STRENGTHS
- | Death From Above | With its standard armament, the Lancet features enough firepower to punch holes through armored vehicles as well as send infantry scattering for cover. By being able to maintain superior positioning from above, the Lancet can access locations that would prove detrimental to anyone attempting to engage it, being able to lay out oppressive fields of fire with their laser cannons and projectile launchers. They have the high ground and are a nightmare to any slow/stationary targets.
- | Rapid Response/Deployment | With their sleek, aerodynamic designs, the Lancet is able to fly across the battlefield at high speeds, allowing them to be deployed and respond to threats quickly and effectively. They may not be as fast as an interceptor, but they certainly move faster than any speeder bike conventionally deployed on the battlefield when in their dedicated aerial mode.
- | Versatility | A great strength that the Lancet possesses is its sheer battlefield versatility. They can be used to supplement ground troops and provide cover, be deployed in space as a means of repelling starfighters or boarding ships.
- | Just a Machine | At the end of the day, the Lancet is simply a droid, and vulnerable to anything that a droid might be susceptible to such as Ionic or EMP weaponry. Though they're typically stationed at heights where conventional responses such as grenades don't pose much of a threat they will still react in a negative manner to them as well as ionic weapons that some starfighters may have equipped.
- | Transformation | The transformation for the Lancets is a rather slow process, taking roughly around ten seconds to deploy from mode to mode, leaving them vulnerable to small arms fire or any other sort of harm when they arrive or are attempting to flee a position.
DESCRIPTION
The AS-003 'Lancet' Class Aerial Assault Droid is as its name suggests, a droid based and designed around aerial combat, though more commonly designed as a support-oriented unit type. Lancet droids have an alternate mode that allows them to function and move like a downscaled fighter, while still retaining some of the weapons starfighters utilize to great effect. This allows the Lancet to accompany troop transports as light escorts and when the transport arrives at its destination transition into its bipedal droid form to assist organic units either on the ground or in its flight mode from above.
The greatest advantage that Lancets possess is their battlefield presence. When converted to their flight modes, an entire squadron of Lancets can move from one location to the other, assisting in pushes or providing reinforcements to locations that may lack infantry to hold it. Their ability to function in space also makes them an excellent unit for boarding ships or assisting starfighters in dogfights. Their medium laser cannons and projectile launchers can make short work of infantry while also posing a threat to hostile armored vehicles or infantry with extended fire, making them quite effective in softening larger targets or harassing ones unable to shoot them down or unable to move quickly enough to escape.
