The ARC-170r (Aggressive Recon - 170 Replica) starfighter is Valdus Bral's take on classic Clone Wars era design. While much has changed in the galaxy since the days of the ARC-170's dominance, the ARC-170r makes use of more modern technology and combinations of technology never before used on the classic models. The ARC-170's durasteel hull has been replaced by the more expensive, but much more durable duranium plated hull. Where the original ARC-170 made use of an astromech socket to house a single astromech droid, the BM&E variant replaced the astromech socket with a droid brain and protective enclosure. The ARC-170r maintains the ability to be crewed by three individuals (pilot, front gunner, and rear gunner) or totally controlled by the droid brain. The aft light laser cannon has been replaced by a light quad laser cannon, greatly amplifying the overall firepower that the ARC-170r brings to areal conflicts.
Due to the ARC-170r being created by BM&E (Bral Metal & Engineering), a relatively small time manufacturer, there are very few ARC-170r in circulation. The majority of the ARC-170r starfighters will remain within the personal militia force of Valdus Bral. Regardless who is in possession of the ARC-170r starfighters, their numbers will be limited in scope. Tactics programmed into the droid brain dictate a four fighter squadron. This squadron count was determined based on the limited availability of the ARC-170r as well as taking into account likely battlefield scenarios. The ARC-170r squadron should be used as a heavy escort to larger spacecraft, as a ground assault craft, or a heavy starfighter detachment in orbital conflicts. The ARC-170r should not be put into a scenario where it is heavily out numbered without light fighter support.
