STRENGTHS
  • Galven Circuit - Each AT-WM9 is equipped with specialized galven circuitry that concentrates the blaster beam into a stronger more focused blaster bolt, resulting in a more powerful and concentrated discharge compared to a standard blaster rifle.
  • Increased Capacity - A larger gas reserve and increased power supply ensures that the AT-WM9 has a larger munition capacity, meaning that the weapon can fire for a longer period of time before either its power cells or gas reserve need to be recharged or refilled.
  • Modularity - The greatest strength of the AT-WM9 comes from the ease by which multiple attachments can be equipped to the weapon, including under-barrel grenade launchers, one-shot pump-action missile-launcher, ascension cable-launcher with grappling-hook, or an under-barrel flame projector to name a few examples.
WEAKNESSES
  • Modularity - The greatest strength of the AT-WM9 is also its greatest weakness in terms of installation and deployment time for each attachment that the weapon can support. Whilst a singular attachment may only take a few minutes to properly install and calibrate to the weapon, additional attachments increase the time that it takes to properly install without damaging either the weapon or the attachment and ensuring that it is properly installed and will not adversely affect the weapon or render it inoperable.
  • Bulky - Due to its size the AT-WM9 is known to be a rather bulky and difficult-to-wield blaster rifle, making its use in tight confines all but impossible when a smaller weapon would be more suitable. Its size also requires that an individual undergo additional training to ensure that they have the proper stamina and endurance to effectively wield the weapon.
  • Weakpoint - The large circular section located forward of the trigger and just behind the barrel houses many of the more delicate and intricate features and components of the weapon such as its power cell housing. A direct strike to this area of the weapon can render the AT-WM9 inoperable in the best case, whilst a worst case scenario can result in injury or death to the operator.
DESCRIPTION
The Clone Wars brought about the innovation, design, and production of a great many weapons, vehicles, and starships that would ultimately form the backbone of the Old Republic and the eventual stepping stone of the First Galactic Empire. The Westar M5 was one such weapon, released at an unknown point during the conflict, it was largely utilized by the Advanced Recon Commandos of the Grand Army of the Republic. What it provided to the ARC Troopers and what made it adopted with open arms was its use in providing rapid cover fire as well as being able to accept a variety of attachments; the AT-WM9 seeks to capture this once more with a more modernized design of the weapon. Developed in secret by Aether Technologies alongside the AT-M14 and AT-P5, the AT-WM9 was produced with the intention that it would be deployed alongside the equally secrative Galactic Alliance Naval Security.

Designed on a selective fire platform, the AT-WM9 can be set to fire in three separate configurations, those being burst fire, semi-automatic, and fully-automatic; however the more skilled operators are capable of utilizing the burst fire to produce a single-shot variant. Much like its predecessor, the AT-WM9 boasts the capability of accepting a variety of attachments with its modularity being its greatest strength. This permits individuals to turn the weapon from a single Blaster Rifle into a well rounded multiuse platform depending on the needs of a mission. However, this modularity is also the weapon's weakness, as it often takes time to properly attach and attune each individual attachment to ensure that the weapon isnt rendered inoperable or results in a more devastating injury. Likewise, it is limited in how many attachments it can safetly accomodate without the power cells being overloaded and rapidly depleted.

Another glarring issue with the AT-WM9 can be seen in the large circular section just forward of the trigger, with this area housing many of the weapon's more delicate and vital features and components. A direct strike to this area can often rendered the weapon inoperable in the best case, whilst a worst case scenario can often result in premanent injury or even death. However, despite its bulky size often requiring additional training to properly and effective wield the weapon, the AT-WM9 is still an impressive weapons platform. Its overall ease of use, selective modes of fire, and its modularity ensure that the AT-WM9 will see service with the Galactic Alliance Naval Security for many years to come.
