Baby-Sitting [TJO Mission]

Space, en route to Nubia
Objective: Escort diplomatic envoy to Nubia.

From the capital of the Republic to a planet in the outer regions of the faction -- a standard routine route. Just as it always happened to be, the government officials of the Republic didn't bother to ask the faction's own military personnel to join them on the road, but rather invite a few Jedi for a more certain protection. And that's why three Jedi were on the ship, making their way to the planet very close to both the One Sith and Omega Protectorate.

"It's a bit scary to be going so near to our enemy territory. I have a bad feeling about this," Maria spoke her heart out to the fellow Jedi -- Evan and Dair -- with a worried tone, showing off her slight Crystalsong Standard accent which was normally carefully hidden. Right now she didn't bother to focus on that. She knew the two would still understand what she said.

"What do you think about it?" she asked from her fellows, secretly hoping she wasn't the only one who was really worried about the mission. It was her first time to be a bodyguard to somebody and that also greatly affected her.

A little bit away from the Jedi were the politicians themselves. They didn't seem to care much -- it was a procedure they did often and had become used to. The flight to Nubia was like going to a walk in the park to them. They thought if any problems arose, diplomacy would be the greatest weapon.

Maria didn't think the same way, but still chose to keep a little bit of trust in them. She was not the best fighter. So that's why she hoped Dair and Evan had had better lightsaber lessons.

Evan stared out the window nearby into space. "This vessel is more likely to be attacked by a Sith fleet of fighters than a boarding party..." he said out loud. He turned around to face [member="Maria Natalja"], "Master Natalja, with all due respect, I only have a training lightsaber and i'm fairly new to the Order myself. I'm not as capable with a lightsaber as you and Master Cotarin are. I flew my fighter to get here, don't you think i'd be of more use as a fighter escort?"

Evan's tone of voice almost made it sound as if he were seriously suggesting this idea, but he were merely asking. If the two jedi knights wanted him to stay on board with them, he would. He secretly was just looking for an opportunity to fly his new ship.

Dair was staring out the viewport as the two Jedi with him spoke. He nodded as they spoke, for their words were resounding with what he was feeling. Deep down, he wanted to get in his fighter craft and protect the ship that way, but his fighter was in the Hangar on Ossus. For this mission he was close support, which suited him just as well as being in the fighter, only it's newness made it more appealing to him.

"It is disconcerting to be so near the border without an escort..." Dair began, still not used to the honorific of Master, but to a Padawan that is what he was. The rank of Knight was still new to him. "However, in the knowledge that my next words are mildly idyllic and naive, we are still in Republic space. The One Sith pushed at Telti, but they have other fronts. Even they cannot be everywhere at once." His deep voice spoke slowly and confidently. He knew that the value of a fighter went up with their morale, and though he had a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach, he knew that kindling hope was the only way to keep melancholy at bay.

The thought of a fighter escort did appeal to Dair, but even as a Knight, he was outranked by time in grade by Maria. While her word was not law, she likely had more experience on these types of missions than he did. So he glanced over at [member="Maria Natalja"] and quirked an eyebrow in a way that [member="Evan Kenner"] wouldn't be able to see it. His question to her was clear enough, he wanted her thoughts on the matter.

Maria looked blankly at the two Jedi she had come to the mission with, putting some thought into the matter. While Maria would have felt a lot more comfortable with a Padawan staying on the ship with two Knights, she had to admit they needed some more escort and Evan could provide it with his starfighter.

"Alright, I think you may fly along the ship with your fighter and protect us how you can. Let us know if you face any problems. We'll be continuously holding contact with you," she finally spoke.

Then she turned to the other Knight. He was a whole lot younger than her, but was about the same height as her. It was fantastic to finally look into somebody's eyes without having to bend over to the person. The Padawan, however, was rather short when compared to the two.

"The One Sith are getting more and more troubling. I am a little bit afraid we'll be invaded soon. Though their space is large and indeed, they have other fronts to fight on."

Evan smiled and nodded reluctantly, starting down the corridors until he made his way back to the hangar. He climbed into the cockpit and sealed it shut, starting the ship and taking off. The jed-class heavy fighter soared through space and flew close by the vessel. Evan pressed a few buttons to open up a comlink channel with his two jedi friends as well as the bridge of the Republic ship.

"I'm in escort position. Looks good from out here so far." he said over the jedi comlink channel.
