They are hardened troops, ready to put themselves at increased risk in an effort to open up enemy defenses and create pockets of weakness for the Ashlan military to exploit. They are easily recognized by their thick armor and heavy weaponry, as well as they unending will to push forward despite being under constant enemy fire.

Combat Function: The purpose of the grenadiers, in short, revolves around the use of explosive weaponry, whether it be their signature grenade launchers, or other types of detonated explosives. They are also utilized as bomb disposal units, as their expertise in this area makes them the most qualified for such a task. In combat, the grenadiers are often used to break defenses, whether it be bunkers, turrets, or the enemies formations. They are incredibly useful during sieges, and can also be used to neutralize lighter vehicles, such as scout walkers and speeders. Overall, they are both the support and the supported, as they are only one piece to the greater mechanism that is the Crusade's military.
Force Abilities: N/A
Heavy Hitters: The kit of the grenadiers was cultivated for the purpose of dealing large bursts of damage while protecting the soldier. As such, the grenadiers can take quite the beating before going down while simultaneously punching through both enemy lines and fortifications.
Extensive Experience:Grenadiers are recruited exclusively from the more experienced members of the infantry, making them a more effective force than the standard soldier.
Lack of Diversity: The grenadiers are a highly specialized unit, making them exceptional at tasks within their sphere of combat, but less prepared for situations outside of that specialization.
Sluggish: Compared to other lighter forms of infantry, the grenadiers are less mobile, requiring more time to get to an objective, and often needing the assistance of other units in the process.
The expansion of the Ashlan military was a great undertaking. The Crusade had originated as a ragtag group of various peoples, and as such, a centralized military wasn't fully established in the earlier years of the movement. Over time, the Ashlan government began centralizing their efforts, creating a proper standing army to better serve Ashla. As a part of this effort, veterans were slowly pulled from the ranks and placed into more specialized units, allowing the Crusade to form a more versatile force overall. The first test of this new system took the form of the grenadiers, and as they proved their worth on the battlefield, it proved that the concept was working. Now they are a staple of the Ashlan military, fighting their way across the galaxy on the front lines in the name of the Light.
