Propulsion and Maneuvering Systems
Can divert power from maneuvering thrusters to primary ion drives, or can divert power from ion drives to maneuvering thrusters. This enables the ship to adjust one or two ratings from maneuverability to speed, or vise versa. Similarly, the ship can divert power from shields to weapons, or divert power from weapons to power shields. This allows the ship to adjust it's defensive or armament rating by a single rating, at the expense of the other value. In addition to this, the ship is able to divert a small portion of power from maneuvering thrusters or primary ion drives and send that power to weapons or shields.
Tactical Power Conversion Matrix

Secondary Power Conversion Matrix

For example, if the captain chose to reroute power in the following manner---
Tactical Power Conversions
+1 Armament, -1 Defense
+1 Armament, -1 Speed
+1 Armament, -1 Maneuverability
Secondary Power Conversions

The frigate would display a minor reduction in shield strength and a marked reduction in maneuverability for a significant increase in offensive firepower. In the case of such a conversion of power, the ship would display the following tactical profile.
Defense: Low
Armament: Very High
Speed: High
Maneuverability: Average
DESCRIPTION
Starting with the ancient but successful Ardent design, the Admiralty instructed their various manufacturing companies to develop a new model of the ancient ship that incorporated modern shipbuilding techniques and technological developments. From this, the Ardent II-class Fast Frigate was born. Like the new Raider III-class Frigate being designed at the same time, the core of the Ardent II was reinforced with an advanced alutsteel frame and hull that incorporating gravity field generators to stabilize and enhance the maneuverability of the ship. Layered on top of this hull was a double layer of armor designed for maximum protection from energy attacks. The outer layer of Matrix armor was designed to withstand heavy caliber energy weapons while the inner layer was designed to diffuse whatever energy managed to penetrate the outer armor plating throughout a large area of inner plating.
The shape of the hull's highly angular design was carefully chosen to achieve maximum effective armor thickness against kinetic weaponry. Similarly, the design incorporated sharp edges and a pointed, structurally reinforced prow. Unlike most Imperial ship designs, the Ardent II Frigate would not sport the iconic exposed bridge of most designs. Instead, the bridge was located within a re-enforced sphere of armor placed centrally within the hull of the frigate.
-Off-center primary thrusters
-Primary Thrusters at upper-dorsal edges of aft section
-Frigate's frame, center of gravity, and local gravity projectors compensate for this
Needing to withstand the massive guns of the Maladi, the ship would also sport a powerful shield system similar to its armor. A primary Molecular Shield would protect the Ardent II from incoming attacks, channeling a portion of energy from each received shot into a series of reserve capacitors. Once the Molecular Shield failed, a secondary Thermal Shield would activate while the Molecular Shield recharged. The Thermal Shield was capable of deflecting energy weapons with just as much efficiency as the Molecular Shield, but did not channel energy into the reserve capacitors. The Thermal Shield could, however, withstand incredible bursts of damage. The Thermal Shield was capable of withstanding a full volley of missiles or torpedoes and only deplete half of its charge. The downside to this was that, once the Thermal Shield fell, it could not be reactivated until the system was fully recharged.
Where other ships would incorporate a mix of turbolasers and torpedoes, the Ardent II class Fast Frigate instead incorporates the new Imperator class Turbolasers into its design. A battery of four dual turrets would be installed on the port and starboard side of the dorsal superstructure. A third battery would be spread out over the prow of the ship with a single turret being placed on the dorsal and ventral port and starboard sides of the frigate. These weapons provide the Ardent II with a flexible armament capable of accurately engaging targets at long ranges or of battering close range and medium range targets with withering firepower. Also included in the design are five batteries of point defense lasers spread evenly over the hull protect the Artent II from hostile starfighters and missiles,
With modern naval combat in mind, a complex system of shielding protects the Ardent Frigate from Ion Weaponry, EMP's, Conner Nets, and Gravity Well Projection. A HIMS system allows the Ardent Frigate to ignore artificial gravity well projections while traveling through Hyperspace. Ion Shielding and Combat De-Ionizers serve as a buffer against Ion Weaponry and shunt the energy charge of these weapons directly into the reserve capacitors. Electromagnetic Pulses were, in part, absorbed and diffused by the ship's inner layer of armor. What electromagnetic or ionic energy managed to bypass the outer armor was channeled through the ship's Cap Drain. Similarly, when the reserve capacitors are operating at their maximum levels and can no longer be used to absorb additional ionic energy, the damage control system will attempt to re-route any excess energy through the ship's Cap Drain.
