Antimatter on a Platter (ask)

Tesh looked over the reports coming out of the Mon Calamari Shipyards and winced. The new antimatter reactor his engineers had developed, although more efficient than any other version, still required more antimatter than he was currently able to produce. He would need to get it from outside sources. Unfortunately, he didn't have the connections he needed, and he didn't have anyone to turn to. It was time to make matters, or antimatters, into his own hands.

The most logical solution would be to steal it from somebody, since he didn't have the connections to buy it. Luckily, he knew a couple people in the shipping industry, so he could try to find out where antimatter was being shipped. The second order of business would be to hire a mercenary or pirate crew to steal the antimatter for him, preferably without his name attached to the heist.

First, he would have to find out where a shipment was headed. He quickly dispatched a transmission to one of his contacts in the shipping business. He knew they were competitive, and he was hoping they would have an eye on a rival company's shipments. If he could find out where a shipment was headed and steal it, it would benefit both him and the contact.

The second part was to hire a mercenary or pirate crew. Tesh had very little experience with this sort of thing, but his brief stint with the Red Ravens had given him a tiny bit of knowledge on the matter, enough to post an advertisement on a well-known mercenary holonet site. Obviously, he would have to leave his name out of the posting. He was already under surveillance for his disappearance, and one false move could land him on some barren asteroid prison. With that in mind, he set up the following advertisement:
To Whom it May Concern:
I am looking to hire a mercenary group to hijack a shipment of antimatter and deliver it to Sanctuary ASAP. Respond if you are interested, and I will provide my contact details so that we may discuss this privately.
He had purposely chosen a random planet to pick up the antimatter. Having it delivered directly to Mon Calamari would seem suspicious, and he could always pick it up at another location. With the posting up, he sat back and waited for a response, either from his contact or from a mercenary.

The circular flarestar class attack shuttle had been a relic of past eras, like the Echani Sith who sat at its helm. They were however fast and nimble, even by today’s standards. Using Sun Guard shock troops he’d made great use of these craft for his own purposes, and now unhindered by the limits of a Sith Council, he would again.

Browsing for possible contracts of interest, to increase his powerbase in key areas, one message came up as interesting, not only because it was easily done, and would present him with a valuable target for his own operations, but because of how it was sent. Subtly, if his contact remained anonymous this was of benefit, as he couldn’t be eliminated easily, such traits he needed in those he worked with, to ensure their continued use to him.

Raien Keth had no such desire to leave his name out of the response, he wanted to be known, he wanted that name to carry weight, so it was sent encrypted but with full details of just who he was. Nobody knew what he was capable of, that would need to change. It did however mean… that nobody knew what he was capable of, the thought satisfied and repelled his strategic mind equally for the possible options it gave him.

His ship was crewed by two simple protocol droids, C-3PX’s, unassuming models, they were however effective at catching people off guard. Once upon a decade Raien Keth had been a Dark Jedi, a much weaker man, but such training and thinking had been his specialty.

Upon establishing communication, whoever looked at the screen would see a scarred face looking back, like it had seen more conflict than any one being should be able physically endure, crushed silver eyes, clad in black battle robes, rakattan fire runes burning around his form. The Betrayer waited for the information without a word, either directly or anonymously.

Phade took a deep breath and sidled back from the access panel. He had been effecting a quick repair, a simple flow regulator, that if attended to quickly wouldn't turn his ship into a fireball. He handed the spent regulator to the droid that idled next to him, who took it to be recycled. He then walked back to the cockpit, which doubled as his office when away from his....other offices. He had his second droid hooked into the computer network, he had access to too many files to let passive security only. He took the seat next to the rotund shape of the droid and accessed the Darknet, a piggybacked carrier wave that suffused the Holonet and was used by smugglers, pirates, mercenaries and spies to do illicit dealings when not face to face.

A listing shot straight to his attention. Anti-matter was some dangerous stuff, if fairly plentiful around the more advanced systems. He very much would like to know who was after such and for what. Whats more, his personal account could use some credits. He started typing up a response.

To whom it does concern,

I am a pilot and combatant of some skill and am in need of credits. Therefore, I am interested in helping you to alleviate your supply issue in exchange for commensurate remuneration. I am presently local to the area of operation, is there a place where I can meet you or your crew so we can execute this mission?

-Phade

Phade sent it back to the provided contact details, then set the computer terminal to notify him of any response. He then turned and moved over to the pilot chair and began to check over his fuel and other supplies. Luckily, he was doing well in both regards, so his lack of current funds didn't hinder him getting to the job if it was as local as the drop off point made it seem. He'd hate to have to dip into his reserve money as he wasn't currently involved in a mission for the providers of said reserve.
