- Trace amounts of the rare metal Guerrerite is used in the creation of the hypercharge matrix used when firing at the "Full" setting; models which don't include this setting are thus somewhat cheaper.
- When fired at the Full Setting the weapon is effective in a small area surrounding the target; the same can be said for the unbound variant of the Stun setting, which emits a monodirectional high-pitched wail more suited to distract or cause pain than fully incapacitate.
- Versatile: In order to increase its versatility, the Persecutor is capable of firing in three distinctive modes, modes which can be switched between almost instantaneously. Some variants sold to law enforcement have the Full and possibly even Precision settings permanently disabled.
[Full]: At its most powerful setting, the Persecutor will project a terrifyingly potent blast of sonic energy, capable of dealing immense damage to enemy combatants and even posing a risk to some vehicles. - [Precision]: At its so-called "precision" setting, the Persecutor will fire a compact blast of energy, suitable for taking down single targets with a far lower risk for collateral damage.
- [Stun]: At its lowest setting, the Persecutor uses a considerably weaker blast to stun hostile targets; armoured targets and especially big and/or resistant creatures can be unaffected, however. Similarly, the Persecutor is noticeably more likely to kill frail and diminutive targets than a blaster's stun setting. On a similar note, the stun blast can be made "unrestrained", allowing it to cause pain and discomfort to large groups of unprotected targets at shorter ranges, which is especially useful as an improvised riot control tool.
[*]Bane of the Jedi: A distinct advantage of sonic weapons, the blasts they project are unable to be fully blocked by a lightsaber.
[*]Built to Last: With its sturdy frame and simple maintenance, the Persecutor is well suited for a wide variety of forces and environments, from SWAT Teams on Coruscant to troopers in the sweltering desert of Tatooine or the harsh wastes of Hoth.
Weaknesses:
- Bane of the Trigger-Happy: While each shot packs a punch, the Persecutor has a highly limited ammunition capacity when compared to a blaster rifle, an issue compounded by the requirement to open the rifle up in order to load a new Power Cell; a sacrifice made to make it more resistant to harsh environments.
- Where no Sound can Reach: For obvious reasons, the Persecutor is not particularly useful in a vacuum.
- Where Sound does Reach: Not surprisingly, the Persecutor's reliance on sonic energy to do damage makes it exceedingly loud; in addition to this being an obvious disadvantage to those favouring stealth, unprotected ears can quickly be damaged with continuous use.
Blaster rifles. They were common, ever so common. Common. Was. Boring. Akiratis' Experimental Weapons Division was a lot of things, but uninventive was not one of them. When instructed to produce a mainline rifle for retail and corporate security, the idea of just another blaster rifle was quickly dismissed. Taking inspiration from weaponry used by the Corporate Sector Authority, a number of prototypes were created.
Some were too bulky, some too weak. Some were uncomfortable to use and others just plain ugly. The final variant, the one slated for mass-production, was the best of the bunch. Deadly, yet versatile. Sleek, yet robust. It was a masterpiece, a wonder of engineering, at least as far as Akiratis' engineers were concerned.
Loudly advertised as a Jedi-killer and an excellent way of dealing with heavily armoured foes, as the relative rarity of sonic weapons means that most armours are not built to withstand them, the Persecutor is nonetheless not without flaws. The most obvious of these being its limited ammunition and inability to be used in a vacuum, though ear damage to insufficiently protected users and bystanders have also turned out to be major problems. So much so that law enforcement that uses these weapons frequently have to put aside a small fund solely for funding medical treatment for the slew of ruptured eardrums and worse that arise when these weapons are used incorrectly. As always, Akiratis merely provides the tools; it is up to its customers to ensure that they are used responsibly.
