Public Astromech droid for sale!

A Jawa sandcrawler would slowly and steadily make its way through the dune seas in Tatooine. Within it, R3-K6 would find himself, trying as hard as possible to remove his restraining bolt, with little to no success in the process. The Jawa had "abducted" him from a ship's wreck and had been kind enough to actually repair and replace the few parts that were damaged.
"If only that poor smuggler had taken the escape vector I plotted instead of trying to outmanouver fighters with a hauler."
He thought to himself. He shook his head, as little as he could with the bolt still in place at least, and sat there, waiting.
Of course, the Jawa's intentions for the droid were quite obvious: Sell him for profit. And, eventually, the massive vehicle parked next to a settlement, with the Jawa setting up shop almost instantly.

"Gather! Gather! Droids for sale, yes? Cheap and good!"
The Jawa would yell in their dialect, as onlookers approached the site.
Droids of all shapes, colours, and functions would be lined up, R3-K6 would be also placed among those lucky (or unlucky, from a certain point of view) droids, he'd look around at the people, hoping no one there would try to dismantle him or worse, who knows what someone in the outer rim might plan for a droid, what sort of mechanical abomination would he become, he quickly deleted that thought and would also start plotting a possible escape route, should things go south.
"Bidding start now friends!"
The Jawa would shout once more as customers began going through the droids.

Tatooine wasn't officially on Sor-Jan's approved list of pitstops, but it was certainly hard to pass up the Jawas and their droid markets. He'd heard all about them from the spacers on Toshara and decided that a brief looksie on his was back to Eadu in Republic space wasn't too unforgivable of a detour.

His starfighter, the Xanadu Fire, touched down alongside a few others near the monolothic sandcrawler. Sor-Jan had never seen one before and was immediately impressed with the sheer size of it. "Wow," he marveled to himself.

The sand crunched under his boots as he stepped toward the Jawas. They were already busy lining up a wide selection of droids. Everything you could imagine, from protocol droids to old Confederacy units, were on display and ready for sale or barter. Luckily, the Xanadu was loaded down with trade goods from Toshara - amberine, old Imperial salavage, and even some Pyke contraband stowed under the floor panels. If none of that was appealing, however, he did have most of his Miyuki stipend left. Even a Jawa wouldn't turn up good old credits.

"Hey there," the boy said in Basic. He wasn't fluent in Jawa Trade Talk enough to speak it, but he could understand the important bits at least. Sor-Jan looked over the droids eagerly, but it was R3-K6 R3-K6 that his eyes landed on. "Can I see him?" Sor-Jan asked one of the Jawas. The brown-hooded creature rabbled its affirmations, and Sor-Jan nodded his thanks. He stepped closer to the astromech and waved.

"My name's Sor-Jan," he said with a smile.

"Greetings!"
The droid would beep exitedly, thinking someone is finally going to take him and, hopefully, remove that annoying restraining bolt.
"I am R3-K6. Engineering and Navigation are my primary directives."
He would reply, and try to scan this new person, he surely didn't seem as threathening as the other "meatbags" around. He in fact seemed quite young, there's no way he would have any malicious intent, right? R3-K6 would remain just slightly cautious however, not mentioning his modifications just yet, even if doing so would be a good way to ensure he is bought.
After that, he would stand by waiting for the young man's answer, as the Jawa approached
"Droid is new. Perfect condition. Good deal!"
The creature would say, hoping to ensure the trade.

Sor-Jan smiled at the droid. It felt a bit odd given that he was purchasing something that felt no different than any other living being, but in the Outer Rim, droid rights were a touchy subject... if it ever came up at all. "Whaddya think, little guy? I have enough salvage on my ship to make the trade. Would you like to come with me?" He'd have to answer to his parents when he got back to Eadu with a fraction of his salvage and a new droid, but the astromech was in remarkable condition considering this was Tatooine.

The Jawa seemed eager to bargain. Some old Imperial scrap from Eriadu and windfishers from Toshara piqued the little rodent's interest. It was all up to R3-K6 R3-K6 now, and Sor-Jan wanted to be sure that the droid was given a proper choice in the matter.

The droid would process his situation. On one hand: The boy was still a stranger and things could go awry, who knows what kind of people he might be affiliated with, or what sort of shady business he may be hiding. On the other: His previous owner lies dead somewhere in the desert, his memory had been just recently wiped so anyone before that smuggler is a mistery, and now he's Jawa property, whatever the young man here might be up to, it sure is better than remaining by the Jawa, certainly far more interesting at least. After pondering this options, the droid would answer:
"Affirmative."
A simple, yet effective answer. "Worst case scenario I can run away" he thought, as he awaited for the boy to finish the trade.

R3's affirmative beep was all Sor-Jan needed to hear. The boy looked to the Jawa and reached to shake its hand, setting the dimunitive alien into an eager dash to Sor-Jan's starship. Any restraining bolts that R3 had were removed by a second Jawa, and when he was released, Sor-Jan waved for him to follow. "Come on! I'll show you my ship. I think you'll like it a lot!"

His parents had described it as a humble vessel, but Sor-Jan was really proud of it nonetheless. He didn't need some massive freighter to get around, preferring instead to fly fast and nimble just like he was on the ground.

"I fly for Miyuki Trade League mostly," the boy explained as he led R3 to the Xanadu Fire. "We trade a lot of salvage, but we also make blasters and armor. Sometimes ships, too." He left out the part about being a vault hunter - that would be a surprise, if R3 decided to stay by his side. Sor-Jan was taught young that hunting for ancient Miyuki vaults was a dangerous venture. It attracted all kinds of attention that a young spacer didn't need, especially one with his newfound namesake.
