- Wealth: High - Areta Ka has long been the sign of great wealth among the floating cities of Sanjin, it is the largest mining complex on the planet, consisting of refineries foundries linked together. The combined foundries were able to collect a massive amount of wealth and poured it into developing their city, with the cities creating various businesses apart from mining, from casinos to resorts.
- Stability: High - With the rise of a new power on Sanjin, the corrupt were soon rooted out by the military and the people, being exiled from the city and the planet altogether. These days people live in a stable city where crime is low and xenophobia is non-existent. Most of the previous government loyalists had either fled the city or retreated into the underlevels far from the publics eye where military and police have worked to remove them from their positions.
- Freedom & Oppression: Mixed - Despite the new Nationalistic rhetoric provided by the Optimatium party the city for the most part remains free. People are free to come and go as they please and enjoy the vibrant and bright nightlife of the floating city. On the flip side, propaganda is rampant throughout the city with each sector having a major military recruitment office for both the Galactic Alliance and Sanjin Defence Force. Those who attempt to evade their National Service or desert from the military are punished with impunity in the city.
- Description: The capital city on Sanjin, Areta Ka has come along way from a few mining colonies banding together. These days its the symbol of wealth and prosperity on Sanjin, being the envy of all other mining colonies on the planets. The city itself consists of multiple mining colonies which have joined together, with more and more buildings and structures being built on them and to connect them. The wealth the city has attained has become so great it has gone further then mining, with a vibrant nightlife and high quality of life.
| Capitol Buildings - The centre of the government the Capitol Buildings makes up the smallest sector on Sanjin. Massive and beautifully designed buildings cover this area, from the Governor's palace to the Ministry of Defence building anyone seeking to do direct business with the Government of Sanjin should make their way here. |

| Resort Sector - The hotspot for nightlife this sector is filled to the brim with resorts, casinos and night clubs for the enjoyment of both the residents and tourists on Areta Ka. | Renek Sector - Translating to King Sector this sector is the second smallest sector and is situated on the same mining colony as the Resort sector. It consists entirely of penthouses and massive apartments for the rich of Areta Ka and is a symbol of propserity in the city. Living there is the dream of many who live on the city. |
| Defence Sector - The centre of all things related to Sanjin's defence this sector has been recently refurbished to accommodate military ships and mass numbers of personnel. The military base holds a massive garrison with an impressive armoury dedicated to Areta Ka's defence. On top of this the military academy is located in the base as well along with offices for conscription and a separate building which acts as the main police department. Thos wishing to join Sanjin's military or view its defence capabilities should visit. |
| Industrial Sector - Located on the third largest mining colony, it is the location of the smaller factories and power stations which run the city. Arguably the poorest part of Areta Ka, many people commute here everyday to work in the refineries and power plants with residential areas in the cleaner areas of the sector for those who can't afford accommodation in more expensive sectors. Despite it being considered poor quality of life is still quite high. |
| The Underlevels - A far more obscure part of the city in the underlevels the massive refineries and gas mining operations take place. Massive amounts of tibinna gas are processed and packaged and sent to the many space ports to be sold off to Sanjin's trading partners. Amongst the refineries are various neighbourhoods and those who live here are the poorest, often being described as Nar Shadaa with a police force. |
SECURITY
High - Due to Sanjin's highly militaristic policies and Areta Ka's great wealth security is not a problem at all on the city. From a dedicated police force to a large military base the citizens of Areta Ka don't ever worry about the city coming under attack. Large retracting gun emplacements dot all over the city in order to defend it and the Sanjini Marine garrison is equipped with masses of walkers and airspeeders, chosen due to their ability to traverse the city with ease.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The first settlers on Sanjin were a combination of various species but most notably humans, duros and nemodians who arrived to mine Sanjin's gas and sell it off to the galaxy. From independent miners to representatives of large companies Sanjin became littered with mining colonies, each competing with each other over the gas which their livelihood depended on. Sanjin itself at the time had no independent government either but everything changed during the Republic Dark Age. Sanjin became cut off from many core worlds and all mining colonies lost their connections from their owners. With no incoming supplies or opportunities to escape colonies were lost to power loss, gas storms and infighting, killing many in the process. It was at this time a Duros named Lim Virlal, Administrator of mining guild colony the Endless Bounty knew that something had to be done to survive. He summoned the leaders of the remaining mining colonies and gave them the reality of their situation, no one was coming for them. Lim stated it was time to forsake their allegiances and join together to survive and while some left the meeting many stayed and heeded his call. The mining colonies began to move as a pack, assisting each other with some colonies being merged together to support each other. This had given Lim his next great plan and he soon began an initiative to connect all the mining colonies who had joined him. It was here that the mining colonies become one, from the people to the colonies they were united. Thus the city of Areta Ka was born, named in honour of Lim's heritage as he passed away before the completion of the linking of the cities. The name itself translates to Industrious Sky from Durese.
Once the Dark Age was over and the companies of the galaxy returned to reclaim their colonies they instead found a vibrant and independent culture and government. The people had long forgotten their original allegiances and were a new people, forcing away the corporations who seeked to subjugate them. Soon after the people of Sanjin were recognised by the Republic an era of stability took over the city, allowing the people of Areta Ka to unite the planet under their banner. While more colonies were built Areta Ka stood fast, enduring the many great wars of the galaxy, almost always aligning themselves with the galactic core. From the Galactic Republic to the Empire the people of Areta Ka experience it all. Mining continued on Areta Ka and after the galactic civil war policies changed with the Empire's fall. They had amassed a great wealth and they began to use, allowing quality of life to rocket upwards with the great city becoming more than just a large mining complex. Tourism and factories began to prop up and a new wave of industry spread across the city furthering its riches. The people lived a wealthy but quiet life on Areta Ka, escaping the eye of many major factions who instead fought over other gas giants such as Bespin and Taloran. The people endured through the Yuuzhan Vong and the Gulag Plague by relying on each other, fostering a deep level of pride in all they had built. But with its expanding wealth along came those who seeked to exploit it. In the year 811 ABY corruption began to take root and for 49 years the corrupt exploited the gas mining operations and stealing the wealth of the great city, causing its first decline in centuries. The corruption though was rooted out and now the Optimatium party rules Sanjin from Areta Ka. The City became their symbol of what they could achieve and it was the first area their nationalistic rhetoric was introduced. Massive military structures soon became part of the everyday sites of the people of Areta Ka and its stability was once again restored.
