"Aaaand, we're off."

The shuttle jumped to Hyperspace and Zane switched controls to auto-pilot, allowing them a chance to relax. Bogano was their destination — a planet far out in the Tingel Arm that housed a Jedi Enclave. He didn't care much about that fact, but it meant they were going to be stuck inside this shuttle for hours before they arrived.

Why did he have to do this again?

When he joined Revenant Squadron, he had expected missions full of danger and glory. Battles against the Sith or Dark Empire where he'd find himself in thrilling dogfights. Not... this. Flying around a Jedi who should have already been able to fly herself. He didn't voice that belief, of course, but when he turned in his seat to face her, he did briefly wonder why she needed a pilot.

"Is there anything I can get you? It'll be a long flight, but I have food and water on board." Alcoholic drinks as well, but he wasn't about to offer that to a Jedi on duty. Turning back around in his chair, Zane idly spun about, thinking of something to talk about. Something that'd make this journey feel a little shorter.

"...I haven't even asked yet, but why Bogano?"

She was caught up in he brilliance of entering hyperspace. There was something about intergalactic travel that tingled the senses. Sure, it was a brilliant light show but it went beyond that. There was something inherently connected to the Force. She enjoyed the sense of awe, but not the slight feeling of nausea that followed.

She lifted her hand and stumbled back towards the refresher. A couple of loud drive heaves later, Cerys looked up towards the bulkhead of the shuttle and moved some loose strands of hair away from her face.

”I…am sorry….but I will not be eating or drinking for a while…”

Hands pushed off on the wall and knees and Cerys dusted herself off. There was nothing to dust off. It was just an attempt to reclaim the poise she treasured so highly. Her chest rose with a deep breath, and she was back to normal-ish.

The heel turn that followed send her long golden blonde hair in to a graceful swish. And se marched back to her seat with her slender feminine form as rigid as always.

”The New Jedi Order is trying to find somewhere suitable for me to finish my training.”

They had called her problematic. Problematic. Bah.

”I apologise for you having been lumped with assignment. It was not my stated desire. I like to make my own way, but they insisted.”

Zane raised an eyebrow at her antics and unwillingness to eat or drink, but said nothing of it. He knew better than to call out a woman on getting space-sick, especially a Jedi. He had met a few at this point, weirdly enough, and they all seemed very capable at flying, fighting and just about anything.

The risk of it embarrassing her was too great.

"Somewhere suitable and they send you all the way out there? Tough bunch," Zane commented, his eyes following her closely as she moved back to her seat. The best part about being sent on all these assignments with Jedi was how well they took care of themselves.

They were graceful, athletic and, well...

Zane cleared his throats before his thoughts could run away from him.

"It's quite alright. I need to get experience and escorting Jedi isn't the worst way to get it." He flashed her a playful wink and raised a hand up through his blond locks.

"I'm curious though. Aren't all Jedi taught how to fly a ship?" He knew he was taking a risk, asking this question, but he was genuinely curious and a little bit of teasing wouldn't ever hurt.

Her shoulders stiffened on the mention of her assignment being so far off any beaten track. It was not that they were a tough bunch, and probably more that the Jedi Order did not know what to do with her. She had not been herself since Master Vaas had become one with the Force. It bothered her. She was not supposed to feel this loneliness. Vaas had taught her better.

”You can rest assured. They are not tough enough for me,” she said, erring on the side of putting the New Jedi down. It had been her norm, why change?

“Well. I thank you anyway. Your assistance is most appreciated.”
That wink though. It was most unnecessary. She looked away when he ran his hair through his hair. His demeanour was one that she would have to be careful to not dwell on.

Sitting in one of he passenger seats further back in the small craft, Cerys glanced his way, while rolling her shoulders with a certain air of annoyance. “According to Master Vaas, my talent for flying was…” She put on an accent akin to her Togrutan Master, “…about as prevalent as Krayt Dragons on Kamino.“

She looked away again, rotating her left shoulder as if it was hurt. It wasn’t. “The last ship I piloted was working perfectly well…until about five minutes after the hyperspace jump…the fires were contained to inside the ship…until we hit atmosphere…and…well. I walked the rest of the way from where we…landed.”

Zane noted that she seemed a little awkward when she turned away after his wink. A bit stubborn too, or perhaps it was something else? It made him wonder if that's why she was sent all the way out here. Being a Jedi was more than learning how to swing around a lightsaber, so maybe it was about something more personal.

Or perhaps her piloting skills.

"Ah, I see." He did his best not to smirk or sound overly amused. She was already downplaying having crashed a ship, and he didn't want to piss her off with a joke.

"Well, it's a skill anybody can learn if you put in the time." He spun in his chair to face her, even though she made it obvious that she was trying not to look his way.

He didn't feel like talking to a wall on a trip this long.

"If not flying, what's your thing? You Jedi are all good at something, right?"

A short laugh burst forth at the suggestion that she could learn to fly. He wasn’t the first to think that. He wouldn’t be alone in her list of teachers should he try. The frivolity evaporated quickly.

When was the last time she had laughed? The day before Master Vaas died?

“I am proficient in most of the major Jedi practices…my Master had yet to settle me on my primary path. We had talked about diplomacy…”

She shot him a glance, daring him to not say anything in regards to this.

“…apparently Master Vaas saw in me…the ability to talk, and reason…but…I fear that I do not see as well as her.”

Her shoulders drooped a little, but she quickly over corrected. It was not right to show that the loss hurt her.
