STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:
(-) Poor Pilot: The primary gap in Astraea's military prowess is her ability to effectively pilot spacecraft. While she initially aspired to join Starfighter Corp like her brother, it was determined very early on in her training that she was not a competent pilot. This lack of skill in space extends far beyond a standard starfighter, however, and she finds herself uncomfortable in positions of leadership on larger ships as well. Her tactical ability in space is similarly hindered and theoretical.
(-) Ruthless: One of the less flattering notes in her file is her penchant for showing little sympathy (and for the matter, mercy) to opposing forces. She has often advocated for and implemented brutal tactics to secure victories on the battlefield which is understandably frowned upon in the Alliance. On at least one occasion, Astraea was rumored to force a march of surrendered troops through the streets of a village she'd been dispatched to defend from marauders.
(+) Physical Strength: Astraea has had a long record of military service beginning at the age of 18 following graduation from the Alliance (formerly Republic) Military Academy on Tepasi. She received a commission Officer Cadet in the Galactic Alliance Defense Force Navy and fought many battles for the Alliance on the front lines and later transferred to the high-intensity service of the Alliance Marine Corps. Her prolonged military training and service have made her much more physically fit than most, her hand to hand combat is unrivaled by most, even species with genetically superior physiques, making her more than capable of taking on a fully grown specimen twice her size.
(+) Tactical Superiority: Astraea's education at the Academy was some of the best military tactical training afforded in the galaxy. Her daily classes included intensive drills about effective military strategy both ancient and newly developed as well as in-depth simulations where she and her classmates took simulated command of units to defeat their opponents. Her meteoric rise in the GADF to the rank of lieutenant was owed in part to her ability to adapt on the field of battle and outsmart the opposing side.
(+) Weapons Mastery: Part of Astraea's training also included a thorough examination of and training with the wide variety of weaponry used in galactic warfare. In addition to her training with various militarized melee weapons such as electrostaves, batons, and even a variety of laser weaponry, she is also exceptional in her handling of both small blasters and heavy infantry guns. She is also able to operate a number of tank models utilized by the Alliance as well as anti-aircraft weaponry and shelling equipment. In particular, though, she favors battle armor that augments her physical abilities.
APPEARANCE:
Astraea is rather tall for the average human female, like most members of the Tagge family. She is fair-skinned and has wave blonde hair that cascades just beyond her shoulders. While in the presence of her family or at formal affairs on Tepasi where her family reigns, she is known to occasionally don luxurious gowns and jewelry, but her preference is for slim-flitting clothing with no adornment. Still, on most days as an active servicewoman, she is only ever seen wearing her uniform.
BIOGRAPHY:
As a member of House Tagge, arguably one of the most wealthy and famous in the galaxy, Astraea was raised in the lap of luxury on the forested planet of Tepasi. Her father, Ulric Tagge IX, was the brother of the man who would eventually become Chancellor of the Alliance, and her mother, Andromeda was a demure lady from one of the other noble houses of Tepasi. She was the youngest of two children with one elder brother, which, despite the wealth and privilege enjoyed by her relatives, meant that she was often overlooked in matters of import among the immediate members of her family. She was expected to be a kind, gentle, quiet, and obedient young lady, which only led her to frequent rebellious and destructive behaviors.
At the age of 17, she forced her parents into allowing her to seek admission in the Alliance (formerly Republic) Military Academy on Tepasi as a last resort to correct her behavior. Initially keen to join the Starfighter Corps as her brother had, she was rejected almost immediately but given the opportunity to receive a naval specialized education. Given the alternative of returning home, Astraea accepted admission into the Naval Academy. Her tenure at the Academy revealed to her superiors that she was a brilliant tactician with a strong drive and aptitude for ground force combat. Upon graduation, she was given a commission as a Naval Officer Cadet, but her prowess in battle led to her transfer to the Marine Corps.
Around the time her Uncle Emmen was elected to serve the newly formed Alliance as Chancellor, Astraea was promoted to the rank of lieutenant leading to widespread rumors in the Marine Corps that the promotion was the result of favoritism (though it was not.) The lies only enflamed the resentment she felt toward her family and fueled her generally unkind disposition. As a 2nd lieutenant of the Marine Corps she was given command of a company of 40 GADF soldiers and led many successful ground assaults on behalf of the Alliance and her reputation as a ruthless officer was widespread. While her company was generally treated well, the treatment of the opposing forces was often harsh and on at least on occasion led to an investigation by the GADF and the Alliance Senate which eventually turned up no misconduct.
Recently, as a tribute to her efforts on recently assimilated Alliance worlds, Astraea received a promotion to Lieutenant within the Marine Corps and was given command of 160 Alliance Marines.
