- Description: Lithe in looks but muscled and fit. The Chi-Oni are the closest remnants to Ancient Atrisians with sharp vision, muscles with thicker bones that give them more strength. Natural force connection allowing them to alter their small appearances such as hair color, eyes and nails. Usually wearing ornate silks with oils in their hair. Often seen with painted lips and painted skin.

- Distinctions: The closest to ancient atrisians before they evolved into several sub-races on the world. They are more physically fit then the baseline Atrisians, with improved constitutions, sharper eyesight, strength and speed.

- UV Light: Their bodies react differently to levels of light.
- Red: More dangerous levels as it fatigues them easier and makes them feel ill.
- Yellow: Largely neutral levels which can still make them sick with prolonged exposure.
- Blue: Strongest light they can be under and it enhances their abilities with the force for a short time but withdrawing from it can give them seizures and shakes.
- Physical Powerhouse: Closer to their ancient ancestors, physically their bodies are stronger, muscles denser and bones tougher. Their lifespans are remarkibly longer then normal Atrisians even after tens of thousands of years interbreeding with lower species in their eyes.
- Heat Regulation: Their bodies are good at handling the cold of being underground and even in space. High temperatures and heat can cause their bodies to shake and overheat leading to dangerous conditions.
- UV Light: Living underground and with an artificial Sun the Chi-Oni are largely vulnerable to UV radiation produced by natural sunlight. Giving them a pale appearance
- Diet: Omnivore: They can eat nearly anything with poisons being just as effective on them as on their descendant cousins.

- Technology level: A mixture of above and below galactic standard. The Chi-Oni were devastated in wars and lost many of their advances save habitation technology which they used to hollow out and secure Chitei their hollowed world. Pumps to displace and remove the water while keeping it at a specific level, artificial sunlight to enrich and grow crops, advanced genetic facilities to ensure procreation of themselves as well as animals raised for consumption.
- Religion/Beliefs: Compared to the rest of Atrisia the Chi-Oni worship the old ways, the old blood. They remember in a more romantic way casting down the gods of their time and ascending to the stars to carve out an empire and the power of their Lords. It is the ancestors they honor who have since become to the primitive minds gods for their skills and endeavors. They are very big on belief in themselves and the strongest will rise to the top. To better organize though Chi-Oni society is set in three levels.
- The highest is the Emperor/Empress Court with its host of lords and ladies who act as voice of the emperor and empress. There are no workers amongst the nobles of the Chi-Oni, keeping slaves to perform tasks save for fighting which they consider a sacred duty. For all menial tasks slaves of Atrisians and other races they have kidnapped from above are kept.
- Below that are the merchants, the farmers, the everyday professions that are the lifeblood of Chitei trading, growing and healing the people. They have the best chances for advancement and through political marriages, wealth and status can raise in rank and power among the nobles.
- THe lowest but not neglected are the slaves, the servants and workers.... the most numerous in many ways are prized. Like livestock they are bred for strength, speed and endurance selectively to increase the wealth of their masters and when the status rises so do their benefits with some servants becoming powerful enough to become masters of their own servants or having households that rival others. They can become the doctors and merchants through work and competing in the arena games.
- Liaozhai Pantheon: The Chi-Oni controlled the entirety of Atrisian religions for a long time. They controlled the Tiantai and they in turn controlled all other religions.
- General behavior: Described as highly decadent and almost lethargic by some. The Chi-Oni are skilled fighters, artisans and very practical. They do not do something unless it is intended to be finished and for smaller mundane thingsa while they have the knowledge also have servants and slaves to handle such things. Instead focusing on their social standing. Among each other there is a strict social order with the highest ruling over the others in contrast to many of the later aspects but it is not exclusive. The Chi-Oni are ruled by a single family that encourages advancement by those with ambition to keep each other on their toes but it is done in a state of challenge and grudges among themselves serve little to the advancement of their society. Instead they use outsiders to play elaborate games, massive in scale where prisoners, slaves and those who wish for high honors can fight to the amusement of the crowd.
The Chi-Oni are the remnants of Atrisia's past, compared to many of the other tribes that devolved, went extinct or became something far more dangerous and adapted to the new ways... they fled underground and essentially sealed themselves off. Using their knowledge of the technology they had created for expanding their empire with terraforming to protect themselves and thrive underground only raiding the surface world for slaves and cattle as it were. They proved resilient and able to adapt to their new lifestyle as the last survivors of their empire and race as far as they knew. A number of different tribes would survive but the rage would be there for what they once were.
They continued to hide under the ground for tens of millions of years, the ancient races of Atrisia changing and when they encountered another species who came down deeper they used them... their knowledge of advanced technologies allowing them to understand the technology these beings brought and they were able to colonize a far flung world interbreeding to create the dominant Go Nagai who developed opposite becoming dangerous for a time bbefore they were stopped by a number of species in their own region of space. The Chi-Oni eventually cut off contact and continued to hold their own on their little area of the world.
Time though in Chitei stood still for the most part.. the Chi-Oni were prideful and didn't wish to lose their history but they were not of the numbers to sustain themselves and rebuild an empire. Resources was the first thing to focus on and wars broke out as many of those who survived were nobles and rival houses. Subjugated slaves to work in fields and raise the livestock that was brought down and ensure they had everything they needed. The emperor himself rose from this battle with his divine line... being one of the admirals who had pushed expansions of the empire and using that last remnants of his ships weapons that were brought down he ensured their greatest stronghold the crystal palace was secured.
It took time but they eventually overtook the others, creating the caste system which wasn't about oppression fully. THeir slaves were well cared for like the livestock they handled and fights in the Arena were important, the nobles themselves spent day after day fighting to the point only that was their duty. THey had others who handled the day to day but they were the warriors able to engage across battlefields everytime someone tried to overtake the emperor or their own houses. The Chi-Oni culture developed with occasional raids on the surface or collecting sacrifices from the Taintai who took first born children and others as offerings for their blessings and trade.
THe time spent underground changed them in many ways, their skin was more sensitive to UV light when they went up and information gathering become much more important as they started to observe different races developing under their descendants... The continued to develop themselves under the world, with much more in their technology preferring on sustainability... the arena bbecame a massive paret of them. Games that were grand in scale and re-enacted past battles from the wars, massive games of dejarik being played with slaves in the place of pieces. Their merchants and physicians proved to be some of the most ideal as they were always working to become nobles... keeping things fresh.
The decadence of the Chi-Oni led to other things.. from time to time explorers would follow legends of them and find the world.. they would not be allowed to leave the hollowed world until one brought a plague. The deaths were massive but many survived allowing more to grow and become masters of the others. As invaders came to the world when they were led into the tunnels and caves trying to find resistance fighters they met with dangerous fates as some of the Chi-Oni's warriors cut them down or enslaved them. They fought incursions from some of the surface before the emperor ordered them to cut it off and the slaves they took were stripped of their lives. Used to feed the kyber forests.
THe arrival of the Jishi era though saw the Chi-Oni discovered by the royal family and they were not going to be going away so there was a means.. they would reveal themselves to the people of Atrisia and while all knowledge of them wouldn't be known they would be seen as juyst another of the races on the world.. closer to them then many of the others and given their isolation from the world itself they could remain underground.
