A general-purpose portable missile launcher for infantry and dismounted soldiers facing attacking aircraft or ground vehicles. The Astraeus carries five warheads of a given type, anti-armor, high explosive, or another small missile/rocket. The inbuilt targeting sensors allow a user to select from a variety of fire and forget tracking methods or dumb-fire options should a lock be unavailable. One special firing mode launches a missile unguided only for it to later go active and home in from behind after its victim believed it avoided was carried over from the PLX-4.
The Astraeus can easily be fired over the shoulder or from a tripod, either in person or via a wired or signal remote. Standard tracking options include, radar, thermal, repulsor gravity distortion, energy reading, an active-sensor lock, or by using a warhead's native tracking abilities.
