- Can accurately hit orbiting capital ships
- Extreme range: The gun can accurately hit targets in orbit over its location, effectively countering orbital bombardment.
- Extreme firepower: The gun poses a threat to even the largest of capital ships, and can cut through both shields and armor of any warship foolish enough to attempt to bombard its position.
- A big gun: The massive cannon is totally imobile and impossible to hide, and can be easily spotted by the sensors of orbiting ships.
- Firing arc: The gun can only fire on targets in orbit almost directly over its location, and cannot hit ground targets.
Designed to counter the threat of orbital bombardment, the Arms Dynamics Anti-Orbital Lance Gun scales the weapon to create an effective counter to orbital bombardment. The resulting lance gun was huge and immobile, but perfectly suited for creating an anti-bombardment envelope when combined with sufficiently strong deflector shielding. The weapon can draw power directly from a ground based reactor to continually burn through first the shields and then armor of large capital ships attempting to bombard its location. The system was initially designed for The Citadel as a way to protect it from orbiting capital ships and to force any enemy force attempting to crack it to commit ground elements for a conventional siege.
