Valik
Professor of Alchemy
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
Upon hearing the legend of Lady Saro learning galactic basic by conducting a ritual involving eating the tongue of a storm trooper, Cord knew he had a fantastic marketing opportunity. Recreating the concept, Cord now packages and sells a stew mix, and instructions on how to supply a tongue for use. The user simply cuts up the tongue, cooks it with the stew mix, and eats the entire meal. It is reasonably nutritious, and not the worst tasting meal but far from fine cuisine. The consumer then gains fluency in the primary language of the tongue's owner. This can produce unpredictable results when consuming the tongue of say, experienced traders or language professors. This also does not provide the ability to make all sounds, e.g. a Wookiee would understand but not be able to speak Galactic Basic, as their species lacks the vocals necessary to do so. The stew only works three times in a sentient's life, and doesn't provide an understanding of the written word of any language (though speaking fleuncy typically makes one learn the written word faster). It also only works on "frag" kills, so eating a mummified tongue from Korriban won't make one learn ancient sith. Overall the Atoan Ritual Stew is a flavorful addition to any explorers arsenal of tricks, albeit a limited one
