Historical Information
Having spent a good chunk of his childhood visiting his ill best friend in various hospitals and medical bays, Makai knew first hand the experience of being stuck inside the sterile, antiseptic smelling buildings instead of out being a carefree child. While his friend made a recovery, the experience stuck with him as Makai grew into a teenager and young adult.
At Reena University, Makai joined the fraternity Beta Rho Omega in his freshman year. He quickly found the fraternity was involved in charitable works, especially with the local children’s hospitals located in the capital. Makai took to the charitable works quickly, finding it a way to give back in a way that was familiar to him. Capitalizing on the fact most of the fraternity brothers were from wealthy backgrounds, the Reena University chapter of the fraternity often brought credits in through creative ways such as beach bonfire nights, male burlesque shows featuring the brothers, tailgate events, and speeder washes. Beyond raising money, many of the fraternity brothers would volunteer at the hospitals themselves, playing games with the children to take their mind off their current ordeal.
More recently as they prepared for Life Day, Makai and his wife Myra discussed creating traditions for their own family. As Myra brought up her own parents’ charitable works at Arkuhn, Makai came to the conclusion that the pair should gift handheld hologaming systems to all the children at select local hospitals. Done anonymously, the pair worked with organizations to give the gifts without spoiling the magic of Life Day for the children. By the next morning of forming their idea, Makai started laying the groundwork for the two to start their own charitable foundation.
ArcDash was born in the kitchen of his palatial Joiol estate, with a focus on bringing medical assistance of all sorts to juveniles across the galaxy. ArcDash works to provide needed medical equipment and supplies to underfunded or rural hospitals, but they also have a secondary purpose of bringing joy. Starting their own dude ranches and summer camps, providing toys and entertainment, housing and meals to parents and guardians are all in the scope of the organization.
