Anime Fans?

So, I have watched quite a bit of anime, even Roleplayed on some sites. My favorites do not simply encompass the battle types, yet I find those entice me the most. Kaze No Stigma, Hellsing, Dragonball Z, things like these. I could name so many more, but do not think it matters as those kind of name the genre in many ways.

I recently rewatched the Cell Games from Dragonball Z, and now I am realizing there are no shows that I have watched that reached the epicness of that show for me. From Goku going all out, to the Cell Jrs whooping the Z Fighters, to Gohans earth rattling transformation to Super Saiyan 2.

I wonder, is there any shows that near the epicness of said show/games? It doesn't necessarily have to be Anime, I am simply looking for something as amazing.

Disney's Princess
Cowboy Bebop - Classic Cool
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - Classic Cyberpunk
Gundam Unicorn - Classic Mecha

Emberlene's Daughter, The Jedi Generalist
Revy vs Roberta is an epic fight
Goku vs Vegeta in Resurrection F was the best fight of the movie

I have a lot more and a lot more animes but there are some that have great moments

Code Geass. Mecha fun with a good deal of plotting from our main protag, with a good deal of character devlopment and politics. And much, much more.

Hunter X Hunter. A lot of fighting, and fun character interactions and developments.

Redline. I have no words to describe how simply amazing fun this movie was. Cars with guns and sci fi. Also robots. And did i mention death race?

xHolic. Not quite as epic, more mundane. Mystery and supernatural.

Hyouka. Good plot and character interactions. Mystery

If you're looking for Shounen action, Fairy Tail.

If you're looking for great characterization, Fairy Tail.

If you're looking for solid plot, Fairy Tail.

If you're looking for decent-budget animation, Fairy Tail.

Basically, what I'm saying is "watch Fairy Tail."

Look upon my avatar and you will see the favorite of all my anime characters almost ever. Fullmetal Alchemist, Black Cat, and D. Gray-Man were the first manga I ever read, and Durarara!!, Parasyte, and Inuyasha were my first exposures to anime, and I've watched Bakuman, Spice and Wolf, and a couple of other ones that I really liked.

And, for the love of God, Bakuman =/= Bakugan. NO TRANSFORMING MONSTER BALLS INVOLVED.

Sadly never ever going to get animated. But if Parasyte could get an anime, then anything is possible.

I hated Resurrection. There was just so little in it. The Goku v Vegeta was indeed good, I'll give you that. But that's about it. The frieza v Goku fight was a joke. Weiss suddenly pulling out that he could travel through time a few minutes felt way to ridiculous for me, etc.

Inuyasha was awesome. Fullmetal is sick, in all variations.

Basically though of all the names here, that I recognize, none are anywhere as close as the epic battles and awesomeness shown in Dragonball. Come on people!

And a sad note, though I love Gundam style anime and the mechs etc, they tend to not be as super badass as I am referring to!

Avoid the shonen jump stuff. You'll come to realize how samey and boring it all is.

If you want sci-fi, check out the following:

Universal Century Gundam. Specifically in the order of: Mobile Suit Gundam Movie Trilogy (aka 0079) > 0080 > 08th MS Team > 0083 > Zeta Gundam > ZZ Gundam > Char's Counterattack > Gundam Unicorn. It's good stuff.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes might be up your alley. 110 episode sci-fi OVA series. Lots of giant space battles, but also a lot of political stuff. It's a classic.

Neon Genesis Evangelion. 26 episodes + 1 movie (End of Evagelion). A lot of people would call this a classic. It's pretty sad, and cerebral to an extent.

Macross Plus: 4 episode OVA. Story of two test pilots, who have personal history, trying to one up each other and win the military contract for their respective corporations fighter jets. It's really, really good. Fun fact: Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston voices the main character, Isamu Dyson. He's so ridiculously good at playing an arrogant jerk.

Akira: an anime movie that played a big part in anime becoming big in the west. It's the definition of a classic, and hasn't aged at all since it came out. A must watch for any anime fan.

Cowboy Bebop, Ghost In The Shell (Original movie + Stand Alone Complex series), Samurai Champloo, Fist of the North Star, are all really really excellent too. There's real, classic stuff out there. Don't bog yourself down with the shonen flavor of the month stuff.

This deserves all my my likes, from every account, and every other account I can possibly make until the forum scripting can no longer support the numeric value.
I grew up on Wing (blegh) but 0088 is pretty classic as well.

Now, there's pretty much nothing that is going to live up to the fame and popularity of Dragonball, simply due to how long and vast and surreally action-packed they were. There are a lot of old but gold anime out there though that are a good watch for that kind of stuff.

Two of my favorite sci fi anime of all time, one of which is probably one of the most iconic anime of all time, are Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star. The former has a great plot if you keep up with it, but is a little more touch-and-go as far as all-out action goes. Then there's Trigun, which is just utterly a classic western sci-fi.

Darker Than Black has a pretty interesting plot (if you can get your head around it all) and good action and suspense as well, and is a lot more modern than the four shows I mentioned so far.

Ghost in the Shell is... well, it's Ghost in the Shell; Great if you've played and love games like Deus Ex. Stand-Alone Complex was one of my favorite shows during grade school.

All I can say is, don't watch anything modern, it's all kawaii/romance/ADHD poop!

You wanna go SUPER far back? Harlock. And not the CGI movie on Netflix, the REAL Harlock. Those were aired in English before anime was even a western fad.

Edit: Watch pretty much anything voiced by Steven Blum. Seriously. His voice acting is just so OP it makes everything turn to gold.

Brah! Akira.... One of my favorite anime of all time. Still looks beautiful.

Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust is pretty good. Dead Man wonderland is pretty good as well, but it hasn't really reached the sort of peak you are looking for.

Tbh, I read all of FMA before I started watching it, so I only really enjoyed and immersed myself in Brotherhood

Oh, also... motherfrakking Trigun... I enjoyed the second series a bit better (Unlimited, or something like that) but it was pretty amazing from start to finish.

Some Jump stuff is good. Gotta admit, I agree that other independent or Square Enix-based series of the same time frames are usually better, though.

Emberlene's Daughter, The Jedi Generalist
[member="Nerius"] that is because there were no takes to it, Freiza is a classic villain yes but Goku beat him when he first became a super saiyan. By the time of Battle of the Gods his and Vegeta's kids could go Super Saiyan from birth almost. So power wise Freiza was outclassed already. He knew he was not going to win, might get something in but once they mentioned that he could reverse time to until Bills destruction once in awhile you knew it was going to be used. Coming from the trainer of the god of destruction well I can buy him having that power sure. So with all of that we knew Freiza was going to lose and maybe get some good shots in, sadly it was very cool fight wise, stake wise there was nothing for interest.

but but something it did do that was cool was have the other Z fighters get to do something I mean really when was the last time Krillian was actually able to be stronger then some enemies? He finally had a chance to show why he was good and cool before. Roshi bulking up to fight was cool and they all got great screen time before the major show.
