Art of the Blade

All was quiet, the only sound to be heard was the quiet beat of the engines as they traveled across the stars. It was nearly pitch dark inside of the ship, no lights, not even the faint glow of the holonet was visible. Such a time was perfect for relaxing and reflecting upon life, and perhaps the near future and one lone soul took advantage of this.

Xiarr stumbled across the ship, he was clearly tired, but he just simply couldn't fall asleep. He sat down in the small couch area near the records, tapping his fingers against the metal table. He couldn't sleep, he knew that, so what was there to do? He sat there for a minute, pondering until he finally made up his mind.

Xiarr walked into the rather empty cargo hold, his footsteps loud enough to potentially awake someone. He spun around quickly to make sure nobody was behind him, then closing the door when he was sure of it. He sat down in the middle of the cargo hold, looking at the few crates that were left, mostly rations and a few Kyber crystals he had collected. He placed out both of his ars and opened his palms, closing his eyes. It took a minute until he could hear faint mumbling and a feeling of.. happiness? It washed over him like a tide on a small beach, and then he felt something different as the murmurings grew louder. Was it more happiness? No, something greater, far greater. It would take him a few to digest this feeling fully, but whatever it was, it was certainly strong.

While Xiarr was wandering around the ship like a weird creepy sleepwalker, seriously it's just weird, while Kaiya was fast asleep with the covers of a bed pulled up over her. Xiarr had been kind enough to give her her own room to sleep in instead of having to sleep on a couch. It was weird for her to finally have a room to herself, it just always made her feel like she was being watched. Mostly due to the reason that back on Nar Shadaa, she had shared a room with her friend cause rent was expensive, even for a shabby and run-down room, and they could only afford to steal enough money to barely get by. Though it was still nice to have her own room to herself, despite how alien and strange it felt to have one in the first place. She was still thankful for Xiarr giving her a whole room to herself, though she wasn't sure what to do with most of the room in their. She had been so used to using a smallish room her whole life that it felt unnatural to have anything bigger than a small room. Though, she still loved it either way.

Xiarr's state of thought was interrupted by a loud bang. He grumbled before opening his eyes and standing up, walking over to the source of the noise. He picked up the object and gave out a sigh, it was a mear wrench, but it was loud enough to disturb anyone currently sleepings, and that wasn't good news for Xiarr. He placed the wrench back up upon the crates and listened for the sound of footsteps. He gave out another groan before sitting back down on the floor, pretending to meditate, it was the best he could do in this situation. He placed his lightsaber down in front of him and closed his eyes, and his senses would start to fade away. Ah meditating, how relaxing it was, so relaxing, as a matter of fact, he forgot what he was doing here, and why he was so worried, it seemed like he was in a really good position!

Kaiya woke with a start at the sound. Her eyes opened in an instant as her hand closed around her pistol, the King's Bane, which sat at her bedside. She looked around the room frantically for a few seconds, pointing her gun around before giving off a sigh of relief. It wasn't an intruder, just some random noise that the ship had made. She was on edge, well she always had been. She had to be one edge and be ready for a fight on Nar Shadaa, when someone could break into your house...or just room when you were sleeping. Kaiya placed her pistol back down onto the metal nightstand near her bed before getting up. She walked out of her room cautiously, her eyes scanning throughout the dimly lit room. The noise had come from the cargo hold, so that's where she would go. Kaiya crept through the room, slowly approaching the door before finally coming to a stop in front of it. She took a deep breath, telling herself that it was nothing before opening the door. And that's when she saw Xiarr just sitting on the ground. Kaiya walked over to him before tapping him on the shoulder.

Xiarr was pulled out of his state of mind by Kaiya tapping him on the shoulder. He opened his eyes and stood up, turning around to look at Kaiya. "Oh, right..." Well, he may as well take advantage of this odd situation. He walked over to one of the crates and opened it, taking out two practice sabers, tossing one at Kaiya. He ignited his own green blade, pointing it at Kaiya. "Since you're up now, we may as well begin your training." Xiarr paced around his small little area, twirling his blade. What should he use? Makashi, Soresu? So many choices, yet so little time. Well, he should start with the basics, so he would likely start off with Shii-Cho, arguably the most simple of the lightsaber forms.

Kaiya caught the practice blade in hand apprehensively, confused as to what was going on. What had she even walked into? Xiarr had just been sitting on the ground and now he was trying to train her with...a practice saber? Even though she wasn't even a jedi, let alone force sensitive. She clicked on the blade hesitantly, igniting the once dull and lifeless blade with a blue light. The blue light gave a soft blue glow to the area surrounding Kaiya, most noticeably upon her face however.
"Wait, what? What are you even talking about and doing, Xiarr? What training?!" Kaiya said exasperatedly towards Xiarr, clearly confused at the situation. She had no idea what type of training he was even talking about. She had never heard or talked about training with a lightsbaer with Xiarr before. Well, at least that she knew of.

"Yes training, didn't I mention it? Either that or I'm too tired to remember... Anyways yes, lightsaber training. May as well know how to use in a galaxy as big as this. Now let's start with what you would do without any training, see what you know." Xiarr was sure he had mentioned this before, but I digress, it really didn't matter at this point, what did matter however was getting this done. He ignited his blade, holding it with one hand and holding it off to his left. He paced around, waiting for Kaiya to make her move. He doubted she would perform very well, but still, he wanted to see if this would be easier or harder then he thought. He waited for Kaiya to charge, raising his blade in front of him, still with his one hand.

No, he hadn't mentioned any training of any sort. Ugh, why was Xiarr so annoying at times. Though Kaiya didn't fully blame him, both he and her had been tired for awhile while out exploring...that and she had been more focused on taking it slow due to her leg but she did still blame Xiarr, if only a little. Well, Kaiya was going to have to try something at least. She twirled in the blade in her right hand, surprised by how light the blade was. Well, it was a training blade. She held the blade normally once more, both hands on the smooth yet worn handle of the training saber. Then she charged, she swung her blade in a sideways arc, from right to left in a sweeping motion like she were using a farming scythe. Only, meant to kill...well injure but Kaiya found the two interchangeable at times. True she didn't like killing, though she knew when it was necessary.

Xiarr watched Kaiya charge at him, admittedly he thought she was going to do a lot worse than this, either way, he took a leap back from the swing before placing both of his hands on his blade and raising it over his head, leaping into the air and and the slamming his blade back down into Kaiya's. If this worked she would most likely be disarmed and it would be gamer over already, if not then he would just leave himself open to attack. If it succussed he would follow up a couple of jabs towards Kaiya, which would only give a little sting per hit. If it didn't work, he would try to go into a Soersu stance, holding his blade around his body, waiting for Kaiya to make a move. If she charged towards him, he would hold out one of his hands towards a crate and throw it towards Kaiya, hoping it would hit.

Well, that was a quick fight. Heck, it wasn't even a fight at all. Just as Kaiya had raised her blade, Xiarr had somehow disarmed her just like that. It was all over in an instant, much to Kaiya's dismay. Though, one defeat wasn't going to stop her. Kaiya hadn't stopped when she had been stabbed in Nar Shaddaa, almost dead. No, she had chose to fight for her life and she was made stronger from it. Well, this wasn't a fight for survival. Though the principle still stood on it's own legs, vigilance and unending determination in the face of failure. Kaiya reached down, picking up her fallen blade, twirling it in hand before gripping the handle with both hands.
"I won't be beaten so easily, Xiarr. Don't think this is gonna be easy."

Xiarr watched the blade roll to the side, well that was pretty boring wasn't it? He watched Kaiya walk over to the blade, folding his arms. She was a fighter, he'd give her that, although it really wouldn't help her that much in the end. Xiarr gave a half-hearted laugh as he ignited his blade once again, pointing it at Kaiya.

"No, it won't be, assuming you know how to adapt that is." Xiarr switched off his blade and placed it on his side, holding out both of his arms in the air, throwing a few crates at Kaiya, standing perfectly still. If Kaiya managed to dodge or hack through all of the crates, Xiarr would still be standing there still without out his lightsaber, which to Kaiya would look like an easy target.

Kaiya raised her blade in front of her as the crates went flying in her direction. She closed her eyes, breathing in and out slowly before opening them. She had heard it was a good calming or medication technique, though she had never been one to try out these sort of things. But now was a good of a time as any, right? She sliced through the first two boxes with ease, whereas the third one slammed into her chest, knocking the air out of her lungs suddenly and swiftly. She gasped at the sudden impact, trying to draw in breath to recover quickly. It took a few moments, but she did eventually recover.

Her eyes fell upon the form of Xiarr as he stood their, appearing to be defenseless. Though, she wasn't going to fall for that again. Kaiya raised her blade in front of her face, holding it up in a defensive position.
"Come on, attack me!"

Xiarr watched Kaiya cut through the crates with ease with a smirk, however, that quickly faded as he saw the last crate slam into her chest and knock her back down. He gave a sigh, whenever his hopes got high something managed to bring em' low. He stood at ease, pacing around in a small line, waiting for Kaiya to get back up.

Once Kaiya stood back up and shouted at Xiarr, he gave another laugh turning is full attention to Kaiya. "Really? That would be dull wouldn't it, I've already knocked the blade out of your hands once, why do it again? Let's see the street urchin have a go, eh?" Woo, that really didn't go were Xiarr expected it to, but nonetheless, knowing Kaiya this was bound to provoke her at the very least, although he really didn't want to deal with the fallout once all of this was over.

Kaiya wasn't normally one to get mad when somebody insulted her, usually throwing an insult their way as well. Though, this...this was different. Xiarr of all people had insulted her, she had trusted him...told him something that she hadn't told anyone else. Then he just up and betrayed her trust, just like that. He knew how she was around insults and how she never trusted people, yet he went and did it anyways without a second thought. She charged in anger towards Xiarr, the hilt of her blade clasped in one hand. She swung her blade in a sideways arc towards Xiarr's midsection before aiming a punch towards his face in anger. It would be hard for him to dodge both attacks, and that's exactly what Kaiya hoped would happen. She hoped that one of her hits would land on him after he had insulted her, she wasn't the forgiving type.

Xiarr couldn't say he hadn't expected this, insulting someone you know usually doesn't end very well for either side, however, in this case, this could prove a valuable lesson. He simply stood still, allowing both blows to hit. He fell to the floor due to the pressure of the punch, still looking rather calm. If Kaiya continued to attack him, he would allow every single blow to hit him, even the ones he could counter with raising his pinky finger. Once Kaiya stopped, he cackled as the practice blade flew out of Kaiya's hands, and Xiarr's own personal blade would begin to glide towards her now empty hands. "You have a spark inside of you, one that if you simply didn't control could burn down the entire forest! Go on then, ignite my blade, take it as your own, and strike me down in all of your hatred and anger! Just think of the possibilities, all of this to your own, imagine how rich you could become if you took advantage of it!" He motioned his hand around, gesturing towards the ship. It would be so easy for Kaiya to just claim this all for own, and set out on her expedition.

Kaiya was surprised at first when Xiarr just gave up, though it didn't matter. She was pissed, well more than pissed...that much was certain. She had been stupid to trust Xiarr at all, sure he had taken her off of Nar Shadaa but that was all. Yes, he had saved her...though now she regretted even coming with him in the first place. It wasn't the half-hearted insults he threw at her which were the problem, it was him insulting her which was the problem. To think, she even had a thing for Xiarr...tsk, well seems Xiarr screwed up now. Punch after punch slammed into Xiarr's face as she beat him mercilessly. Then he said something about her killing him. Her eyes flickered to his blade which slowly drifted through the air towards her. She stood up slowly, before throwing the blade somewhere in the room, out of sight. Then, she was out of the room, the door closing behind her.

Xiarr just layed there for a while, not really moving as he watched Kaiya storm out of the room. At first, he was angered beyond belief, she just simply ignored him?! Due to this, Kaiya would feel some pressure around her throat for the briefest second of a moment, but Xiarr managed to calm himself down and let go. He knew this was a bad idea, why was he even up to this late? He felt like a holodroid tasked with taking someone's identity permanently. It was probably just because of how tired he was when he started this whole ordeal, he really never was a night owl.

Xiarr stood himself up and shambled over towards the door a few minutes after Kaiya left, determined to confront her. Although his blood-soaked eyes didn't help at all, and needless to say he collapsed a few feet from the door. He groaned and buried his head into the durasteel plating of the ship, and fell asleep faster than a drunk pirate lord.

Kaiya felt her throat begin to close up all of the sudden. It felt as though an invisible hand were trying to choke the life out of her. Then, just like it had come...it had left, out of nowhere, with no explanation. Had Xiarr done that? No, he couldn't have...he wouldn't, right? Kaiya hated herself for just leaving the room like that with Xiarr on the ground. As soon as she had left, she had regretted it...though not entirely. Anger still resided within her heart and mind, primarily directed towards Xiarr for him insulting her. She couldn't believe him...though he wouldn't hurt her, right? Kaiya then continued on her way, towards her room. The sound of a body hitting metal hit her ears, though she chose to ignore it as she went into her room, the door closing automatically behind her. She then sat on the edge of her bed, her back turned towards the door. Her hands rested anxiously and nervously on her knees as she tried to think about what she would do next.

Cold. Cold as a winter's breath, that was the first thing Xiarr felt as consciousness returned to him. Was he alive, was he dead? He couldn't tell really, he barely remembered who he was, and why he was here. He stood up and groaned, looking down at his now shaking gloved hands. It all came back to him now, and he felt awful, and his now dirty clothes didn't help one bit.

As he walked out of his chamber, he made his way to his small little holo-library. It wasn't much, just a few bookshelves worth of volumes, it was the best he could find after wandering the Rim. He sat down at the little booth up against the library and pondered. He really wasn't in the mode to confront Kaiya, but he knew he had to. He'd wait until she was awake, but for now, he grabbed the datapad lying face down on the booth's table and continued his reading.

Kaiya's lime green eyes opened slowly, her mind felt all groggy. Then she came back to her senses about what had ensued the previous night with [member="Xiarr Sair"]. She was still angry at him, though she hadn't an idea about what to do next. Nothing had come to her mind that made sense which had annoyed her the previous night. Kaiya sat up, her mind buzzing with possible ideas before standing up. She then wandered into the little holo-library, unaware of Xiarr being in ther. That is, until her eyes fell upon him. Though, she hardly reacted to him. She turned away from, keeping her back facing him as she walked over to one of the shelves.
