- Name: Ashla's Root
- Origins: Ahch-To (canon) Ahch-To (Chaos Canon)
- Other Locations: N/A
- Classification: Sentient Algae
- Average Growth Cycle: 80 years
- Viability: Near complete submersion in water or ice with sunlight it is able to absorb.
- Description: Greenish brown and slick with a mucus like slime produced to make it inedible to larger predators. Ashla's root is in fact an algae that has grown in the light of Ahch-To and it can bond telepathically with a force user controlling the water around itself to form constructs of animals based on their thoughts,
- Average Height: In theory it can be any size under the water but on the surface of the water a maximum size of 2 meters
- Average Length: In theory it can be any size under the water but on the surface of the water no longer then 3 meters
- Color: Greenish Brown
- Nutritional Value: No value as a food
- Toxicity: Not toxic enough to harm but when eaten it causes indigestion and vomiting.
- Other Effects: Able to bond with force users.
- Distinctions: An an algae it is fairly simple, floating on the surface of the waters of Ahch-To in the sun with a mucus like sheen on it that makes it not edible to predators. The proximity to the islands have it in larger gatherings and a semi hive mind can form allowing it to move in the water. When bonded with a jedi it can find them on the world and use the water to create constructs from the water.
- Hydro Constructs: When mentally bonded with a force user the algae can use the water around itself to create limited constructs based on the mind of the force user... it requires concentration between the two of them and a deeper connection.
- Force Sensitivity: All of the algae is force sensitive but it can't really speak or interact with the world. Like kyber crystals it grows, it calls to force users and it exists.
- Adaption: ABle to survive and be transported to other water worlds or snow as long as it is buried in the ice and able to absorb the water from the ice. Its constructs in ice are weaker but for worlds like Hoth it can make snowmen able to help the jedi or provide shelter from blizzards.
- Force Nullification: The algae is force sensitive and so void stone or means to nullify the force can render its bonding and ability to make constructs impossible.
- Surface of the Water: Its constructs cannot maintain cohesion without contact with the water... at least a part of it needs to touch as it will start falling apart if it leaves contact.
- Mental Connection: The mental connection is needed and it has to be maintained. The shape of whatever is given by the force user giving the image to the algae and from there it needs to keep it connected together.
- Snow Constructs: Somethign that can be done on icy worlds when it is submerged, the constructs though are usually weaker and smaller in size or scale but can be done with the ice.
- Shapers: Water/Ice shapers can control the elements and are one of the biggest dangers to the constructs.
A strange thing that was discovered on Ahch-To through exploration of the planet. THe jedi set out after exploring the main island temple and following the caretakers they were able to discover several ruined temple sites across the planet and a wide range of different fish. The deeper the oceans got in some places the stranger tthe fauna the probes revealed but when they came across a patch of algae between some of the islands the jedi discovered something interesting. The algae was alive or something close to it... they could feel it in the force, they could touch it and study it but it required to be almost submerged in the water. They studied it and it seemed to call out to some force users within the jedi allowing them to find bulbs of the algae that reacted to the force. WHen they connected with it their connection could shape the water around the algae into mental images.. simple at first but with training and concentration constructs could be formed that would use the water and could be solid if it was on the surface of the water... their couldn't make flying creatures but quadropedal beings able to run along the surface of the water or even constructs that fired the water at things like fire. The jedi continued to study it but they couldn't find much in the ways of history, the algae might show basic forms of awareness and intelligence but it was more on par with kyber crystals that could choose force users and call to them when they were in meditation. Experimenting with things like bleeding woulnd't be able to be preformed and outside of water the algae dried quickly which could kill the lifeform preventing large scale offworld endeavors.
