DESCRIPTION
Atargatis Industries was founded on Chaldea as a company that specialized in deep-sea diving. Their primary good was pearls, shells, fish, and crustaceans, which were harvested to serve as gems, building materials, and food respectively. In an effort to optimize their efforts, they developed a special "skin" for their divers which was meant to improve their maneuverability underwater. This skin was constructed through dubious means, including the use of alchemy. When word got out as to how they were being made, as well as mounting issues for those who donned the skin, the company was sued and nearly driven to bankruptcy.

RATIONALE
Following the scandal in which several of their employees were found guilty of illegally modifying their prized skin suits, Atargatis' reputation began to suffer. They began bleeding money and were on the verge of bankruptcy when a fledgling company bought them out. Under this new management, changes were made that included the elimination of the manufacture and wearing of the famous skins. Instead, their efforts were turned toward fishing, with diving becoming less of a concern.
