- Description: Average in appearance to most Atrisians, they are not an entirely new species but more Atrisians who have adapted to their harsh homeland. With long black hair and pale skin. Eyes like black pools and lean muscles. They are often seen wearing thick furs styled into Kimonos and living in homes that had been cut into the almost permanently frozen lands. Their voices though are one of the most beautiful on Atrisia, often regarded like sirens or Iego demons in how they can sing with voices everyone can hear no matter how low it might be. They live in the frozen lands of the north islands where it is always in a blizzard making them much more reclusive.

- Distinctions: A rare sight on Atrisia believed to be more legend and myth. Their hair and skin are largely similar compared to the more diversity common in Atrisians across the planet. Snow and ice capabilities with the force. Their voices are hypnotic and have developed to let them run away from dangers.

- Force Sensitivity: A strange occurrence, the Yamagata Atrisians are sparse on the world confined almost exclusively to the polar lands of Shikoku. They adapted and slowly learned how to protect themselves with the force from the cold and manipulate the water and ice. A technique similar to the shapers but more focused to controlling the water/ice. Being able to warm themselves with tapas and their voice being otherworldly leading to their legends. At least that is part of it, secretly in ancient times their ancestors used arcane force techniques (Sith alchemy/Legends /Sith magic) to enhance their potency with the force and sought to be the perfect specimen through controlled eugenics and offspring.
Long Life: In comparison to other Atrisians the Yama are able to live a longer life. This is from their ancient alchemical alterations and the pact they make with their gods upon reaching maturity. - Force Bred: Compared to many of the Atrisians the Yamagata were altered to all feel the force. Making them sithspawn with passive and trained abilities. Their voices are more passive and force enhanced but their ability to control water and ice while innate on the small scale
- Mistress Snow: Their bodies have become adapted exclusively to their environment to the point in temperatures that are not controlled to nearly exclusively below zero they still struggle to breath, face rapid heart rates and slowly suffocate.
Population: Why have they not been see? Because population wise they are declining as less are born due to their ancient mandate of genetic purity.
Birth Defects: A side effect of the genetic purity that has ruled them since ancient times and what was done to them to ensure they were more potent with the force. Children have high risk of being born premature, with underdeveloped organs, immunity disorders, fused bones and blindness.
A Frozen Heart: Part of the pact when they reach the age of maturity the Yama form the pact with their ancient god much the same way their ancestor did. Carving out their heart and replacing it with a crystal found in the ice. With it and the force they can extend their lives. The heart itself is hidden away then by them and dangerous to them. Someone holding it who orders them to preform actions or tasks is almost painful to resist. If they damage/destroy it the telepathic feedback can case severe trauma or even death.
Lightside Dislike: An unconscious revulsion of the lightside of the force.. when they are near or around it the Yama become sick and more violent. - Force Voids: The Yamagata have been engineered and breed to keep their force sensitivity pure. It does make it so all members can touch the force and thanks to ancient alchemy/magics they were once engineered to be such. Force voids, nulling equipment or creatures that create dead zones in the force are disorienting to them. Spending to long in force dead voids can be deadly to them mentally and lead to madness or death.
- Diet: Omnivore: They will generally eat everything and anything edible they can find. The frozen lands are harsh and they do not have the resources of the lesser Atrisians. They will also in times of great strife attack and eat each other in a ritualistic ceremony.

- Religion/Beliefs: Foregoing the Atrisian pantheon, the Yama worshp the old gods.. the ancient gods of Atrisia who demanded piety, who sought service and were praised in blood. Living in ancient earthen cities that spread through the caves where chambers once held the ancient Yama until their masters had need of them. Statues are preserved as are the Nure-Onna trees. Strewing remains and bones in symbols around them for different ceremonies. Their primary god in the pale child, a being of the moon who came to the world because they were curious and taught the arcane wonders to them. It is that power they cultivate within a family that spreads across the land and protects its secrets from outsider Atrisians. The other biggest thing is the pact... a dark deal they preform when they reach maturity hunting down their life giver (mother) and doing two things. First finding a crystal the size of their fist in the snow and second feasting upon the heart of their mother to empower their crystal and bind the soul to them. Then they slice out their own and put the crystal into their chest like the ancient Heart of Graush to extend their lives.
- General behavior: Isolationists: Among each other and with the other Atrisians on the planet the Yama are isolationists... wanting very little to do with one another unless it is time to try and maintain their population. THey travel to the remains of the ancient capital city that had been built there and reclaimed by them where the all father chooses who is allowed to have children that cycle. With outsiders who manage to come to the polar regions they can act one of two ways... either they will attack and ensure they cannot be found often using their voices and abilities with the ice and snow to lure them into a ravine or dangerous area to be attacked. Or they will let them go depending on their mood. In regards to their children as soon as they are born they are taken by the most fierce of the females to be raised until they are able to defend for themselves and then the mothers leave. It is rare that the biological mother raises her own child as it is partially a competition to get the strongest to raise the next generation. Towards their mothers once they are old enough they are... vicious, hunting them down but also seeking out their hearts to feast upon them and extend their own lives. The fights can be some of the most dangerous often resulting in both parties being injured or even killed.
Ancient by Atrisian standards, the yama were one of the first civilizations to develop on Atrisia before their lands were cast into a state of permanent winter.. or so the legends tell. In truth it is unknown when they appeared against the ancient Atrisians of chitei or the ones of Ukiyo but they took a different path. Instead forming massive cities and temples to honor the gods and creating a mixture of religion and government. The emperor to them was divine and chosen by the gods, father to all of them who rewarded his children with the mysteries that the gods had taught him. Crimson beings with tendrils on their faces and spiked eyebrows. The being taught him dark secrets that he used to control the minds of his people... subject them to worship him and preform arcane rituals that increased their power.
This caught the attention of the others on Atrisia who rose up to stop them... fighting against them until all that remained were the emperor and his servants. Chased into the snows there they perished one by one until the emperor made a deal with the dark god known as the pale child. He would survive and his people would serve forever there in the snow... that was the legend of how the first Yamagata came to be. A remnant of a fallen civilization that was wiped from the face of Atrisia.. their temples, their cities lost to the snows and passage of time... but they survived in a manner.. some did and they spread out finding hollows under the ice where they would be able to survive. They found places deep within the earth and slept transforming and becoming something else. Their population, their lives were different.
Over time they changed, adapting to the new coldness of the land by somewhat literally becoming monsters in the process. They fought with the animals of the regions, they fought with people who came to the region, They fought with each other. The results from it in legends are that their hearts froze and they carved them out and replacing them with force and soul infused crystals that would keep them alive. Their hearts were then put somewhere safe and secure that only they would know. A dangerous game of hunting the hearts of others and rivals came out and developed.. with the males moving around in the territories and the families of the ancient Shu clan there to keep things pure. The Yama became one of the oldest Atrisian dynasties of the old blood and were long forgotten. Atrisia moved on turning the stories and dangers into tall tales and then legends and myth.
As the centuries mounted the Yama continued to change to match their new environment.. forgetting much about their ancient past until things for survival became just another routine... the children would be raised by whoever claimed them at the gathering. All of the mothers who had been allowed pregnancy that year would put them in a room and one by one could go in and claim one of the children for their own. Then they would raise them and teach them leaving when the child was old enough to understand what they were and how to survive. Then the mothers would cast them out to survive so that they could become strong and finding their way they would preform the same rights. The pact which allowed them to live longer than most species was preformed when they reached 100 years of age finding a crystal and seeking out their mothers heart.
Thousands of years passed and plagues came to the world.. other groups came and took over and the Yama the ones who survived at least had been working to maintain a dwindling population that seemed to be constantly on the verge of going away. Centuries and centuries of genetic purity preserving the ancient bloodline within the people had caused problems but they were working on it. Then a rift opened up in Abuzu allowing horrors and thoughts to spread across Shikoku. The yama fought them off but it alerted the Anshin station to their presence which would only bring more people to their homes... more people meant they would have to interact or wage an all out war against them. They continued to remain as attacks came to the planet and restructuring from commonwealth to empire and back again.
