And Some Have Greatness Thrust Upon Them (Hugh Seyley)

Wardens of the Sky were, all things considered, culturally tight-knit but personally distant. You could spent a whole career alone, encountering maybe only two or three Wardens over your lifetime. Mara had been raised, in part, by two of them -- Jorus Merrill and [member="Chloe Blake"]. Apart from them, though, she'd never met another, even now that she was accounted a full-trained Warden.

But when pirates hit a refugee ship, and a young guy with a mild Force presence started using Warden-style tactics and skills-

Cool.

Mara dragged the last of the defeated pirates into their ship's escape pod and sagged, exhausted, against the bulkhead. She folded her arms and surveyed her new ally half-lidded. He was a good bit bigger than her, and taller, and maybe as much as a decade older. At a guess, though, he was only half-trained.

"So," she said, closing the hatch to the refugee ship with a gesture, "how long you been a Warden?"

Eyeing the girl standing next to him, Hugh tried to understand what was so miraculous about her, barely listening to her question. It was admirable how strong and skilled she was and that really confused, yet shocked him. He could sense the girl was definitely not as old as him, but his set of skills seemed far more superior.

When he realised what the girl had asked, he was a little bit surprised to learn she could have understood that from just the way he acted (at least that's what he thought the girl had used to find out he was a Warden).

"I've been a Warden for not so long. I've been utilising these skills for no more than a few months."

He put his hands into his trousers' pockets and just continued looking straight at the girl, waiting for more to come. He was not too talkative in general, but that day had been rough for him, so he tried to avoid asking questions himself and just limit talking to the bare minimum.
