The Asena-class Battlecruiser was a warship conceived for planetary defense, planetary assault, troop transport, and ship-to-ship combat. It was designed by Iron Wrath Industries, and produced by the Iron Empire. It saw use as part of the Iron Imperial Navy, serving the role of a Carrier Battlecruiser. At 3,000 metres in length, the Asena was one of the largest warships in the Iron Imperial fleet.

Unlike other categories of Iron Imperial Battlecruisers, the Asena-class Battlecruiser was not intended for ship-to-ship combat. Rather, its focus was the transportation of large quantities of starfighters. To that end, the Asena was outfitted with a inordinate amount of hangars. This allowed the vessel to carry up to 18 squadrons of starfighters.

To protect the vessel, the Asena-class Battlecruiser was equipped with a primary deflector shield, a redundant deflector shield, and a reinforced hull. While the primary shield generators sat nestled within the Asena itself, the redundant shield generators stood atop its bridge tower.

This combination of hangar capacity, and defensive equipment, left the Asena-class Battlecruiser with little space for offensive weaponry. As such, it was equipped with a relatively meager arsenal, consisting of only: 4 Heavy Long Range Turbolaser Batteries, 8 Long Range Turbolaser Batteries, 16 Turbolaser Batteries, 4 Long Range Ion Batteries, 8 Ion Batteries, and 3 Hyper Velocity Guns. Lightly armed, the Asena required escort craft to protect it, so as to not be easy prey for similar-sized vessels.
