STRENGTHS
- | You Can Stop Worrying About Explosives Now | The Glaucus is essentially a walking active defense system, being able to identify, target and destroy incoming ordinance in the form of grenades/explosives, rockets/missiles, mass driver rounds, etc with powerful high-intensity lasers to detonate such munitions from a safe distance away from infantry accompanying the Glaucus. With several APS located on the chassis, the Glaucus is able to intercept any projectile within a 270-degree area in front of each.
- | Versatility | The Glaucus is a versatile droid that easily has the durability and armaments to classify it as a light tank; and a rather mobile/agile one at that. Its ability to mount any number of weapons to convert it into a mobile weapons platform make it a universally usable droid for securing air space, handling infantry, armor, etc.
WEAKNESSES
- | Shock and Awe | Even though its brain is buried deep within a well-protected and insulated chassis, ion/EMP weapons (Particularly grenades) can blind and disrupt its targeting routines, making it close to impossible to intercept devices it was meant to shoot down.
- | Slow Velocity | Similar to how Droideka deflector shields functioned, the Glaucus' APS only targets projectiles or ordinance traveling above a certain velocity, the lowest velocity being a hand-thrown object. Slow-moving or stationary ordinance is not targeted by the Glaucus' APS.
DESCRIPTION
The AS 'Glaucus' Class Assault/Support Droid is a mobile infantry protection droid, designed for protecting infantry and vehicles as well as providing heavy fire support with its provided armaments. It reacts to hostile threats and ordinance within mere nanoseconds of them coming into its range of awareness, being able to identify, target and intercept explosives with extreme precision using high-intensity lasers to detonate them before they come in lethal range. It's primary position would typically be at the point or rear of formations, being able to quickly maneuver into whatever place it needed to be with its ability to move with repulsorlifts, being able to travel at up to 90-100 km/h.
The AS 'Glaucus' also functions as an excellent fire support unit, being equipped with a particle beam chainblaster as its standard and primary weapon, being supplemented with a pair of light repeating blaster integrated into the 'palm' of their hands. These can be swapped out with any type of ranged weapon, but the typical alternative is a pair of ARC casters. Its hands feature crush gaunt tech, allowing them to snap anything unfortunate to get caught in its grasp with ease, or for moving debris out of the way. The abdomen of the Glaucus also features a number of hardpoints where larger weapons such as anti-air cannons, mortars, missile pods, etc. can be mounted, giving the Glaucus additional support for ground forces as a versatile unit.
