SETTING INFORMATION
City Name: Ashla’s Embrace
Classification: Metropolis
Location: Tython
Affiliation: The Alliance - Governed and ran by the Grandmaster of the Ashlan Order or an appointed representative.
Population: Moderate
Demographics: Given Tython’s location in the deep core, the majority of people who call the city home are near-human. Neither the order nor the city’s inhabitants turn away alien species, due to the belief Ashla’s Embrace is a holy site open to all who accept her light into their lives.
- Human/Near-Human: ~65%
- Alien: ~35%
Wealth: Medium - While the city is allocated funds by the Alliance, it is not a large-scale trade hub or merchant city. Those who live within Ashla’s Embrace find it easy to maintain a comfortable lifestyle, but none are living lives of extreme luxury or poverty. A humble life is expected of the citizens.
Stability: High - Ashla’s Embrace was established by the Ashlan Order for the order and its following. It is protected by the Jedi invested in their home, as well as alliance forces stationed within the city. While crime still exists in the city, those who commit such acts are exiled. It is a peaceful place full of those who aim to uphold the tenants of the order.
Freedom & Oppression: The city is under theocratic rule, with the Ashlan Order’s grandmaster having complete control. Some may consider a religious atmosphere of this type stifling, while others may consider it freeing. The populace is left to its own devices as long as the laws of the Alliance are upheld within by the citizens. The dark side is not tolerated by any means. Those who willingly practice and pursue the corrupting influences of the dark side are met with extreme prejudice, facing imprisonment and then death at the hands of the Jedi. The city is open to Jedi of all walks of life as well, but they are expected to respect the traditions of their hosts.
Description: Built along a string of mountains on Tython, Ashla’s Embrace is a beautiful city sculpted from the stone itself. Nestled away in a ravine, the city is protected by both the terrain and terraformed walls pulled from the earth. Thousands have made the pilgrimage to live a life beneath the Ashla’s light, seeking unity and protection in the chaotic galaxy. The Ashlan Order calls the Lightborne Cathedral home, training to protect the Alliance’s subjects while maintaining close ties to the force. The city is meant to remind those of humble beginnings, as shown by the traditional Tython-architecture used in its construction throughout. A river runs through the ravine, eventually joining into a lake that lies adjacent to the city.
POINTS OF INTEREST
A Journey’s End: The large freshwater lake that sits adjacent to the city. It is a flourishing ecosystem in its own right, capable of providing food and water alike to the residents of Ashla’s Embrace. The ravine's winding river ends at the lake.
Hope's Peak Starport: Constructed into the mountainside, Hope's Peak is a decently sized starport capable of holding ships of various sizes. It's not quite large enough for star destroyers and other larger ships to dock within the various hangars, but most personal ships will find it an accomodating space.
The Empyrean: The largest structure within the city, the Empyrean is a monolithic citadel built into the mountain, much like the rest of the city. However, it is built from the base of the ravine to nearly the top of the city itself. The citadel is open to all residents of Ashla's Embrace as both a primary place of worship and protection. Here the master's of the Ashlan Order meet to discuss matters as small as merchant disputes to topics as large as bringing the fight to darker elements of the galaxy. The Empyrean also houses the order's archives, a plethora of training rooms for Jedi, and quarters to house all members of the order and then some.
The Archives: Much of what the archives hold are collected from Tython and Coruscant, though they continue to grow with each passing day. It is a suitable location to seek out information on the mysteries of the force, lightsaber combat, and the more obscure teachings and histories that surround the Jedi.
SECURITY
Maximum Security: Outfitted with defenses from Aegis Solutions, Jaeger Solutions, and the Technoid Manufactorum; Ashla's Embrace is capable of holding off attacks from land, the sky, and cyber threats. An automated droid defense is maintained by the X-02 "Apollo" Class Artificial Super Intelligence, answering and all threats with extreme prejudice. Beyond the large scale droid forces and Alliance troops, the Ashlan Order is key in maintaining peace within the city. The ravine is a natural defense, given the majority of the city is built into the cliff/mountainside. Terraformed walls rise up along the ravine, plated with durasteel to keep the defenses from breaking down.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
During the One Sith's occupation of the core worlds, Tython was one of many to be broken beneath the Sith banner. Long before the Sith took the world, its people lived peacefully. Many were drawn to the nexus, A Journey's End, due to the supernatural vitality and healing it provided the people. A small settlement existed there until the Sith wiped it from the map and killed most who called it home. The nexus endured, slowly healing after the atrocities committed by the corrupted regime. Soon enough, the people of Tython returned, led by the Ashlan Order. Its touch was seen for miles, breathing life into the near-dead world. Hope spread and others took up a long pilgrimage to eventually settle beside the Jedi Paladins.
From there, the order and their charge built the city up. Homes were carved from the mountainside, utilized for natural protections. The Alliance, then the Imperium, brought larger workforces to build up the city. Within a year, it became home to the order officially.
