- Bristling with Guns: Just like the FAV the LRRV is bristling with half a dozen machine guns and even a small cannon
- Everything and the Kitchen Sink: Unlike the FAV the LRRV is able to haul anything its occupants might need for the mission in general
- Low Speed: The LRRV is not designed for hit and run tactics but instead for long distance hauls and as such sacrifices speed for many other factors
- Open: The LRRV is not an enclosed vehicle and therefore if a enemy were to get close enough they could easily toss an explosive device inside
Just as when the Light Patrol Vehicle was debuted, when the Heavy Patrol Vehicle was introduced there was a call within the GFL's elite unit to convert some of them into a different vehicle to better suit a certain need they had. In this case the need was for a vehicle that was able to traverse vast distances, conduct detailed reconnaissance and then relay this information to whomever they needed to.
Just as with the FAV before it, the first aspect in designing the LRRV was to figure out what modifications to the original Heavy Patrol Vehicle would help to convert the vehicle to its new purpose. The first thing they did was to basically cut the vehicle in half, taking off the upper half of the vehicle and in essence making it a open topped vehicle. This achieved two things, first was the decreased weight allowing for somewhat faster speed but the biggest the biggest difference was the longer range of the vehicle on a full tank compared to its original counterpart.
With the major modifications done the team moved forward with the implementation of features to help the vehicle. Many of the features from the original vehicle were kept but a few extra features to make it better suited to its new role. Another self-sealing fuel tank was added in as well as a backup tank to give the vehicle a longer operational range. A long range communication suite was added allowing the occupants to send and receive every type of data as well as encrypt and decrypt the data as well. An advanced sensor package was added to give the occupants the ability to pick up data without being in visual range. Lastly a dozen smoke grenade dischargers were added, six in the front and six in the back, to give the crew a chance to cover any escape they might need.
When it came to armament they kept the main armament the same as with the original but added in a large secondary armament as well as a tertiary. The secondary consisted of four AMG-01's mounted in various places on swiveling pintle mounts around the vehicle, giving it an almost full three-hundred and sixty degree of protection. Lastly he tertiary armament consisted of an VML-01 or an AMR-01 for anti-armor or long range sniping respectively.
