Anyone Play Yu-Gi-Oh?

Anybody on the site play Yu-Gi-Oh? If so, when'd you get into it and what decks do you use?

I started playing as a young kid in the goat format. Wish I still had all my cards from back then, found a box with cards in my attic before I moved - had like 100 terrible condition cards from back then. Only notable ones were a Relinquished and a Mind Haxorz which was the only card in good condition. None of them were worth money or worth playing, but it was nice nonetheless.

Right now I play OEM, Monarchs, Lightsworns, and Buster Blader.

Started when it first came out, took a break at the second half of GX into 5Ds, but started up again in college because my friends were playing it and still do. Currently play Blue-Eyes, Mermails, Chaos Shadolls, and Kozmos

Gods (each of them have their one), Fusion, XYZ (have to name that one. Love that deck), Blue Eyes, and Dark Magician.

My decks over time, since the first time I watched the show, have been based around specifics, either a set of cards or one singular. For example my Magician deck was based around him, but included as many variants in the magician family as it could, and cards to boost them. Though for example my Obelisk was based around traps and obelisk himself.

Thinking back, I spent waaaaay to much money making my decks...

Kind of a good thing I stopped around GX

I play two decks. One for fun and one to win. The one to win has a heavy emphasis on bringing out Cyber-Stein to the field as quickly as possible to Fusion Summon a Powerful Fusion monster, depending on how late in the duel it tends to be either Cyber End Dragon early on or a Thousand Eyes Restrict later in the duel with the focus on taking control of the opponents Powerful Monster. It only got better once they removed the ban from Cyber-Stein and turned it to a Limited.

My fun deck is a basic Light-Fairy Agent/Sanctuary deck with the attempt to bring fourth Master Hyperion to suppress the opponents field or Arcana for the general Beatstick. If Hyperion is on the field its job is to while suppress, funnel cards into my graveyard for future use since quite a few cards make benefits from having a stacked graveyard. Or I just play three Marshmallons and wait for the opponent to quit out of irritation.

I use a Blue Eyes with the new Silver Syncro Dragon I can summon with my first hand (Almost all the time) I have a Black Luster Soldier and few other XYZ summons to keep me a bit competitive before Pendulums came out, not sure about how it would do now. At locals I could get into the Top 16 from groups. (Bo2 format) with this deck usually.

Most people don't have all the right cards, or often don't have much practice. My mate uses Battle Boxers, always fun to watch him stomp his way to like the finals or top 4 back then.

I'm proud to say that I play yugioh but I don't get many wins to tell you the truth. I run an XYZ utopia deck with rank up cards to get out the other utopia like utopia ray v but I don't have the money to get new cards for my deck or a new deck for that matter.

I always wanted a dragon deck with all types of forms but it will have to wait for now.

Played for quite some time, but stopped because for some reason stuff that is based around luck (buying boosters, not the game itself) gets me addicted pretty fast. (like seriously, I tired gambling on some slot machine once and wasted like 50 euro in like 1-2 hours because I couldn't stop until a friend told me to.)

Also I always feel that yu gi oh is unbalanced compared to other trading card games. The cards feel like they just get stronger with every generation, instead of more elaborate, so if you don't get new ones every generation you will suck hard.

Still I had a lot of fun with it, and still look back on the time with heavy nostalgia. Can't remember what cards I had in the deck I used near the end, but will update as soon as I get home

[member="Taeli Raaf"] - Sweet, those are some nice decks. Always wanted to try Shadolls myself. :)

[member="Jamic"] - Toons used to be my favorite deck, too slow for me now haha. Still an awesome deck though, mad respect.

[member="Acaleus Thorn"] - Buster Blader is awesome, I love all the new support. Destruction Swordsman Fusion is my favorite fusion card ever.

[member="Damien Daemon"] - Gods were my favorite cards back in the day, just behind Exodia though. :p

[member="Reverance"] - Ikr

[member="Darth Carnifex"] - Haha, exactly what I thought when I got back into it a while ago.

[member="Flannigan Mcnash"] - idk wat u meen m4n, f0rc3 0f w1ll 4 life

[member="Thraxis"] - Thousand-Eyes Restrict! So much nostalgia lol, love that card.

[member="Rhan Komo"] - BLS is a fun deck, would love to take that to my locals.

[member="Barr Vexos"] - XYZ-centric decks are always fun, I Iove decks that focus on one type of summoning. I made a Five-Headed Dragon deck a bit ago that focuses on using Heart of the Underdog to fill my hand with vanilla dragon type monsters, then using polymerization to fuse them into a 5k beater. Soul charge to get them back from the grave, fusion recovery to get back polymerization and a dragon, and a small (mostly) vanilla dragon pendulum engine to get a crap-ton out to defend myself if need be. Works a lot better than I anticipated it might.

[member="Lyth Meran"] - Ok Kaiba

[member="Darth Abyss"] - Yeah, power-creep is ridiculous in this game.

[member="Dashka Soon"] - Lulziest character in the show
