One depressing city to another, Ethos City was no different than Denon except you didn't have a bunch of undercover revolutionary rejects running around. That was the vibe Emraj got as he got off the shuttle finding himself on a crowded space port. Chasing Darkwire alone was no easy feat, and he needed a decent partner if he was going to catch them. Corposec had to stop giving him rookies who joined the force with nothing but a degree and two days of blaster training. He needed someone who's head was in the right place and knew what they were doing. The disgruntled detective was given a meeting with the Ethos City Police Department in hopes of finding someone suitable. Must've had a good police force if he had to be sent halfway across the galaxy to find at least one person to be Emraj's partner. But at least the Company was paying for his hotel though that was taken out of his salary. Cheap bastards.
Reaching the spaceport terminal he was supposed to meet with the ECPD who was to take him straight to their headquarters where Emraj was supposed to meet the commissioner of the force who was supposed to set him up with tours around their best precincts. He was already annoyed with the journey here and if this force was a joke he would go back to Denon and pay his own way back if that's what it took. There was an officer who flagged him down, he looked like he was from the commissioner's office considering how dressed he was. Saying nothing, Emraj got into the speeder and they made their way to the precinct. Neon lights and gray skies was something Emraj was accustomed to after spending so much time on Denon so Ethos City was nothing really to look at yet the driver insisted on making small talk with the man. "How's Ethos City?" He asked.
"Don't know." Was all he could say. He didn't wanna be rude to the guy even though the city just gave him so many Denon vibes he couldn't stop thinking about it. Thankfully the driver recognized his faux pas and just kept his eyes on ahead of him until they reached the precinct. The speeder parked in a lot to the side of the main entrance. The driver escorted him inside and it up to the commissioner's office.
Walking inside, Emraj saw the commissioner try to hide a screen that was obviously a wire transfer. If it was a buyable police force then maybe he should head home now. But there was probably someone worth traveling the galaxy to find. “Ah investigator. Welcome to Ethos City. We don’t want to waste too much of your time. Here’s the list of the precincts the force has agreed for you to meet. Best of the best.” He said boastfully.
“Thanks.”
“And you should know we have a lot of suitable candidates. Some might just be right under your nose.” The commissioner was clearly referring to himself as he gave Emraj a wide smile. But he just played it off and spoke plainly. “Right, I’ll keep that in mind. I’ll let you know when I’ve found who I need.” And with that Emraj left to do some scouting.
