- Siaber Crystal Power Generator - The heart of the new weapon, the Siaber Crystal that powers each emplacement is designed to provide the necessary power needed for such a miniature version of the ion pulse
- Widespread - Because the emplacement is a smaller version of the more infamous ion pulse cannons, the energy it fires is a decent sized circle that can disable fighters and missiles that get caught in the circumference
- Enhanced Stopping Power - Due to the Siaber and Luxum Crystals within the emplacement, it has an enhanced ion effect
- Indiscriminate - Because of the nature of the energy being fired, it is not as precise as other weapons. It can just as easily disable allied fighters and missiles as enemy ones
- Larger Targets - Due to the range being limited, and the size of the weapon, it cannot disable ships larger than a smaller scale corvette. Anything larger can shrug off the attacks if it is in range
- Broken Crystal - Siaber Crystals, if broken, tend to disintegrate anything within a given radius. For the Fulmen Emplacement, anything in a ten-meter radius will be atomized
More of an experimental series of weapons, and a new concept for Aurora Industries, the new Fulmen Ion Storm Emplacement is designed to be a brand new method of limiting the effectiveness of starfighters, bombers, and missile attacks on capital ships. Borrowing designs from the Ion Pulse Weapon developed by the Sith, and captured plans from the Galactic Alliance, the engineers at Aurora began the process of downscaling the weapons.
It was not an easy task as the engineers repeatedly ran into power supply issues in generating the same sort of ion pulse as the larger weapons. It wasn't until the introduction of Aurora's Siaber Crystal technology, and Luxum Crystals, that the engineers had a strong enough energy supply and kickstart for the ionization effect to create a working prototype.
The system was designed first and foremost as a defensive emplacement, much like a point defense laser or flak gun. Firing smaller ion pulses, it can easily fry the electrical systems and shields of enemy fighters, bombers, dropships, and missile attacks before they might endanger the ship. However, the new system does come with a warning that friendly fighters and missiles can and will also be disabled if caught in the pulse and caution is advised when deployed.
