OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

 • Intent: To create a reactive plating system for Aurora Industries and Primo Victorian starships, as well as, to market to their respective clients.

 • Canon Link: N/A

 • Primary Source: Polarized Hull (x)

PRODUCTION INFORMATION

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

 • Classification: Starship Armor, Starship Hull Plating

 • Weight: Heavy

 • Resistances:
- Blasters (And other plasma type weapons): Very High
- Kinetic: High
- Lightsabers: Very High
- Sonic: Low
- Ion/EMP: Very High

SPECIAL FEATURES

 • Absorbs incoming energy from turbolasers/ion, emp weaponry.

 • Plasmatic/ion energy can be converted or redirected to 'heal' shields temporarily this is known as 'shield transfer strength.'

 • May be able to disrupt tractor beams by rotating the hull’s electromagnetic frequency.

 • Able to withstand incoming kinetic damage/energy from hvcs, projectiles and mass drivers.

 • Heuristic data processing to help tactical crews understand enemy weapon dispersion patterns.

Strengths:

 • Polarization: Enables the absorption of energy weapons, allowing for increased survivability in battle.

 • Energy Conversion: Converts energy from enemy weapons back to shield strength.

 • Disruption: May be able to disrupt tractor beams by rotating hull’s electromagnetic frequency.

Weaknesses:

 • Impervious: Like all things even with high ratings it has its limitations, it can and will give into overwhelming firepower. This is meant to help in typical firefights with enemy vessels or even endure a rather long fight in a large scale engagement. It can and will overload if too much energy is taken on, overwhelming firepower with little time to treat and convert energy may lead the plating system to crack.

 • Hull: This is not a replacement for standard hull construction, rather is meant to placed over hulls as a way to help keep them protected and serve as a frontline defensive system. It is also not recommended for full hull conversion, instead - place this system over more critical and key components of a ship.

DESCRIPTION
The Archer-class Reactive Plating System was designed to be attached to the outer hull and serve as the first line of defense against energy weapons. There is also a chance that it may be able to disrupt tractor beams by rotating the hull’s electromagnetic frequency. However, this ability is not automatic and must be done manually by a skilled operator. The reactive plating system also has a chance to strengthen hull integrity upon activation. A ten second duration at best, suggestions for use of the Archer-class is to use it as a last minute resort if the commander is hoping to make use of the ten second boost. Otherwise, the Archer-class reactive plating system may be activated at the start of any engagement.

The drawbacks of this particular plating system are the vulnerability to both kinetic damage and ion/emp based weapon system. The system’s plating while not so fragile as to break at a single hit, can and will break apart after subsequent hits which can easily occur within an engagement opening sequence.

Update: The Archer-type, Advanced Hull Plating System has been reworked and infused with newer and more up-to-date technologies eliminating earlier weaknesses and creating new ones. The plating system while now being able to withstand and absorb numerous types of attacks, along with tracking enemy weapons dispersions is not meant to replace hulls in the standard. Rather, to sit as a frontline defensive system over standard hulls and the system and will break in prolonged engagements where very heavy firefights are taking place, where it has taken too much energy at once with little room to process it.
