STRENGTHS
  • Galven Circuit - The AT-M14 incorporates specialized components that result in a higher output of damage which is accomplished by the galven circuits concentrating the beam generated by the blaster into a more powerful and focused blaster bolt.
  • Auto-Steady Gyrogimbal - To ensure that the weapon remained as precise as possible even when discharged, the blaster was designed to incorporate an Auto-Steady Gyrogimbal which aids in keeping the weapon steady even when being fired in rapid succession.
  • Optical-Imaging Scope - Each AT-M14 is equipped with a variable optical-imaging scope that allows the operator of the weapon to zoom up to eight times magnification as well as display thermal imaging.
WEAKNESSES
  • High Recoil - Despite the AT-M14 being a dedicated blaster rifle, it is still capable of producing a high recoil due to its galven circuitry and amplifying chamber, with the recoil being a byproduct of the concentrated blaster bolt being discharged from the weapon.
  • Low Firing Rate - Unlike standard Blaster Rifles and Carbines, the AT-M14 has a limited rate of fire, requiring that the operator pull the trigger for each shot rather than being able to hold down the trigger to continuously lay down a hail of blaster bolts.
  • Galven Components - The inclusion of specialized galven circuitry and various components requires additional maintenance and upkeep to be performed on the weapon beyond the normal. Lack of, or refusal to perform this additional upkeep can result in the weapon misfiring, being rendered inoperable, or in the worst case scenario, exploding in the operator's hands.
DESCRIPTION
Developed in secret alongside the Alliance Guard Armor, the AT-M14 was designed and produced to provide the secretive Galactic Alliance Guard its standard issue blaster rifle that was both reliable at shorter ranges and effective at longer ranges. The AT-M14 incorporates specialized Galven Circuitry and Galven Components which produce a more powerful blaster bolt by concentrating the beam generated in its Actuating Module into a more focused and powerful bolt resulting in a higher output of damage compared to similar blaster rifles. A direct result of the weapon producing a more powerful and concentrated blaster bolt is that the AT-M14 is known to produce an equally powerful recoil when the weapon is discharged. If an individual were to fire the weapon without it being properly nestled against the shoulder or supported, it could result in injury to the operator, the most common of which being a dislocated shoulder.

As the AT-M14 is designated a Precision Blaster, each weapon comes equipped with a variable optical-imaging scope that allows an operator of the weapon to zoom up to eight times magnification as well as display thermal imaging. This focus on producing a precision rifle also led to its lower rate of fire, requiring that an individual pull the trigger for each shot rather than being able to hold the trigger down for continuous fire. Likewise, this lower rate of fire is also due to a smaller munitions capacity, with the energy cell having to be replaced or recharged every twenty shots, and the gas reserve refilled after every sixty shots. The decision to include the various Galven components within the weapon also requires that additional maintenance and upkeep be performed on the weapon beyond what could be considered normal; with refusal or lack of such resulting, most commonly, in the weapon misfiring.

The AT-M14 is an effective and reliable weapon, developed for a secret project that is slowly beginning to see the light as the Galactic Alliance finds itself locked in an expanding and almost limitless conflict. Though requiring additional maintenance, and producing a kick that could rip the ears off a Gundark, the AT-M14 more than makes up for it with its concentrated and more powerful blaster bolts as well as its ability to more easily reach out and touch an enemy. It is only a matter of time for the Galactic Alliance Guard to be deployed in full, and at the side of many of its scouts and rangers will be the AT-M14.
