Description: The Azalus-class Frigate is Tenloss' answer to starfighter based attacks on capital ships. Decked out with an even mix of flak cannons, quad lasers, and point defense batteries, the Azalus is highly capable of tracking, targeting, and destroying small, incoming threats to both itself and friendly vessels.
Popo's engineers designed the ship with cost effectiveness and reliability at the fore and, as such, the Azalus is one of the cheaper flak frigate options on the market. At 400 meters, the frigate is smaller and more compact than most of its competition, allowing the ship to maneuver better in and amongst the larger capital ships that it protects. The frigate also has exceptional targeting computers on board, allowing faster and easier target acquisition and engagement. Also, due to the ship's assembly line manufacturing, the Azalus-class is easy to repair and maintain. When or if something fails or breaks, it's a simple matter of ordering the new part and installing it as there is little to no custom work on the ship whatsoever.
The ship has its downsides, however. Due to being primarily a flak/point defense ship, the Azalus is completely ineffective at engaging anything larger than a starfighter and does have some trouble with dropships. Also, while the targeting computers used to track and target incoming enemies are quick and accurate, this comes at the cost of shorter ranges and the frigate cannot target ships to the same range as some of its competition. Also, while the ship is smaller and allows better maneuverability in and around the larger ships in a fleet, this makes the ship more fragile and susceptible to damage. Finally, while the ship is mass produced and easy to repair, the parts are generally made at or below standard, meaning replacements are required more frequently.
Strenghts:
Cheap and reliable
Smaller and more compact
Easier to maneuver around larger ships.
Targeting computers are fast and accurate.
Easily maintained and repaired.
Weaknesses:
Ineffective at engaging targets larger than dropships.
Computers have shorter range than most competition.
The ship is more fragile than most competition.
Replacement parts or generally at or below standard causing more frequent repairs.
