SPECIAL FEATURES
- Lightsaber Pike Variation: The traditional design choice of most lightsaber wielders on Zakuul, the pike variant allows for further reach than traditional lightsabers would. The ability to use the weapon with two hands allows Kaila to deliver significantly stronger blows to her opponent when delivering direct blows to her opponents and allowing her a wide sweeping arc with her blade. The blade has three segments, each covering a third of it's total length. This allows for the blade to be switched between the extended and collapsed forms easily.
- Dead-Man Switch: The dead man switch is attached to the activation switch on the blade, requiring Kaila to put constant pressure on it. If the dead-man switch is released, it immediately disables the blade. The dead-man switch can be held down by the force in order to throw the lightsaber in an arc against an opponent.
- Compressed Synthetic Lightsaber Crystal: Synthetic Lightsaber crystals were originally created by the Sith who found they could create their own and imbue them with the dark side of the force to be used as a weapon against the Jedi. The process normally created a more powerful, red-hued blade that could potentially overpower the Jedi's natural crystals. There were even variants of the Synthetic crystals that were created through either failures or intentionally made for a specific purpose. Kaila's crystal was forged in the oldest sun-generator of Zakuul, giving it a beautiful golden glow. It was also made to be compressed making the blade to be much finer, allowing it more precision and control.
- Bifurcating Cyclical-Ignition Pulse: Due to the murky nature of Zakuul, it is traditional for the lightsabers to have protection against submersion in case a knight of Zakuul found themselves deep in the endless swamp. This allows for the blade to continue it's ignition when underwater, protecting the blade from the regular harm that comes with it.
- Rapid Extendable Hilt: The hilt of Kaila's pike is extendable, a rare quality among lightsaber pikes. This extendability centres around the activation switch of the pike, allowing for it to be seamlessly used during combat. The speed of this extension can be very rapid, allowing for Kaila to extend the blade mid swing for a surprise attack against her enemies. The extendable hilt also allows for the blade to be carried around with significant more ease, as well as allowing it to be concealed.
Strengths:
- (+) Extendable Hilt: The hilt of Kaila's pike can rapidly extend and collapse, allowing for surprise strikes when used mid-swing. It can be used from a significant distance away from the opponent, allowing her to use more powerful strikes when using both hands for a directional strike. The blade's length also provides a wide sweeping arc when used against multiple opponents, allowing her to attack more enemies at once.
- (+) Compressed Crystal: The crystal of Kaila's blade is a compressed synthetic crystal, forged by her personally in an ancient sun generator. This has made the blade thinner, allow for more precision when striking and for greater control of the blade.
- (+) Waterproof Casing: The inner mechanisms of the Atsak iv Esne is protected by a bifurcating cyclical-ignition pulse which prevents the functions of the lightsaber from being damage while submerged, this allows for the blade to be used beneath water for combat purposes.
- (-) Weakpoints: Due to the nature of the blade's extending capabilities, it has to be separated into multiple segments. The area where the segments fold into each other to collapse the blade are the weakest point of the blade and a significant strike at one of them could break the link, potentially destroying the entire lightsaber.
- (-) Cortosis: Like most lightsabers, the Atsak iv Esne can be temporarily disabled by any item being protected by cortosis. The cortosis causes lightsabers to short out, forcing them to recharge before the blade can be reactivated and continue combat.
- (-) Compressed Crystal: While a compressed blade does allow for finer control and smoother movement, it also makes the blade weaker and more unstable than regular lightsaber crystals. It can be easily overpowered, causing Kaila to lack in power when clashing. The instability of the blade can also cause it to short or break if overexerted due to it's abnormal shaping.
DESCRIPTION
The Atvak iv Esne was made personally by Kailari, using resources from her company to make a weapon for herself of upmost quality. The White-Gold Valkite was given to the royal family as a gift from Salei Crotl, a famed historian and explorer recording the history of the Gravestone. The rare strain was found beneath where the Gravestone had lain, gaining traits from the different forms of Valkite. The lightness of this Valkite gives the Atvak it's ability to be wielded quickly and properly by Kaila, allowing her to properly control the balance of her blade instead of worrying about the weight distribution. It also has strong durability, giving it some moderate protection against lightsabers allowing for some direct hits against the upper hilt to be glanced off.
The Atvak iv Esne is connected to Zakuul in both design and name, Kaila choosing to flaunt her heritage in her designs. The Lightsaber pike is a traditional design of the Knights of Zakuul, being engraved in the history of the order since it's foundation. It's extendable hilt was a design aspect taken from some rarer and more luxurious variations of the blade, such as Senya Tirall though Kaila added her own aspects to it. She overclocked the speed that the blade extended and retracted at, allowing for her to change the length of the blade mid combat. The area around her grip is where the collapsing function is separated, allowing her to manipulate the blade without shifting her grip on the weapon.
The weapon itself gets it's name from the ancient pantheon of Zakuul. The Goddess of Jealousy, Esne, was the twin sister to the Goddess of Passion, Aivela. Esne would be the one to weed out the weak by tempting them away from her sister's light, and this is the reason that Kaila gave this name to her lightsaber. Kaila had poured her passion into her armour, the Aegis of Aivela, and it seemed like only poetic justice that she had to name her weapon after the goddess' jealous sister. And so this is how she came up with the idea for her weapon; if Kaila's enemies would not surrender to her when they saw her Aegis, then they would fall to her Atvak.
