and the military-industrial complex direly needed to be redrawn.
The efforts to resurrect the jewel of industry on Anaxes dragged on for years, but the government wanted to exalt the pride of shipbuilding and naval expertise. The titanic project of the White Crown was launched as soon as the naval docks had reopened, a call for foreign investment and to promote economic tourism on the Azure Jewel. For months, the space city nearly eclipsed the sun of Anaxes in the sky, people working tirelessly to make the “biggest naval achievement Anaxes ever undertook” (as per pro-Republican words) a reality. However, the project suffered delays and the anti-government press quickly opened up a campaign, criticising the station and calling it a maw, a disaster, and demanding the station be scrapped to prevent further losses.
Quickly, the White Crown became the symbol of a lavish regime, weak and inherently corrupt. A strong anti-Republican opposition coalesced and brought instability to an already fragile parliamentary system. Weeks after weeks, new political coalitions were born, trying to rule an ungovernable system, with the Galactic Republic losing the war against the One Sith in the background. Whilst democracy had brought peace and prosperity, the perceived progressivism of its radical tenants proved unpopular, with no solution in sight to restore order.
The loss of Coruscant in 837 ABY to the hands of the One Sith proved to be a fatal blow to pro-Republican support on Anaxes. Quickly, the political landscape of the planet changed again and the anti-Republican coalition rose to power. Consisting of a broad range of sensibilities, they were not at all united in their pro-Imperial sensibilities. Some accepted the idea of the One Sith taking over, some wanted a one-party democracy, and some desired a military junta to maintain order… They debated for a long time until the One Sith armada showed up [x] at their door and they were forced to realise no chances were given: if they didn’t comply, they would die to the last. At the same time, Bando Gora cultists were on the rise in peripheric sectors of the planet, and this was a threat the Anaxsi had to face too.
Under the lead of Darth Adekos, the One Sith swooped in to protect the Anaxsi and destroy the Bando Gora death cult. With the collaboration of the anti-Republicans, utter victory was brought about and Anaxes fell under Sith rule.
The new overlord of the Azure Jewel intended to respect the Anaxsi but to keep it under strict surveillance. Due to the rather independent mind, the planet had brewed since its very first days, the Sith intended to establish a military base [x] to have a stranglehold on the capital and house a sizable garrison. However, the planet was not given to a military or Sith administrator but left in the hands of the anti-Republicans. Emerging from this rather broad coalition, a party of National Conservatism, with proponents of Ultramilitarism or Oligarchy making a strong minority, rose to power, reducing defenders of Liberal or Authoritarian Democracy to the role of political opposition. However, the government was forced to accept the establishment of Darth Venefica on the planet, building for her a grand domain to ensure the One Sith of the devotedness of Anaxes to serve its Sith masters. Quickly, she gained influence and popularity on the planet, effectively taking power from the Anaxes Imperial Party. The Anaxsi were not concerned by such a takeover as they knew the Sith Lady had no real foothold on Anaxes whatsoever, and her power was truly limited to a handful pro-One Sith Anaxsi, and the Sith military base. However, when Darth Venefica denounced the Emperor and entered a rebellion, Anaxes made sure the Lady was isolated in her military base, allowing loyalists to attack and raze the facility, bringing about the end of the rebellion. In the aftermath, the ruling council made sure the One Sith would not build anything more on Anaxsi soil, thus ensuring autonomy for Anaxes.
One Sith Remnant [x], Galactic Alliance [x] and Core Imperial Confederation [x] (847 ABY - 859 ABY)
When Anaxes believed peace would finally be achieved in their system and their planet would rest, the war suddenly took a turn for the worst. The One Sith had been fighting endlessly to push further back the frontiers of their empire, but, even with the Galactic Republic collapsed, forces of democracy and liberty were reorganising. With one tremendous push, the newly formed Galactic Alliance brought the Sith to heel and shattered their dominion over the Core. In a matter of weeks, the Sith-Imperials were driven out and ebbed to the farthest regions of the Rim. Whilst the two states clashed for control, some forces managed to escape to Anaxes and established a military junta with the help of the pro-Imperials. This remnant, not a match for the Alliance, profited from the Omega War to secure its hold on the system and make Imperialism reign a little longer. Eventually, they were driven out of Anaxes, and the junta was abolished but continued to fight on for years and maintain a state of piracy in the outskirts of the sector. Some pro-Imperial families and companies continued to support their activities, but as the Alliance installed itself, the One Sith remnants vanished into oblivion.
The Jedi made sure to get rid of the Sith influence everywhere they could, razing and purifying the ruins of Darth Venefica’s temple and seizing the leftover assets the One Sith had abandoned. In this task, they raced against some of the more radical pro-Imperials on Anaxes, who were trying to prepare arms caches and arm their revolutionary movement. After some clashes in the periphery of Pols Anaxes, the Noble Council intervened and the Garde d’Azure dispersed the various parties brawling to control the weapons. While the Alliance secured the majority of the weapons, some heavy guns fell into the hands of the revolutionary pro-Imperials.
For this reason, and given the perceived mistrust of the Alliance by the Anaxsi, the Jedi decided to establish a watch over the planet, keeping the previous institutions in power but scrutinizing them very heavily. From time to time, they would demand an official to be relieved from his function, or replaced by another, more sympathetic to the Alliance.
Eventually, however, the Alliance became bogged down in conflict with the First Order [x], an imperial resurrection of a centralised state. Some of the more extreme pro-Imperials decided to serve as volunteers in this new state, and the ruling council happily organised their transfer, too eager to get rid of the revolutionaries. However, with the conflict dragging on, the Alliance began to suffer from the protracted war, and unrest began to grow in the capital. With collapse becoming imminent, the pro-Imperials made their move to secure once again their planet and establish a new imperial government. Once the Alliance withdrew from the Azure system, the Anaxsi waited patiently for the First Order’s arrival, only to learn that it had become bogged too into a war on its southwestern frontier, and was facing destruction. Once it too disappeared, refugees fleeing the Ssi-Ruuvi menace flocked to the near Sith Empire but also took on to establish an imperial government in the Core, the first since the One Sith reign, the Core Imperial Confederation.
The Imperials coming to the Core worlds were welcomed as heroes on Anaxes. Though the people were becoming increasingly disenchanted with the unending wars and political instability, there was still a powerful pro-Imperial feeling that would make the society reluctant to accept Jedi rule but eager to throw all previous yokes in hope of an imperial government. For many, the Core Imperial Confederation was the perfect government, free of Sith tyranny and harkening back to the glorious days of the New Galactic Empire. Under the reign of the Core-Imperials, Anaxes was able to set up its naval production and become the uncontested naval academy of the Core. The Azure System Commonwealth was on the rise again, with political forces shifting again to represent the current background. For a long, monarchists and imperials had been divided into two different parties, but the Core Imperial Confederation’s government system allowed the forces to merge, with Alternative for Anaxes and the Azure Restoration Movement merging into Anaxes’s Imperial People’s Party. With this singular force, the pro-Imperials managed to consolidate their majority and establish a solid grasp on the institutions of the planet. With the main offices in hand, the pro-Imperials made moves to re-militarise the society and reinforce its defences, hoping to become a hub for the Core-Imperials and their military. In the meantime, they leased a significant amount of forces to the Imperial Army, allowing many an Anaxsi to serve in the military and gain experience for future wars.
Eventually, however, an economic situation presented itself on Anaxes with the planet gradually losing its agricultural autonomy and becoming reliant on imports to feed all of its population. This became a clear problem, as Anaxes’s freedom of government had been allowed by the quasi-autarky the planet enjoyed in most of the vital domains of production. But the Supreme Chancellor of the Confederation cared little for Anaxes’s autonomy since he was hoping for a more interdependent state to grow and replace the rather divided and individualist planets that made up the Core Imperial Confederation. This led to growing discord between the ruling councils of Anaxes and the political offices of Coruscant, making some fear that the situation might grow out of hand.
Once the Core had been stabilised and all of its planets found themselves under the rule of either the Corellian Confederation or the Core Imperial Confederation, the situation came to a gradual calm, with anarchy disappearing. However, it also meant that the Confederation, which had based its expansion and stability on conquest, began stagnating and encountering instability, with the eventual independence of warlords, and the foundation of successor states forced to flee the Core in face of the onslaught of the Sons of Ession. With the Confederation falling apart, Anaxes was forced to bend to the nascent Grayson Imperium and accept the rule of the Jedi once more.
Grayson Imperium [x] and Galactic Alliance []x] (859 ABY - Present times)
The ruling families of Anaxes had decided to be patient under the rule of Cedric Grayson , as the Republicanist influence among the high spheres of the Azure Jewel saw his leadership as one of an enlightened tyrant, a light-sided version of the New Galactic Empire they had once thrived under. The very use of the adjective "Imperial" when it came to reorganising the Anaxsi into a centralised war unit proved that the Grayson Imperium was not unsympathetic to the ideals of the Empire. Many on Anaxes were content with that, even if that meant letting a Jedi rule the Core in the stead of the Core Imperial Confederation.
But as Cedric Grayson was disposed of his empire and a new entity emerged, many saw what was coming. The birth of the Galactic Alliance, renewed by the union of the Republic and Core Alliance, meant a return to federalism, parliamentary rule, and inevitable careerism and corruption. This, most Anaxsi could not accept. Their cradle of civilization and prosperity would be threatened by such a government, and it was necessary to refuse it. At first, only a small group of nobles genuinely considered armed resistance as a viable option, and the majority of the Anaxsi wanted to refuse accession into the Alliance through diplomatic or democratic means. However, it became quite clear that those solutions were not meant to be, and the violent party rose to prominence under the leadership of young Julius Haskler , a brash noble who craved battle as a way to establish his prestige. Self-titling himself "General" and uniting a group of noble militias, Julius began a campaign of harassment to force the Alliance out, as he had no means to face it conventionally and defeat it. Instead, he tried to curry support across the noble houses of the planet, garnering allies but also clearing the allegiance of some houses who wanted to side with the natural successor of the Grayson Imperium. Guerilla warfare spared Pols Anaxes, as the pro-Imperials tried to sway the population. Instead, the militias' operations concentrated on getting rid of the anti-war movement and destroying the Alliance's forces' supplies to weaken them. The arrival of New Imperial Special Forces made the conflict turn in favour of the pro-Imperials, who quickly reorganised the militias into a Brigade of guerilla fighters that would become known as Haskler's Husars. The war was coming to a close, as pro-Imperials now challenged the Alliance forces on an open battlefield, but some in the entourage of Julius Haskler became worried as reports of growing reinforcements for Alliance troops began to pour in. For many, it meant that the Alliance was fed up with Anaxes not taking care of its internal affairs and that it had decided to intervene. While the General prepared its last move, a group of pro-Imperials organised Operation Werwolf, designed to hide weapons caches, and soldiers and prepare the accession of discreet pro-Imperials to power in case defeat awaited the pro-Imperials combatants. That way, Imperialism wouldn't be rooted out and later, the secessionists would have a foothold on which to launch another attempt.
The coup turned terribly for the pro-Imperials, and Julius Haskler was surprised to see the Alliance had managed to land special forces to defend the Alliance supporters in Pols Anaxes. Prepared to face only an Anaxsi militia and exhausted Alliance forces, Haskler's Husars failed to take the Governorate Palace and secure Sirpar Station. After a day of fighting in vain, the pro-Imperials called to retreat and managed to break the Alliance's blockade, fleeing towards New Imperial space.
The aftermath of the civil war was a period of suspicion and dissent. It became clear that all the Anaxsi that had opposed the pro-Imperials were not necessarily pro-Alliance either. At the same time, pro-Imperials were suspected everywhere, with theories arising that the exiled pro-Imperials had only done so to cover up the establishment of a pro-Imperial deep state slowly infiltrating the Garde d'Azure, the government and all of the society. In truth, only a handful of agitators were active in the first years, and the agents of Operation Werwolf were mostly staying hidden at the moment. But as a result of this fractured post-war society, many changes were made by the Azure System Commonwealth to ensure the secessionists would not rise again. In a surprising turn of events, a woman was elected as Prime Minister of the Commonwealth, brushing away the now frowned-upon HuMan High Culture. Carolina Tevinter would ensure the system stayed loyal to the Alliance, by strongly relying on Axum to enforce her policies of well-thought reconstruction and de-traumatization of the society, trying to create a unified social group by forgetting what allegiances had been upheld during the war. She nonetheless made sure to choose her proteges to prevent a rise to power of pro-Imperials.
The new generation of Anaxsi that came to power after the war was seemingly untouched by the civil war, and it could only mean Tevinter's actions had been a frank success. However, pro-Imperials were still making their way into the power structure, discreetly occupying whatever posts of power they could. Most of the time, these local administrators could do nothing but encourage the pro-Imperial feeling whilst remaining loyal to the Alliance, but one managed to stand out.
While the Alliance struggled to keep its border safe from the Maw's attacks, a new Senator was appointed for Anaxes. Tevinter had already been made representative of the Axum planet, and Nayeïr Orega was chosen to make Anaxes's voice heard in the Senate. He, however, was not a successful child of Carolina Tevinter's policies, but an agent of Operation Werwolf, patiently rising thanks to his talent and connections. Like many other pro-Imperials, he started his career like any other Senator, slowly getting used to the Rotunda. But he quickly started to garner friendships and connections, getting in touch with avowed Imperials such as Grand Moff Vel'alari. With a web of pro-Imperial dissenters slowly consolidating in the Senate and a strong feeling of distaste for the latest policies and defeats of the Alliance, a civil war could only spark soon, further encouraged by the Empire's actions on Kuat to destroy pro-Alliance support. - Pols Anaxes:
