And the beat goes on...

Coruscant, Level 103

Nameless was still here. Her friends were still here. Almost six months now, and Zandra's life had taken a swift turn. For the better, at least, it felt better. She was still wandering, sure, still getting caught up in all sorts of less than favorable situations, yes, but she wasn't wandering by herself. She had family. Her, Cal, and...

"Bean," she told the bar tender as he passed her another glass, "I call 'im Bean. Cal calls 'im whatever Cal wants, but I been callin' 'im Bean since before Cal knew 'e knocked me up, ya see? Ways I see it, I got more right to call the kid whatever I want than 'im. 'Ee didn' carry the boy for nine months then have 'im ripped from his body, did 'e?"

The Rodian nodded sagely as the Echani woman downed another glass. It was her own private celebration. Cal had the baby for the night, and Zandra fully planned on taking advantage of that fact.
Being a mommy wasn't the great chore everyone in the 'Verse made it out to be. Zandra found it to be actually quite easy. Common sense. Feed the baby when he cries, hold him often, change him when he needs it, keep an eye on him. Maybe every so often rub a little whiskey on the bottle to help him sleep a little better, but hey, it worked for her mom!

"Wow, Z, a mom? Never would'a seen this one comin'."
Zandra smiled and raised her empty glass to the heavily tattooed Twi'lek male that stepped up to join her at the bar, "You doing okay? You 'n Cal?"

"You best believe it, kiddo," she grinned back, leaning in to give her old friend a hug, "Cals been alright. Handled things better than I expected, to be honest."

Poor Cal. His entirely Galaxy had been turned upside down too. He didn't have to stick around, of course. She didn't expect it, but the fact that he did spoke volumes. Gave up everything for her. Absolutely everything. And what did she give him in exchange?

"And how's... business?" the Twi'lek asked quietly, leaning close to Zandra, "Heard you started up a new line of work?"

Ah. So word had spread. Pirating was a less lucrative business than she'd expected, but it still got her by. Maybe when Bean got a little older and she had more time, she might look for more... legitimate work. She had to set a good example after all, right? Maybe she could go bounty hunting instead? It was a little less illegal than pirating. Maybe, but for now-

"Business is booming," she lied, motioning for the rodian to refill her drink, "Can't even complain."

She could complain, but that wouldn't find her work, now would it?
