Attacks on Brussel

At least 28, by last EMS response count, are dead. The wounded and critically injured number into a hundred and more, climbing rapidly. A goodly portion of the latter may joined the former. What precisely has happened and why is unsure. The attack on the train station appears to have been from one or more suitcase devices, whilst the air port attack appears to have been a suicide bombing by a man reportedly screaming unknown words in Arabic shortly before ending his own life and 15 others. Air and rail traffic to the area is suspended, and at least the French/Belgian border is closed, with officials advising all peoples to avoid the area. Secondary attacks are suspected.

What is important is not the origin of the attackers. What is important is not the reason why. What is important is that we have again bore witness to an unspeakable act of horror. May the people of Belgium, and Brussels, be safeguarded, and no further life be lost this day.

Note: These links are from EMS and Fire websites. Some of the pictures do contain scenes of violence, possibly blood and gore and injured civilians, soldiers, and responders.

To the people gripped by this... I can only hope and wish for your safety and well being. I truly hate seeing things like this, and being powerless to help despite training.

I've been watching the live ticker for the last hour. Its horrible.

34 Dead, 180 Wounded. Not to mention the mobs that are now forming and assaulting random people of arabic and middle eastern descent in the area

It's a dangerous place to be right now, old Europe. Never know where or when and it's something that just happens too frequently now to ever feel totally safe. At one point England used to feel lucky we had the Channel of water between us and mainland, but now not even that is enough.

Brussels, like France, Turkey, England, America and those affected before it, will rise from this attack with a stronger resolve and even stronger communal spirit that will never be quashed and I hope anyone and everyone in and around the area who can stay safe continues to do so in these horrible times.

I'm one of those people in old Europe. I'm less than 200 Kilometers away from the site of the incident, it's really quite frightening how close this actually was to my own home. I don't live in a bigcity but, this is enough to give me pause

I saw this on the news here in Australia tonight. It is horrific to say the least and thoughts go out to those involved in this. I immediately thought of all the people in here that I know in Europe and hoped that these kind of events do not visit their homes, or that they are never effected like this. :(

My heart goes to all the people that lives in Brussel and affected by this bombing attack in any way.

Terrorism indeed is a horror, saying this as an individual living in Turkey. There has been two suicide bombings here as well in two months, hundreds injured and almost a hundred dead as a result.
