While it's a small station able to work on myriad smaller craft and up to three frigate class craft at a time, the state of the art droid workers, engineering ships and automated outfittings allow this ship with the control of skilled engineers to be able to create quality ships at a rate competing with factories owned by the likes of Kuat Drive. - Linkable:
Although highly costly, Multiple Nest Stations are capable of conjoining by the tips of their bays to be able to increase the size of the ships they can work on not unlike a hive. In effect this creates a single port capable of constructing a heavy cruiser or smaller. The more stations that conjoin to form a grid formation the more of these larger hybrid bays can be created. - Potent Defenses:
High quality armour plating, Ionite Laminate, a tough framework and powerful dual redundant hybrid shields attached to a potent engine make the "Nest" a juggernaut when it comes to defensive potential. - Multi Purpose:
Be it construction, decommissioning, stripping or repair, the "Nest" is able to perform the deed with high levels of efficiency.
- Unarmed:
As a civilian Vessel the "Nest" has no point defense weaponry or weaponry of any kind short of the weapons that are carried by the Avery Security force that are stationed on the ship as both a policing and defense force. Meaning the ship heavily relies on other forces to be able to defend it. - Near Immobile:
Short of being able to move through hyperspace, the station is almost entirely immobile while situated, anything more than being able to balance itself or spin is beyond the yards capability.
History: The Nest was created as a joined project between several of House Aquilas' subsidiaries, with the intention of creating a Station capable of designing and facilitating the construction of the Aquila Merchant Fleet. The station was built with state of the art technology fresh from Corellian shipyards, as well as other components purchased within private markets across the galaxy. The project was immense, and thought to be unlikely, however after several long decades the station was completed, solidifying Felix's father's great work and contribution to the family name. Since then the station has been updated and upgraded frequently with no coin spared, figuring that the quality of the work would reflect the quality of the equipment provided to the hybrid team of droids and live engineers.
Outfitting: Typically Station comfortably homes over twenty three hundred staff and crew members with five percent of the population being hired on for security purposes, Ten percent as members of the Aquilan Quartermasters Guild and finally the vast majority of the remainder split between engineers, workers, janitorial staff and more. The stations minimal operational capacity is approximately half that number due to the high amount of automation involved in the daily running of the station. At maximum capacity, the station can hold three thousand crew members with a further five hundred guests.
The Stations houses 300 hangars across its arms and central body for the purpose of housing or manufacturing 2 light craft, with fifty additional hangars capable of working on up to 2 light freighter class ships of similar size to the YT-1300. Finally The ship boasts 3 colossal bays which can house a heavy frigate within each of them.
Defense: Although the Satellite has no defenses to speak of, the interior is protected by a guard force of House Aquilas Avery security. Additionally, each of the extensions of the ship are fitted with the ability to be sealed off hermetically to avoid cascading destruction to the station as a whole. The facilities also boast intermittent blast doors down the corridors and vents allowing passage ways to be sealed off entirely should they need be.
While outside, the "Nests" armour plating allows the structure to be highly resistant to damage, working in conjuntion with a redundant hybrid shield system and Ionite Laminate, the ship covers for many of the standard direct attack methods used by many ships, allowing it to take punishment while its allies or other compliment ships are given the ability to retaliate in kind.
