DESCRIPTION

The Ando Mining Collective has existed in some form since shortly after the Battle of Yavin. Its history can be divided into two distinct eras: before and after Brakkus Ka'bo took control.

Originally known as the Ka'bo Mining Company, it was founded by the Ka'bo family on Ando. For much of its existence, the company remained a small, family-run business operating primarily within the Ando System, while also trading throughout the Lambda Sector. Early in its operation, the company secured mining rights on Ando Prime for the extraction of vonium. This newfound wealth this mineral afforded allowed the Ka'bo Mining Company to expand, developing additional mines within the Ando System. For centuries, the company operated in this way, generating a steady and reliable income.

Everything changed when Brakkus Ka'bo assumed control. Abandoning the company's safe and conservative business model, Brakkus ushered in a new era of aggressive expansion. Less profitable mines and outdated equipment were sold off to competitors, replaced by high-risk, high-reward mining contracts. Operating costs were slashed by cutting corners, including the neglect of environmental preservation on several planets. These and other strategies provided the capital necessary for the Ka'bo Mining Company to absorb many of its competitors within the Lambda Sector. As the company grew to become the largest native mining operation in the sector, it was rebranded as the Ando Mining Collective to reflect its transformation.

With this expansion, the company diversified into new industries. It began manufacturing and selling its own mining supplies, including vehicles, droids, tools, and other specialized equipment. The company's long history of working on the inhospitable ice-world of Ando Prime solidified its reputation as a mining operation capable of thriving in the most hostile environments. More recently, the Ando Mining Collective has ventured into the large-scale space salvage industry.

The Ando Mining Collective now seeks to extend its reach beyond the Lambda Sector and into the greater galaxy. With considerable wealth and connections, the company aims to become the leading mining operation in the Mid-Rim and, eventually, the entire galaxy. With its strong Aqualish identity, it is likely the Collective will continue to be based on Ando, with much of its profits reinvested in the planet.

RATIONALE

The Ando Mining Collective (formerly the Ka'bo Mining Company) has remained in the Ka'bo family throughout its entire history. After the passing of his grandfather, Brakkus' father assumed control of the business. As the sole heir, Brakkus was next in line to inherit the company. To prepare for this role, he became deeply involved in learning its inner workings and daily operations. However, he and his father often clashed over their differing visions for the company's future, fostering a growing resentment in Brakkus.

One day, Brakkus and his father were scheduled to visit a nearby asteroid belt to evaluate its potential for mineral extraction. At the last minute, Brakkus canceled his plans, leaving his father to attend the meeting alone. During the visit, a catastrophic failure in the ship's life support system occurred, resulting in the deaths of everyone on board. With his father's untimely death, Brakkus became the new president of the Ando Mining Collective and initiated a thorough investigation into the disaster. Despite exhaustive efforts, no clear evidence of foul play was found, and the incident was officially deemed a freak accident.

Now, with complete authority over the family enterprise, Brakkus Ka'bo is free to guide the Ando Mining Collective in any direction he sees fit.
