Aoede is a young woman ever symbolized by a bird in flight, a fact which is most ironic considering she hasn't been permitted to go beyond the confines of her personal suite or the Goddesses Prayer Room in the City of the Muses for as long as she's been alive. Brought to the City gates and left there as a babe, she was raised in reverence by those who made pilgrimages to the City in order to find enlightenment within the Darksided Nexus. They believed her to be the embodiment of the Goddess Aoede, known for holding dominion over Muse, Trauma Healing, and Tragedy. She was raised to be well versed in all manner of arts, though she took to none quite so naturally as the musical variety. Instruments, vocals, to sing and play were her passions in life, the only thing which helped her to escape the walls she was locked within.
The only time she could be outside was under strict supervision, and even then only within the small garden they had built in her name, which came right off her suite. It was blocked from any other point of entry, there were no windows, just walls, and barely a view up above. They tried to keep it shady, tried to keep her perfect skin from exposure to the sun. She was never really alone, though at the same time she was dreadfully lonely. None would come close, save for the two handmaidens specifically handpicked to dress, bathe and feed her. Aoede was not permitted to do any of these things for herself. Nor was she allowed to walk outside her room, should there be need for her elsewhere she ends up on a litter. Even then it's typically only to the central prayer room, so that she could bless her followers.
Bid to fast while the sun was up, she was limited to when and what she could eat, and this coupled with her lack of freedom to truly stretch her legs left her perpetually exhausted and weakened. At least that fed into the idea that she wasn't to do anything for herself, because after a while she couldn't rightly do much anyway.
What she did have, though, was the Force. She discovered it in her youth, only further prompting them to declare her their Goddess, to proclaim that they had been correct all along. What a great, gloating moment that must have been. For Aoede all it meant was more rules, more traditions, more schedules. In time her free time was taken up with practicing what this mystical power was capable and soon she became rather proficient, even without guidance she managed extraordinary things in the eyes of her followers. She could move things without touch, speak into their minds, cause flames to crawl up along her fingers yet leave nothing in the way of burns, and amplify the soundwaves around her to increase or decease the natural volume of her voice or instruments. And oh how she did love to play her instruments.
That she was forced to practice for most of the day did grow tedious, but she lost herself within it all the same. She couldn't help herself, it was all that she had.
And this is where Aoede remains to this day, stuck within her cushy prison and worshipped deeply, all while the Darksided Nexus continues to twist and corrupt, to tempt her with the Force, and the promise that one day all would be hers.... if she could only find a way out.
