The Aran'kha shield is the traditional shield of the Aran'kha, the soldiers of the Kemotat. Made primarily from Kathite, the gold-orange metal native to Ra'Katha, the shield is able to resist most types of weaponry thanks to its strong metal plating as well as the sloping design of the circular shield, allowing it to better reflect and absorb blows. The shield is carved in traditional Ra'Kathan and Wan'ante inscription, with different shields, have different carvings depending on the honor and status of its bearer. Large and protective, it is also heavy and can encumber its user, but the Aran'kha are able to use it to a great extent to protect themselves in combat. It is a shield that is a testament to the fighting spirit of Ra'Katha and the dedication those have to protect her golden sands.
