Alyesa stared at the schematics before her.
The Lightning X2 Starfighter was to be her best design yet - atleast for Alderaan Royal Engineers. It would be up to standard when it came to modern starfighter technology, and also contain a unique feature that had been unseen by the industry to date. An orbital drone would be able to detach from the Starfighter and utilize a series of geosynchronous mechanisms to stay within a specific range of the fighter itself and provide anti-fighter support. A defense mechanism as it were, but also with the option of an offensive mechanism. The drone itself would be controlled by the targeting system, as well as the counter-measure system. Two complicated components that would have to work hand in hand to combat both offensive and defensive measures in dogfighting - in real-time situations.
It wasn't an impossible feat, just one that would prove to be costly but effective and worthwhile in the end.
She had developed some of the most advanced technology before but that was when she had the power of Incom behind her, now she was just working with what could be considered scraps.
Alyesa sighed heavily and laid the datapad down and touched the screen, pulling the schematic from the pad and to her desk. She would expand it and throw it out onto the open floor before her. The engineers had sifted through the design for a countless number of hours - now it was her turn to fine tune everything. She had to ensure she got what she could right, before she ended up field testing the damn thing. The field test was always a critical component of Starfighter technology - especially under circumstances like these. Such an ambitious project during the early stages of ARE's growth and if it proved to be a failure, it could ultimately prove to be the downfall of the company.
That was something she was hoping to avoid.
