ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • High-tech: Scanners, long-range comms, cyberwarfare suites, slave rigging. These are examples of some of the tools which are at the Arrak's disposal and allows for a smaller crew than other vessel's of its size along with innovative methods using state-of-the-art technology.
  • Modular interior: Has a highly modular interior and can be used to transport large amounts of cargo or persons or even carry special equipment or advanced modules to house - for instance - high quality medical bays, secure conference chambres and production facilities.
  • Slippery: Powerful shields, strong armour plates and a number of tools to ward of attacks makes for a strong defence which, when combined with the high speed ensures that the Arrak-class Cruisers are hard to destroy. This combined with its relatively good resistance to EMP and ion attacks and its tools to ward off aggressors makes it a slippery foe.
WEAKNESSES
  • Low armaments: The Arrak is not as heavily armed as the standard cruiser of its size and while it has a greater hangar capacity than average, the additional slots are devoted to support craft. While the Arrak is fully capable of going toe-to-toe with ships of significance, it will have some difficulties in destroying them.
  • Hollow: With large spaces devoted to serve as hangar and others being possible to be opened up for storage or passengers, parts of the cruiser can be relatively hollow. This creates structural weakspots which can render the ship more vulnerable to high-impact kinetic attacks.
  • Sabotage: Being slave-rigged and armed with advanced technology at large, the Arrak-class Cruiser is vulnerable to sabotage from within since it has the potential of affecting the entire ship.
DESCRIPTION

Designed by a group of Ithorian engineers, the cruiser is named after an avian from their homeplanet, the Arrak. The new Arrak-class Cruiser was designed for the Concord's recon fleet of Chaussidier Chaussidier but the ships are also available for sale on the market. Still, their expensive nature has ensured that only a limited number of them have been produced. In large, the purpose of the vessel is to serve as a versatile cruiser, capable of taking on a wide range of opponents whilst having a heavy emphasis on utility functions. Still, it is far from defenceless and can also fulfil a more pure combat role.

A particular weakness which the ship's design have been criticised for is the vulnerability to sabotage from the inside. The slave rigged vessel is, in many aspects, automated and reliant on technology to function. With this, sabotage can prove to be a potent weapon against it as a single person can achieve more damage than they would be capable of on a more manpower intensive ship. This has caused some to argue that one of the Arrak's strengths, the low crew requirements, is negated as increased security might be needed.

In battle, the ship has a wide array of weapons at its disposal - however, it does not have quite as many weapon positions as other ships of its type. This reflects the Arrak-class Cruiser's purpose in it is not supposed to be purely combat oriented. Still, it has a number of weapons which can be used in a multitude of different situations, either offensively or defensively. The ship's defence is nothing to sneer at as it is equipped with powerful shields and strong armour plates. While it has weakspots where the interior is more hollow, it also has more defences than just shielding and armour. The ship is through its technological systems also equipped to prevent attacks from hitting it at all.

Its versatility can be seen in its high internal modularity allowing Arrak-class Cruisers to specialise in different fields which can often be non-combat related. The versatility can also be seen in how it, in addition to a sizeable fighter fleet, also comes with a relatively large number of support craft in its large hangars. This allows it to simultaneously fulfil utility functions whilst supporting the fleet with fighters. The ACP and gravity well projector are other examples of how the Arrak may support its fleet.

Very nicely made ship! But I found some problems.
  • The most important remark, this ship can't be limited, just Semi-unique, please check the spreadsheet and modify the Production scale.
  • The others are mostly aesthetic error. I suppose you want to delete these from your sub:
    • (This is the allocated amounts of starfighters and support craft (dropships, shuttles, gunships, etc) this submission can hold in its hangar based on the maximum hangar space capacity listed above)
    • (Provide all of your submission's advanced systems, including non-combat items and special weapons, here in a list. Please link to all Factory Submissions used. Stealth technology and other advanced systems may require other weaknesses or reduced ratings for balance. Ensure significant capabilities from systems are included in the Strengths and Weaknesses lists. Examples include: Stealth systems, Advanced ECM systems, Crystal gravfield traps, HIMS, Molecular shields. Links: Starship Weapons, Approved Technology, Shields, Engines)
That's all, please let me know if you edited these.

Hi MANIAC MANIAC

Thank you for the compliment and the review!

Can I keep the production scale limited if I reduce the ship's length by 1000 metres?

I have made the edits to remove the redundant fields and specified the classification to 'Cruiser' - previously, it was just a list of possible classifications.

MANIAC MANIAC

Nice! I've reduced the length by 1000 and width and height by roughly 20-21% to keep the dimensions from before. Used to be 4950, 1100, 850 and are now 3950, 869 and 678 respectively.

MANIAC MANIAC thanks for pointing that out, I completely missed it myself!

I've reduced the hangar space to 24 and gone from 25 to 19 fighter squadrons and 7 to 5 support craft squadrons.

Sorry, but I had to ask John to put your sub back here. I made a mistake. The 3.950 metres ship can be only Semi-unique and not limited for a company or Minor-factions. So please change the production-scale or the dimensions of the ship. It can be limited with 2.950 metres. And I apologize again for that.

No worries! It happens and rules to be enforced :D

As I weigh my options, I would like to know what semi-unique production means.

Judging by the wording, I would assume that unique means that there is one of the kind and semi-unique means that there are either two or few enough to be counted on one hand. However, when I look at the template, these are the descriptions: "Unique (Only One Character), Semi-Unique (A single small unit, squad, or squadron)"
According to these descriptions, semi-unique would also just be one ship as cruisers don't really come in squads or squadrons. So, would there be any reason to go for semi-unique instead of unique? And if I go for semi-unique/unique, would it also be possible for me to add stealth detection capacities or even stealth capacities?

Well, Semi-unique doesn't change according to ship size, So basically 1 Squadron's worth of ships, you don't need to give an exact numbers, but yes, with these dimensions this is not too large number, they are very rare. And yes, with Semi-unique you can add stealth detection capacities or even stealth capacities to your ship. You can find this under the Restricted Materials.

Update on this? I have to move the thread to the Archive soon according to the Factory policy. I can give you a few more days if you need them, until Friday (2021.06.18.), to make the necessary edits or indicate that you are asking for a few extra days for this.

Hello again, MANIAC MANIAC I hope that you are doing well and that you are the right person for me to tag. If not, I apologize and hope that you can tell me of the correct procedure. It has been a while since I have been here.

I decided to take the easy route this time and not go for a more advanced semi-unique ship. Instead, I reduced its dimensions. Here is a list of the changes I have made:
  • Reduced length to 2950 metres
  • Reduced width to 649 metres
  • Reduced height to 506.354430381 metres
  • Reduced the listed number for hangar capacity to 21 (same rating)
  • Reduced the number of starfighter to 17 squadrons
  • Reduced the number of support craft to 4 squadrons
I hope this works for a re-approval. If not, please let me know.
