And a six pack to go

He sat alone at the table of an apartment too small for a family and more than enough for one washed out man. A single light hung from a wire to illuminate his chosen spot in the otherwise dark room as a song played in the background.
Guess it's true, I'm not good at a one-night stand
He thought of his ex-wife and their three kids. He had worked hard, harder than most, but he had been young and impulsive. His commander had told him not every woman could handle beimg the wife of a stormtrooper, but when she left he still hadn't seen it coming.

But I still need love 'cause I'm just a man
These nights never seem to go to plan

"Ain't that the truth." He said as if the song was talking to him.

I don't want you to leave, will you hold my hand?

His pale right hand reached out and tenderly took hold of the gooseneck of the tall brown bottle. He had said he would quit and he had meant that but things change for everyone, him more than most. He lifted the half empty bottle and poured the brownish liquid into a shot glass, set the bottle down and poured the shot down his throat.

"Oh, won't you stay with me?" he said singing along to the song, "'Cause you're all I need, This ain't love, it's clear to see. But darling, stay with me"

He thought of his many endeavors. His breif friendship with Paddy Quick and the junk they had halked to make a few credits. He thought of the long days and sleepless nights of trying to get the boloball league off the ground. He shook his head as he had done alot lately and poured another shot as he looked at the blaster that sat beside the bottle.

Why am I so emotional?
No, it's not a good look, gain some self-control
And deep down I know this never works
But you can lay with me so it doesn't hurt

He shot the drink down and then just put the bottle in his mouth. The bitter bite of alcohol stung his throat and curdled his stomach. His guts tightened and he clenched his jaw as he fought the body's natural reaction to too much alcohol too fast. He dropped the bottle on the floor beside it's twin. The two fifths' narrow spouts stared up from the floor at him with those black knowing eyes.

He couged and his chest felt like it was in a vise as the cough turned into a fit. His lungs burned enough to make him think he had swallowed a white phosphorous grenade as his teary blood shot eyes rested on the blaster again.

"Oh, won't you stay with me?" he said as his shaking hand reasched for the blaster "'Cause you're all I need" he croaked out as he drew the blaster across the table, the sound of the durasteel case on the plasteel table eerily loud. "This ain't love, it's clear to see. But darling, stay with me"

Oh, won't you stay with me?
Cause you're all I need,
This ain't love, it's clear to see.
But darling, stay with me

He rested the blaster in his lap for a moment as he sat staring at the charge. His rumpled grey suit his closest thing to a friend.

Oh, won't you stay with me?

He slowly put the blaster beneath his chin.

"Cause you're all I need." He said his voice a whisper before a bright flash illuminated the room and the man lay on the floor.

This ain't love, it's clear to see.
But darling, stay with me
