SPECIAL FEATURES
  • The Thandarian Mass Accelerator Cannon is able to accelerate highly-dense neuranium to extremely fast speeds, giving the rod the ability to potentially destroy, severely damage or cripple a targeted ship upon impact. The neuranium rods can also inflict catastrophic damage around an area of impact if fired at a planet's surface, although the cannon lacks the ability to actually destroy a planet outright.
  • The energy required to power the Thandarian is generated via dedicated Sybarium crystal generators. These generators are not adjacent to the cannon; rather, they are placed further into the interior of the ship to shield the precious generators from damage. An electrical current is generated via the Sybarium crystals, which is then channeled to the cannon itself via cables that are insulated by Dolovite to prevent leakage and ensure maximum efficiency when it comes to power generation and transfer.
  • Neuranium Rods fired by the Thandarian when, on impact, will essentially slice through a ship that destroys the rod in the process. However, the aftermath of the collision produced a multitude of tiny fast-traveling fragments of the individual rod, which can impact on other ships that are behind the point of impact and in the general vector that the rod was initially traveling towards. While these are tiny fragments that by no means have the same crippling potential upon the impact that the original rod represents, these still can cause great amounts of damage, especially in situations in fleets where ship density is very high.
  • To counter the gravitational-warping effects of large masses of neuranium, all rods are stored in special sealed compartments that has a smaller gravitational force than the rest of the ship, preventing the stored neuranium from doing any internal damage to the ship. These compartments are numerous, each holding no more than a few rods maximum and spread equally throughout the ship to ensure that no large concentration of neuranium can have any gravitational-warping effect.
STRENGTHS
  • Battle Buster: The Thandarian Mass Accelerator Cannon launches large neuranium rods at extreme speeds towards a target; highly dense, the mass accelerator cannon thus has the potential to destroy, severely damage or cripple a targeted a ship upon impact. The destructive potential of the mass accelerator cannon against any sort of target is immense, and can in many situations be the decisive element within a naval engagement.
  • Shields left Unaware: The speed and convention of which the neuranium rod is delivered means that an enemy shield's are unable to fully stop the rod of the mass accelerator, although the total damage done can be somewhat mitigated by an enemy's defensive systems depending on the power and grade of their shields. This can allow for commanding officers to target ships that are proving to be a particular nuisance or ones that seem to be soaking up too much damage.
  • Chain Destruction: Upon impact with a target, the launched neuranium rod fragments into many different pieces that are still traveling at an extreme velocity. These fragments have nowhere near the destructive potential that is possessed by the original rod but can still inflict damage against ships that are located behind the point of impact of the rod and within the general vector that the rod was traveling. This can be especially catastrophic to an enemy fleet if they have a concentrated ship density where the probability of fragment impact is much higher.
WEAKNESSES
  • Big Boy: The ATX-19K Thandarian is a massive weapon, and only ships that are dreadnought-sized can install the hyperspace cannon.
  • Gravity Wells: While shield effectiveness against the ATX-19K Thandarian is reduced compared to conventional weaponry, opposing commanders can use gravity well and interdiction technology to attempt to counter the weapon. Gravity wells both have the potential to slow down the projectile speed of the neuranium rods, reducing impact velocity and overall damage. Gravity wells also have the potential to warp the neuranium rods and cause them to miss or hit an unintended target; however, to accomplish this an interdiction field must produce a tremendous gravitational force.
  • Poor Accuracy: The Thandarian is a stationary weapon, and aiming it requires the ship its mounted on to make the certain precise adjustments to do so. As such, it is extremely difficult to aim the Thandarian and the mass accelerator cannon is only a practical weapon when aiming at large or slow-moving ships; faster, smaller ships can fly generally unafraid of the Thandarian.
DESCRIPTION
Roble Manufacturing's first venture into the avenue of large, powerful 'boom' weapons was the ATX-190 Hypervelocity Cannon, an experimental prototype that, while it did not see any use practically, gave the company's research and development department a large amount of data on the function and use of such a weapon. Almost immediately, an upscaled and more powerful version of the ATX-190 was put as a development priority. Testing and experimentation dragged on for months, with sideline projects eventually being developed into weapons such as the RMMD-M5 Mass Driver Cannon. After months of development, however, Roble Manufacturing was finally ready to unveil its finished product: the ATX-19K Thandarian Mass Accelerator Cannon.

Created on the same principle as the original ATX-190, yet to a more extreme degree, the Thandarian is designed to launch large and incredibly dense neuranium projectiles at an extreme velocity towards an intended target, which upon impact has the potential to severely damage, cripple or even destroy a ship. Equally catastrophic to terrestrial targets, the ATX can cause extreme amounts of damage to planets, although it falls short of having the potential to actually destroy it. In addition to that, the neuranium rods fired by the Thandarian slice through a ship on impact which destroys the rod in the process, creating a multitude of tiny fast-traveling fragments of the individual rod, which can impact on other ships that are behind the point of impact and in the general vector that the rod was initially traveling towards. While these are tiny fragments that by no means have the same crippling potential upon the impact that the original rod represents, these still can cause great amounts of damage, especially in situations in fleets where ship density is very high.

This submission is looking good, however there's one thing I'd like a little clarification on:

Shields left Unaware:
The speed and convention of which the neuranium rod is delivered means that shields of an enemy ship have a reduced effect against the ATX-19K. This can allow for commanding officers to target ships that are proving to be a particular nuisance or ones that seem to be soaking up too much damage.

I'm wary about approving something that can be perceived to ignore shields. The explanation provided doesn't clarify what density or grade of shielding this can penetrate without deterring an effective hit. While you have stated that this is a stationary weapon emplacement and must be aimed in line with the vessels trajectory, could you please provide me with some further detail as to the limits involved when it comes to firing on shielded vessels. Would this penetrate light/low grade shields only, for example?

What I was trying to get is that shields aren't able to fully counter the weapon but can mitigate the damage somewhat depending on how powerful the respective shield is. I'm aware that this alone is extremely powerful, and so I added in the weakness that interdiction fields could be used as a defensive measure.

I've reworded it, is it more clear now, or would you like me to further reword/rework the strength?

I appreciate that. The idea of a submission being able to negate another vessels shielding entirely isn't something I'm likely to approve, however, as you've given allowances for advanced/"Powerful" shielding, I'm going to approve this. The Interdiction Field weakness was also noted, thank you.

Approved.
