DESCRIPTION |
There are times in a conflict when the need to preserve life is paramount or when a situation or hazard deems the deployment of organics into an area unacceptable as such a deployment may result in a greater loss of life than saved or preserved. In these instances, the need to accomplish the objective without exposing organic life to an unacceptable hazard results in the need for Battle Droids and their deployment to the front lines. The AT-XV is the successor of the older Veritas Series Battle Droid, though still retains many of the features and systems of its predecessor such as each droid being configured to accomplish a specific variation or role such as Anti-Infantry or Crowd Control; Furthermore, each specific variant is capable of being installed with a specialized pattern, further increasing its effectiveness and means to accomplish a goal or overcome a specific encountered obstacle. The AT-XV is capable of being installed with multiple patterns based on its specific variation and in regards to a specific need or to accomplish an objective. This means that the AT-XV is afforded greater flexibility and offers those units it is assigned to a more robust means to accomplish a task. However, ensuring that the AT-XV is installed with a specific pattern is an often lengthy and labor-consuming process that can render the droid vulnerable to attack, or result in a unit going without the support of assigned droids. This can also result in a unit's advanced grinding to a halt as AT-XVs are modified to overcome an obstacle that has been encountered. The Droids themselves are known for their sheer size and weight, which has caused their issues despite the strengths shown by the AT-XV. As such, the size of the droid has resulted in the development of blind spots even despite the installation of additional sensor systems, which are located on the sides and rear of the droid. These blind spots require that the droid move to face these directions to account for what may be in these areas or to rely upon additional droids or allies to secure the blind spots to prevent possible attacks. The weight of the AT-XV is also a hindrance in its own right when it comes to geographical features that the droid may encounter such as mud or sand, which can result in the droid sinking into the terrain and being rendered immobile. However, the overall strengths of the droid favor its operational deployment and can be considered to outweigh the numerous weaknesses that the droid is said to experience. Its size and weight can act as a deterrent in its own right when one of these behemoths is marching towards an objective, and the ease with which a droid can be modified with a specific pattern further opens up its flexibility and usefulness in any given situation. As the Galactic Alliance continues to face the threat of conflict and finds itself standing against the Mandalorians and the Sith, the AT-XV has begun to bolster the beleaguered Galactic Alliance Defense Force. |
