NAME: Athelus Palle

FACTION: Underworld

RANK: Smuggler/Apprentice

SPECIES: Mirialan

AGE: 27

SEX: Male

HEIGHT: 5'10"

WEIGHT: 174lbs

EYES: Orange

HAIR: Black

SKIN: Green

FORCE SENSITIVE: Yes

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:
Strengths
  • Level Headed: This is sort of a Palle family trait. They're all confident enough in themselves to not freak out in most situations.
  • Seer: He might not be trained, and might not seek it, but sometimes Athelus has visions of possible futures given to him by his connection to the Force. They can prove useful.
Weaknesses
  • Mouthy: He might be level headed, but he has a tendency to run his mouth when faced with authority figures. It tends to get him in trouble.
  • Weak: Unlike his siblings, he does not have a strong sort of body that easily builds muscle. He's wiry at best, which makes him quick, but means he'll crumble in a fist fight.
APPEARANCE:
Athelus is a smuggler and dresses in the attire of the trade, as exhibited in the image at the above right. He has ten total tattoos, touting his accomplishments, which include learning the Duro language, Huttese, and Binary (so he can understand droids). They stand for other things as well, but he won't typically mention them all because they're sort of nobody's business but his own. Other than that, he's got a myriad of scars on his upper body, chiefly his back, from getting caught one time by a One Sith patrol.

BIOGRAPHY:
Athelus was born two years before his prominent younger brother, Leos. Even more so before his youngest brother, Eli. As such he had the benefits of being the first to receive his parents attention, the first to be doted upon, and many other firsts for a young family. In essence, he was spoiled until Leos came along. Even when they were young the two of them squabbled. Not because they didn't like each other, but because Athelus started having visions at an early age, and could see the thing that his brother was going to become, and had actively tried to stop it. It hadn't gone over so well because he wasn't as strong as his younger brother. The end result was that he often ended up worn out and bested, which built a resentment within him that could not be assuaged by any means, though Leos often tried.

Because of this, Athelus was the second to leave Mirial, following Eli who was taken away by the Jedi at a very early age. So early that both Leos and Athelus didn't know where he went, and wondered if they would ever see him again. Athelus, when he left, tried to find his youngest brother at first, but often was one step behind Eli's movements. He was never quite capable of catching up to him, and he wondered if he did what would come of it since he was certain Eli wouldn't remember his family. Why his parents had allowed the Jedi to take him he didn't know. Suffice to say, Athelus wasn't much of a Jedi sympathizer. But neither was he a lover of Sith. He didn't like either side. They were both stupidly volatile and annoying. Plus they were often at the center of his occasional visions.

When his searches for his brother proved fruitless, it became apparent that he would need to find something else to guide his life. He signed on with a freighter crew, working his way into their good graces until he became a real part of the crew, entrusted with the sorts of duties that only seasoned crew mates would normally get assigned. He met a few Jedi this way, delivering goods to them. They recognized what he was and asked him to come with them so he could be trained, but he turned them down. He didn't want to be trained, he just wanted to be left alone to live his life. Of course that never happened.

The freighter was attacked in One Sith space by One Sith forces. Most of the crew was killed. He was captured and imprisoned, beaten, and ultimately released when they lost their control upon the worlds of the core. He recruited his fellow survivors and they banded together to take their fallen captains profits and purchase a freighter of their own, which they promptly modified and outfitted with hidden compartments. They decided to become smugglers rather than just being honest freighters. Oh sure, they took honest work too, but there wasn't always honest work for a single ship, not with the major corporations snatching up regular contracts. They usually got the dregs and more dangerous of the honest missions. The smuggling missions were more lucrative, and Athelus found he enjoyed the excitement that they brought him.

He settled in quickly as the captain of the crew, and the others followed him soundly because his decisions always proved best for them, except when they got caught every so often. Then he tended to get them into more trouble by mouthing off. They'd always cheat at cards after those events, and pull mean pranks on him as payback. He supposed he deserved it, but he did still care about them. After all, the best captain always cares about his crew, right?
