- After-lifespan: Tainted by the darkside and corrupted into a twisted being, the Ishi were ancient Atrisians who when the world was being attacked didn't flee underground like their cousins instead seeking immortality and power to fight. They got it sort of being wraiths bound to an alter of the darkside in their forests they have survived bound to it.
- Force Hunter: Their senses and cognitive functions are largely muted but their senses and eyesight are keen. They can feel force users and hunt them down with unnatural speed.
- Non-Communicative: After centuries upon centuries of being isolated and twisted by the darkside.. their minds are reduced to a more primitive state making communication impossible. They do not speak, they do not eat, they do not trade or breed... they only shred things that come into their forests.
- Earth Bound Immortal: Bound to the alter in the ancient forests. The Ishi cannot leave without being ripped painfully back to the alter where they needed to learn to reform. it limits their abilities to travel.
- Force Nullification: They are bound deep within the forests to the alters and beings of the force. Nullification fields disrupt and repel them.
- Anger and Confusion: Their centuries of isolation, rage at being dead and constant pain has degraded their mental states.. they are not mindless but they are also not the most clever and can be felt with their anger long before they appear.

- Religion/Beliefs: It is unknown what their beliefs were long ago... that they worshiped the pale child was clear from the few ruins... death and the afterlife.. rituals to remain beyond through use of the force and objects. Ruins within the forest point to their older religions as worship of being who crawled from the oceans and brought food, knowledge and power to the people under them... then devolve into tales of beings from the sky destroying them and death worship becoming powerful as they believed they could attain the prize of the gods. Immortality.
- General behavior: Their communal behavior is largely unknown... lack of observation and violent outbursts when seeing others have turned them into stories one talks about haunting the mist filled forests laden with gnarled trees and the feeling of anger and rage. They attack anything that comes there eventually, they will chase and track and when they come across each other they will attack one another in a violent display.
Ancient and primeval... the wraiths are considered mysterious of the planet as they have a hundred different origin stories.. from always being on the world to something that has escaped the netherworld of the force... to being within the vanishing villages of the forest... the truth is strange in some ways then the fictions that have appeared throughout the centuries and years to explain them. They started out as Ancient Atrisians, part of the first empire and expanded out into the stars. Encountering strange being... creatures that were powerful and being driven back to their home world they fought what was a living mountain... titans created from crystal and stone and metals.
With the wars lost they sought a means to survive... a pathway to immortality that would let them conquer their enemies... sacrificing themselves in a fashion that bound their souls to alters within the ancient forests. It worked... mostly they were dead, their spirits ensnared and held in the forests... they could fight their enemies but could not leave the forests to enjoy their empire... they were damned and cursed by the gods for seeking to join their ranks of immortal beings. When the Taeki became more isolated and the Chi-Oni themselves fled underground they were the only ones to remain on the surface of the world.
That isolation grew into a confusion.. a hatred... a madness that saw them fighting and killing anything that came to the forests... wayward travelers.... beings who wanted to explore or settle down. It didn't always happen right away but eventually they would find them.. they would catch them and they would rend their souls from their bodies... severing the cord of their life to feed to the alters and restore themselves for a time. In trying to remain in the world. They grew to hate each other... a madness among them all and what kept them bound also allowed them to fight and for a time dissipate each other.
The centuries stacking though did dangerous things, the forests of their home becoming ancient, gnarled and twisted into these anger and rage filled areas of mist, whispers and shadows... the wraiths can move betweem them and stalk people who come seeking fortune, glory or knowledge as legends of ancient palaces deep in the heart of the forest persist to the Jishi era and have existed for tens of thousands of years. Ruined images of ancient structures covered in tree roots and filled with only the most dangerous of animals. Their afterlife making them ideal to survive in the face of galactic plagues and the netherworld rifts opening brought questions about where they existed on the spectrum.
However they were largely forgotten about and rarely mentioned to offworlders except in warning. Empeor Akio restricted travel among the forests instead giving them a wide berth and those offworlders who invaded when they came no warning. Allowing many to try and take the forests for the promised riches, letting them trek deep within and taking out the ones who came running out. It worked a lot more effectively in campaigns as they could lure the foreign invaders but the ones who were being mind controlled of their own people knew differently and knew the danger that was posed in invading and fighting in the forests.
With the new Jishi era the forests and the wraiths have seen a renewed interest thanks to airships and drones that can explore the forests... there is still not much known. Jedi observing have pointed to alters which radiate with the darkside and theories are they work like focus points to bring and control the force energies... it would contain them and by now the forests were saturated with their power.. the presence scattered across it like an ocean of dark power and range that had been brought to bare. The area around the forests have largely been cordoned off and travel forbidden but some still try and go into the forests and solve the mystery of the wraiths.
