Like all Jedi, no matter the Order or where they came from, they undergo a journey to construct their very own lightsaber for the first time. Ares was no different when he set about his journey in constructing his lightsaber. He searched throughout the galaxy in search for these components when he was originally given the option to accept the components offered by the New Jedi Order. However, Ares politely declined and set about his own journey.
Ares proceeded to earn the components piece by piece as he helped the people far and wide wherever he went. Until finally he came to the last yet vital component that he needed to make his lightsaber. The Padawan ventured off to Cerea in search of a crystal, but instead found the one he was looking for. He stumbled across a Focus crystal, or more accurately he felt it calling to him.
Ares designed the hilt to be curved much to certain opinions that advised against it. Not because it was favored for dueling, but because it was a physical reminder of Ares’s origin. Where he had hailed from, and how he used that experience to define who he was as a Jedi. For he had designed it with the components at hand in favor of the two lightsaber forms that Ares was specialized in. The one of Makashi, and the one of Soresu.
- Focus Crystal ~ A lightsaber crystal that aids in Force Attunement and Meditation.
- Deflection Emitter ~ Well-suited in deflecting incoming blaster bolts.
- Beam Gem Lens ~ Produces a focused blade for improved precision.
- Curved Hilt ~ The design allows ease of maneuverability when wielding this lightsaber.
- Force Attunement ~ Improved use of the Force.
- Deflective Beam ~ Due to the combination of the emitter and lens, this lightsaber is well suited to precisely deflect blaster bolts, making it ideal for uses of Makashi and Soresu forms.
- Force Nullification ~ In areas where the Force is being suppressed or nullified, this lightsaber is also affected due to the crystal itself. Either the blade is dampened when being suppressed, or it simply won’t ignite at all when nullified.
- Cortosis ~ Direct impact with Cortosis weaponry or woven into armor can cause the lightsaber to be disabled.
